I needed a long-term rental and contacted Instant Portables in September 2020. Initially, things were great. In the last six months, this hasn't been the same company. I don't know if it was sold, or a key person isn't there anymore, but the terrific customer service of the past is now severely lacking.
Today is July 20, 2022. The unit was last cleaned on June 22nd (I pay for a weekly cleaning). On June 29th, the truck came out, but the unit was neither pumped nor cleaned. There was no service the week of July 5th. The smell from the unit was horrible.
From the finance side, I was repeatedly billed for an overdue month that I sent proof of payment for multiple times. Also, during this time of trying to get the unit cleaned, I was told that my billing was going to be increased from $90.63 to $165 a month beginning the next billing cycle. This was a deal since other customers who were not long-term would be charged $195.
I completely understand the current cost of gas and doing business, but it's hard to swallow a $75 increase when the unit is stinking up my yard. I finally gave up and paid the supposed outstanding balance to clear the account and asked that the unit be removed.
I still needed a long-term rental, so I called another company that had a brand-new unit out to us on the day they told us they would be here. Cost is $140 a month, more than reasonable in the current economy. I'm hoping that the service will be as promised.
The Instant Portable unit continued to sit here. Their truck came out on July 12th. I assumed it was to pick up the unit as we requested. When I went outside later, the unit was still sitting there, and still stank. I emailed and was told that we were scheduled for service, but not a pickup. That would be next Tuesday, July 19th. It would have been nice if it had been serviced just to get rid of the smell.
On July 19th the porta-potty was STILL here, stinking in the 90-degree weather.
It is now July 20th. The unit was finally picked up today.
I am usually of the nature that if I can't say anything nice, I won't say anything. I do think that before people call this company, I give an honest account of our experience. I do welcome the company to post their reply or explanation. I only know what I could smell, and it wasn't pretty. read more
