Who knew you could be an artist after a few sips of wine? Pinot's Palette is a popular franchise…read morethat hosts BYOB "Paint & Sip" events. They have over 100 locations and host multiple classes every month. You can access the events calendar on their website. Most locations host a class almost every day that are two or three hours long. Weekdays typically have evening class times while weekends can have earlier times. They offer a wide variety of paintings like landscapes, animals, florals, and seasonal themes. They have specialty classes where you can paint a custom portrait, decorate a wine glass or tote bag, or use black light fluorescent (glow-in-the-dark) paint. Because there's alcohol involved, most classes are adults only. However, they do have a select few that are for all ages/family-friendly. Prices range from $30-$55+ per person depending on the class type and time. You can reserve your spot/s online ahead of time. If you're going with a group, you can type in the names of your party in the seating request section so you can all be seated together. We went to the Nutley location on a Friday evening. Street parking was easy to find at this time. The studio has a lively, welcoming, and social atmosphere. They provide you with all of the art supplies - paint, brushes, canvas, easel, aprons. You bring your own drinks and food, but they do supply glassware, corkscrews, ice buckets, plates, napkins, and utensils. Angie was our instructor who led us step-by-step through the painting. She was friendly, enthusiastic, engaging, and easy to follow. This was my third class and I'm definitely no Vincent van Gogh LOL... but I still enjoyed myself. Regardless of your artistic talent, this is a great way to be creative, relax, and socialize in a judgment-free space. All levels of artistry are welcome! You'll actually be surprised at how much of a masterpiece you can create by the end of class ;) Paint & Sip classes are a fun choice for a group bonding activity or celebration! They also do corporate events and private parties. If you're going to be a frequent flyer, don't forget to sign up for their rewards program! You get personalized deals, free events, priority seating, etc.

The painting they had this past Sunday (12/29) looked totally do-able for my kiddos so I signed us up that morning for a 12pm class. My kids were SO excited. I brought some snacks and kid friendly drinks with us and we got there 15 minutes early. We were the first ones there and our palettes and paints were waiting for us. They had aprons for kids and we put our stuff in cubbies. Once the other groups arrived we began painting. Our instructor (I totally forget her name and I feel so bad) was absolutely fantastic. She took her time explaining each piece of the painting and how were were going to create everything. She was very patient and answered everyone's questions. She walked around to make sure everyone was on the same page and that we had enough paint. She gave little tips that helped make the painting process easier. It was so much fun! My son had a little trouble with the painting and was getting a bit frustrated (he hated his tree) but he continued on, followed the directions, and did his best. I was so proud of him. He is a bit younger than the recommended age but he enjoys guided drawings so I thought he might enjoy it. In the end, he was happy to have a fun, finished product. My daughter had a great time. And I always LOVE a good paint and sip. I will definitely be back to Pinot's Palette in Nutley. I love that it's so close to me and they have so many events and different paintings to choose from.

We received a run down on how the machine works, learned how to thread the machine and how to fill the bobbins. Then we made a denim tote bag. This was super easy and really fast. After lunch break is the 2nd project. If you don't have your fabric, the school can sell you fabric directly inside for $16 a yard. I bought my fabric elsewhere and brought it in. I honestly recommend doing this instead of buying it from them. Because you have to wash your fabric like how you wash your laundry regularly since it shrinks naturally. We picked our patterns and I made a skirt since a skirt is faster than pants. They recommended not to make pockets or else I'll run out of time. But I HAD to add pockets. Women's clothing have little or no pockets regularly. The instructors are extremely helpful and friendly. and they immediately notice if someone is struggling or stuck. This really impressed me. For example, when I was threading the bobbin, the spool of thread was running out. The teacher was immediately behind me with a brand new spool of the same color so I can swap it out when it was finished. That was a great eye for detail! Overall, highly recommend. Just bring in your own 3 yards of cotton fabric, already washed and dried, for the 2nd project!

Such a fun and worthwhile activity. Booking was super smooth, they were very responsive over email and it was easy to reserve a slot. I also love that they have multiple locations including 34th Street, Broadway (Brooklyn), and Montclair, NJ. Julian (JuJu) was an amazing instructor! Super outgoing, patient, and made the class such a fun experience from start to finish. I really appreciated how thorough he was when explaining each step, along with all the helpful tips and tricks throughout the class. We made tote bags, which are perfect for spring/summer, and I was so impressed with how they came out! I'll absolutely be back to try more courses. Highly recommend if you're looking for a cute solo activity or something fun to do with a friend!
