This is my 3rd time using instaMek and after this many times I think it's time to write a review on my experiences. They're definitely my go to mechanic for everything now. My first job with them was for an oil change and tire swap that got done because I heard about these guys through a friend and wanted to give them a try. The idea sounded great and I had zero desire to go to a shop and wait for my tires to get changed. Honestly I dread it worse than winter (not seriously, but kinda). I went to their website and saw that you can request a quote online which was a nice touch. They took about 45 minutes to get back to me. This process could be improved but a phone call is always an option. Anyways they sent a "Mek" to my home, I forgot his name but he was very friendly, looked professional and organized. I gave him the keys to my Jetta and he got to work. My biggest concern was spilling oil because he was working outside but they did use a mat and boxes to protect the driveway. He was also very careful when doing the job so I assume they're trained for this. After he completed the job I got an inspection report sent to my email that the mechanic did. In that report it said that my brakes were low and my drive belt needed to be replaced. I also got a quote for the job right away. I did some calling around and decided to go through with the brake job and drive belt through instaMek. Another Mek came this time named Nick, who was Also friendly and knowledgable. He told me what he was going to do and got to work. In about an hour the job was done and my car was good to go. Honestly the whole process felt so easy it was almost weird - like I didn't actually accomplish anything because it was too easy...? Either way after my experiences with instaMek I can say I'm a very satisfied customer and wish everything else was this easy. read more

I hired Instamek to replace the frozen car battery in my 2005 Buick. They had difficulty installing the new battery and had to remove the cover of the fuse (relay) box in order to get the old battery and install the new. . In so doing, the mechanic inadvertently hit the start relay in the fuse box with the battery, bending the relay contacts of the starter relay. The mechanic then proceeded to remove relays, switch relays, and grind his multimeter probes into the relay sockets. He gave up and returned the next day to continue screwing around with relays and fuses and gave up again. ...After several days, I managed to phone him at home where he informed me that he had quit Instamek and that my car now needed a new computer, and further that Instamek was incapable of doing that kind of work or programming the car's computer. ....I eventually gave up on Instamek and had my car towed to a GM dealers garage. The dealer had to replace the screwed up fuse box and the computer for a total cost of $2,000. ...I am now out the $2,000 because of the incompetence of their mechanic and who did the damage and then jumped ship and quit Instamek. ...INSTAMEK OFFERED A $250 CREDIT AND A $250 GIFT CERTIFICATE AND IS REFUSING TO PAY FOR ANY MORE OF THE $2,000 IN DAMAGES AND THEN PROMPTLY BLOCKED ANY FURTHER EMAILS. . ...Instamek seems not have any grasp of the technical workings of an automobile, nor the experience of running a business, ____ but they sure are adept at coming up with ridiculous and creative excuses and immoral practices. There sure is a superior attitude lacking any semblance of morality or fairness being demonstrated by these young and immature men, who are operating with the typical ethics of their culture. read more

I cant say enough good things about my experience with Mo at instaMek. My Grand Cherokee was making a horrible whining sound, emitted a smell much like a electric fuse burning, started to run VERY roughly and then finally refused to start. I feared the worst. I phoned instaMek and they arranged to have someone come the next morning (my dealer couldn't find any time.,,suggested I book an appointment for the following week). Mo arrived on time and quickly determined that the alternator on my jeep was not functioning correctly. I was relieved as I thought the issue was much more serious. I arranged to have Mo come back the next day and repair my car. They provided an estimate within a few hours and emailed the details. Then they caught me by surprise. They researched the recalls using the VIN on my car and advised that the alternator was subject to a recall and that Chrysler would do the job at no charge.,,, saving me approximately $1700.00 in parts and their labour. They did this knowing that they were walking away from a job they could easily perform. That type of integrity is very rare in the business world. instaMek will be my first phone call whenever I have problems with my vehicle. I have no hesitation in recommending Mo and instaMek to anyone in the same circumstance. read more

Our car had to be towed to our house, and where do you send your vehicle in a pandemic? InstaMek was able to come to our place, assess the car and quote us the job, without having to pay for a tow or shop. The car is done for, blown gasket and a few other things. We had straight up answers and explanations for free as members, so get that membership, cause you'll be using them again, especially with those inspections. All that would have been added cost at any shop, for the shop rate. We had Grant come by twice, once for the initial assessment, and then to get another car up and running. Saved us probably hundreds of dollars and unnecessary exposure in public. Great service and results, all the quotes were the final charges too. I would absolutely recommend InstaMek, and a extra shout out to Grant for fixing the car in the driveway at 15 below, we really appreciate you getting everything done in one day. read more

I normally don't write reviews but these guys deserve it. I found them on google when my car wasn't starting and I called a few shops but the guys on the phone were so rude. When I called instamek the service advisor was so friendly like he actually wanted my business and on top of that they sent a mechanic in 2 hours to diagnose the car. Nick who was the Mek found out that it was the starter and he had one with him too so he just went in there and fixed it. It took him about 3 hours but the car was fixed and he also did a through check to make sure it didn't happen again. He found something wrong with my brakes so when he was done I quickly got a quote for a very reasonable price compared to my dealer ($356 vs $511). He came out the next day and replaced my brake pads after and the whole process was so easy. I'm telling all my friends about this service - definitely a fan. read more

Our van was giving us electrical problems one day. The battery light came on and a few of the electronic parts didn't work. We thought we needed a new battery. We took the van to the nearest oil change shop to confirm whether or not it was the battery, and they let us know that the battery was fine. I then suspected the alternator. I found InstaMek online and saw that the reviews were good and I called them to our house to diagnose the issue. They confirmed that the alternator had given up. They quoted us a rate to replace the alternator, we accepted and they arrived later the same day with the new part. InstaMek diagnosed, then fixed the problem at our house all for a very competitive price. Instamek was able to provide me a diagnostic for a nominal price, then they gave me quote for the cost to fix the problem. This two step process allowed me to review the quote from Instamek prior to committing to them to fix my car. I found their quote to be competitive and was elated when the job did not exceed the quote. Also, I forgot to mention that I was at the comfort of my own home while the mechanic was fixing the car which was great. These guys are great to work with. I'm a pretty busy guy so I cringe every time I have to use a mechanic service because they're usually so awful to deal with it but these guys were totally different. The mechanic was super polite and knowledgeable - but the best part was I just gave him the keys and he got to work and then I got my keys back when he was. It was literally that easy and painless. I've used instaMek for a car inspection, tires and brakes on my BMW. I didn't compare prices but they looked reasonable. Probably not the cheapest but honestly my time is worth more than calling around. The fellas on the phone were quick, polite and very easy to deal with like they actually wanted my business. I found InstaMek on google and called them as my car had overheated and was leaking antifreeze. I called the number and the representative was awesome with their knowledge and professionalism it was great. I called at 8.45 and had a mechanic on site in Fort Saskatchewan by 9.45. Rob was awesome and so respectful and helpful I could not have had a better experience. The quote they gave me to replace my radiator and a few other things was cheaper than any other place. Used these guys for an inspection on a car I was looking to buy the other day. They were the easiest guys out there to use and I could do everything online. When I got the report it was super detailed and you could tell the mechanic went through it with a fine tooth comb. They sent me a quote afterwards and I got the brakes replaced by these guys as well. Honestly I can't get over how easy the whole process was. Back in the day when I had to buy a car the inspection was the worst part. From getting the seller to take it a shop and dealing with the mechanic there was such a hassle and even worth skipping. I was looking to buy a used Mercdes Benz but wanted it inspected first. I found instaMek on yelp and found that they do used car inspections. I went online and ordered the inspection which was an easy enough process. They took my credit card info and sent me an email telling me what mechanic will be there. When the mechanic (Josh) arrived he was friendly and professional. He completed the inspection in about an hour and half. He was very through and the report was easy to read. Great service!!! I have always dealt with InstaMek for all my needs. They have great mechanics, very knowledgeable and kind and helpful people. They've always been very helpful while I'm busy at work I needed services. This is something everyone should be using you can be having lunch, working, watching TV, Etc. For the Edmonton location. Mechanic was Nick and did a awesome job. Arrived a little early which was ok as I was home already. I had snapped by battery tie down bolt in half and couldn't remove it. Nick explained what he was doing as he went along and removed the bolt which I didn't think would be possible. Took just under a hour for $99 so not that bad. Very professional mechanic. Fantastic. I have used them twice. Once to get my brakes redone and the second time to get winter tires and oil changed on two vehicles. Way more convenient than driving back and forth across the city to have tires changed. The mechanic came to my house, swapped the tires and changed the oil while I got caught up on yard work, rather than sitting around a service center. Highly recommend. read more

Hany was professional and efficient and when there was work that needed to be done he suggested it might still be covered under warrenty (which it was!).
