Mungo Homes

(12 reviews)

Let me start out by saying the reason we bought the home was because of the neighborhood (Buckhead…read moreEast in Richmond Hill, GA) Gus at the sales center who is absolutely fantastic by the way, and the Mungo difference" that we have yet to see honestly. The really only positive interactions we have had was with Mrs Jackie in customer service in the Columbia office, Gus in our sales center, and the subcontractors who came to install my new counter tops. My family and I moved into our home two months ago and while we instantly fell in love and I couldn't love the way the house looks any more than I do I cannot help but feel like I am drowning in our new home. At least once a week for the last three weeks we have had at least one subcontractor at our house. I guess the best place to start is with the outside. The house is beautiful but once you get up close to it you realize that the boxes around our window wasn't sealed, that our sod is patchy, that our windows have rust running down them because they didn't seal the nails, and that our flowerbeds are basically just a mess of left-over construction tools. When you get inside you notice that the windows aren't square and all of the mistakes made while painting. And once you look closer you realize that there was no care put into the home, that it was thrown together as quickly as possible and when you point it out you get thirty minutes of excuses and get reminded that you have to leave your quality expectations at the door. And before you ask, yes we were told that we needed to leave our expectations for high quality at the door because it's just impossible to do. When we brought up the concerns about the windows we were just told "there is nothing that can be done" we cannot hang blinds because blinds aren't shaped like trapezoids, I can't let my kids help me with flowers because I never know what I am going to find when I clean up the area, and I right now cannot paint my walls without going through and sanding everything because nothing was beforehand. In the short time that we have lived here we have had to have our cabinets fixed twice (while we are talking about cabinets our wall isn't exactly level so are cabinets had to be shimmed and theres exposed wiring in some of them) new counter tops, and a busted stair replaced. Since yesterday I have had a receptacle without a cover because after the granite subcontractors left the contractor never came back. So now we are waiting on the electrician to come in and drill holes in the granite to cover my receptacle and switch. While we are on that subject we are supposed to turn the power off to it which wouldn't be a big deal because it just goes to the dishwasher except it also turns off my fridge. Not trying to sound dramatic but its slightly unsafe with a special needs five year old running around. I have a peninsula in my kitchen which currently has a back that is falling off of it and it's the cabinets with the exposed wiring. I was told today that at some point between one and one thirty they will be here to fix it. When they fixed the stairs they tried to hide the fact that my stairs were full of trash until my husband pointed it out. When we have someone here working the contractor leaves which is fine I know hes busy but he never comes back to check on the work that was done. My brand new house is falling down around me and the longer we are here the more we find wrong with it and the less we love it. I feel like we were tricked into buying the "Mungo Difference" and had this promise of a house that we would love and would be the house of our dreams when in all reality it has been nothing but a nightmare. Every room in my house has to be repainted not because I dont like the color but because its coming off the walls and because it was never sanded. The ceilings are terrible and there is paint on most of the floors. I wish I could say that if I had it to do all over again I would... but I cant say that. We paid for things that we never received and the things that we did get the craftsmanship is just awful and the finish work it terrible.

I am a Mungo owner in Lyman, South Carolina reaching out to those who feel they have been wronged…read moreor even bullied by Mungo home experience and/or employees. Unfortunately I was both during mine. From the initial sales meeting with Pam Jennings to conversations with the sales manager Chris Piazza were nothing but half promises that never came to be to get a signature on a piece of paper. Our builder, David Livingston was not only less than skilled in building experience he actually flooded our house 10 days from closing and that's just a small portion of the frustrations we had to deal with him. Rutledge Vaughn, the production manager seemed to not engage with our needs and concerns nor his builders shortcomings. I believe we should come together and make Mungo, who is now under the parent company of Clayton homes, make sure that any future homebuyers get a better experience than we did!
