Mbiti seems to have replied to my very critical review. The expert repair people I talked to said they could charge me $7,000 to work on the woodwork damage alone, but they would not take the job. It was too time-consuming, and it would be impossible to repair to anyone's satisfaction. Mbiti's staff were the keystone cops who could not figure out how to get a refrigerator in the door. Didn't think to take the item out of the box. Laid it on the threshold and did not finally. Didn't work, so eventually, they realized they had to take the refrig. door off. Set it on its side on the threshold and took door off, but not the door braces. Pulled the veneer off my 100-year-old ornate front door. Set it on its side again and took the braces off. No good, so they set it done again and took the house door off with refrig. on threshold. Put a deep gouge in the entrance hardwood floor. My new free-standing refrig. looks like I let numerous kids pound on the top, 3 sides, and the edges with hammers. For 100 years, no one has gouged the hardwood floor entrance, gouged the risers, or broken any steps. Bcb managed to do that in a few minutes. Mbiti says the damage was minimal, but he never came to look. He has all of the receipts, including one for the seriously damaged refrig. at $2,300. His company is not an LLC, so sue him personally as the owner of the business. The State revoked his LLC status for failure to file the required annual reports for over 5 years. He has known since June of 1999 that his company is not an LLC, but he doesn't let folks know, so he can plead that he is not personally liable for any damages. His current legal address is 26 Elm Street, Woburn, MA - not that he shares that info publicly. He is not insured, and his day laborers know nothing and have not been trained. I sued him for $7,500, plus treble damages. He fraudulently maintained he could not be held personally liable because his company was an LLC. He lied in court and on our settlement agreement. He agreed to pay me $5,000 between January 2022 and June 2022. Now he says he doesn't have to pay me because "according to our agreement, he only has to pay if his insurance reimburses him." There is no such clause in our agreement, especially since I recall him saying to the mediator that he had no insurance. In court last week, Mbiti insisted that the business was closed and that he had no money. The judge is making him disclose all of his financial data. Since much of his business is conducted under the table, I doubt that those documents will be honest and accurate. I have dealt with his lying promises for 2.5 years and counting. These folks are as good as it gets! Shawn, Rich, and Jose arrived early, and as soon as they had done the walk through of my three bedroom apartment, they got right to work. I had packed everything beforehand so they began busting through all my boxes. There was quite alot of stuff to get through, but they worked through it quickly and efficiently and had it all knocked out in just over 3 hours. Friendly and singing the whole time, and when I realized they had packed my suitcase with all my family's clothes in it, they went right back into the truck and dug it out for me. What REALLY impressed me was when Jose went break down my kitchen table, he came to me and pointed to my wallet and said "It's our policy that we do not touch wallets whatsoever." To begin this review, I would like to point out that I am clearly an idiot. I used to constantly complain about how cluttered my 1-bedroom apartment was, but when it came time to hire movers, I looked at my giant pile of boxes and thought, "This isn't so bad." I called up BCB Moving and said, "I should only need the 2-man team, because I only have a 1-bedroom apartment." I was so very wrong, and I have no one to blame but myself. I was thinking I would save a little money by not getting the 3-man team. Wow, I was wrong. I scheduled BCB to show up at 2:30 on a Saturday, thinking that it wouldn't take more than a few hours to load everything up in the truck, drive it to Medford from East Boston, and unload it. Again, so very wrong, and again, totally my fault. They called me at 1 to say that they could actually be there at 1:30, if I wanted them to, which would have been awesome, if I had actually been home at that time, but I just wasn't ready for them until 2:30. Ronnie and Dave showed up right on time and got to loading up the truck very quickly. They worked very hard despite my ridiculous number of boxes and the fact that my old building and apartment held in the August heat like an oven. They almost never stopped moving, except for Ronnie, who accepted a couple of glasses of water, and some ibuprofen I offered him after I discovered he was doing the job with bruised ribs! After several hours, we (mostly they, but I helped a little) had everything loaded into the truck, and I hopped in with them and we headed to the new place. The old apartment building had a convenient wheelchair ramp and a giant elevator, making moving out relatively easy. The new building has none of those things. It has no elevator, narrow staircases and even narrower passageways within the apartment. At this point, I joined in and started grabbing boxes right alongside them, not just to save money and time, but because I felt legitimately guilty about how much work I had put them through with my gross miscalculation of how much crap I owned. When we finished, they had moved everything in without damaging a single thing, including the flimsy furniture that they warned me ahead of time could be easily damaged in the move. They worked incredibly hard and at no point did I ever think they were slacking off or trying to milk more money out of it. They did excellent work, and were personable, didn't have any problem taking instructions, and even seemed light-hearted about how much I had to do. In total it took about 6 hours, but like I said, totally my fault. The next time I move, I will absolutely use BCB Moving again, but I will hire a 3-man team. It's not possible you will find anything better -- they are as good as it possibly gets, in every way. If you keep looking, you will just end up coming back here, so you might as well do it now. But if you really want to read the details here they are: (1) Moving services: Ronnie, Rich and Bo were SO efficient and careful at the same time. They took no break except for one 5-second drink of water and one bathroom break. Other than that, they were nonstop. Very professional, particularly for a service that's paid by the hour. Especially considering their speed, I was so impressed with their care toward my things. They use a method where they wrap everything in moving blankets and tape to keep it from getting damaged. It's kind of hypnotizing to watch all your stuff get wrapped up and taped in superspeed, actually. It kept everything safe, even my crappy IKEA furniture, much of which I would not be surprised if it didn't survive the move. One of them even took the time to tighten my wobbly dining table legs after moving it in -- what kind of amazing moving company leaves you with furniture in BETTER condition than it started out? (2) Price: It wasn't fun to pay my bill, but it was definitely the best price I got from any moving company in the area. The billing process was very transparent and straightforward. I didn't believe it until the very end -- I kept thinking that at the end they'd outsmart me with a hidden fee like packing tape -- but they didn't. It was exactly what they estimated, and the tape was like $5. I really appreciate that they gave me a clear, written breakdown of all fees at the end. And you can see watching them work that you get every minute you pay for. (3) Customer service: Booking was very easy and straightforward. My building is kind of elitist and had a lot of rules requiring the moving company insurance be sent in advance, the truck can only be a certain length and be there for a certain time, etc. BCB was great about working within those restrictions. The movers were also very kind and personable, which is really important in the potentially super awkward position of watching people carry stuff for you for several hours. PS: I had a REALLY bad Craigslist moving experience (see my review for Norman) -- I don't think anyone should ever use Craigslist for moving services! I know it's tempting, but now that I've gone both routes, the price difference between Craiglist movers and professional movers is WAY worth it. I hired these guys for my move from Brighton to Southie. They were great and worked so hard! They showed up on time, 2 guys, and immediately got right to work, never stopping... even when we offered them a drink and a chance to take a break. They wrapped everything in moving blankets and were careful with all of our furniture. Certain things needed to go over the back porch rather than down the front stairs and the 2 men were able to do it without a problem. Everytime they cleared a room they had us double check to make sure they got everything. I was really pleased with the whole process and my estimate of how much time it was going to take was right. They gave us a great rate and really delivered a quality service. It's the best $$$ I've ever spent! read more

This was, by far, the best experience I've had with movers. A crew of three guys moved me for some 8 hours, and I cannot say enough about the great work that Ronnie and Kelly did - if you call BCB, I recommended requesting them (if that's possible). They were patient, respectful, and really friendly. All my delicate glass furniture (there was a LOT), was packed beautifully and thoroughly, and made it to the new house without a scratch. They worked well together, problem-solved well, and wasted little time. The BCB guys showed up at 2 PM on the dot, and cleared out my ridiculously full entire apartment within a very efficient 2 hours, and it probably would have been less if my building hadn't forced them to share the freight elevator. They did spend another 2 hours figuring out how to disassemble my IKEA wall unit. ( YELPERS, take note: moving large, interconnected IKEA furniture will add a LOT to your moving time.) Moving into the new house was no picnic either - I moved from a 605 square foot apartment in an elevator building to a 4 story townhouse that had an additional 8 stairs to access the front door. About half my stuff had to go to the top floor! They also reassembled the IKEA unit . Finally, they helped to unload a Penske truck my parents had driven up as well, so I cannot say enough about the commitment these guys had to the job. I was all set to give them 5 stars, but I had to dock one for the following reasons: 1. Boxes got dropped. After numerous trips up and down with bulky furniture over 4 hours, in addition to the 4 previous hours of truck loading, the guys were understandably tired. We got them lots of water and pizza (which I recommend for anyone with a really long move) to help with the length of the move, but as my parents pointed out, moving is what they do, and boxes should not be dropped. 2. The walls were scuffed and floor scratched. Magic Eraser will probably get out most of the wall scuffs, but the floor scratches are permanent. It would have been nice for them to lay out cardboard on the floor from the door to the stairs, or at least ask us to do that in preparation, so we could avoid some of those scratches. 3. One of the movers behaved inappropriately, and did not appear to be pulling his weight. Perhaps if he had spent more time moving and less time chatting, things may have gone more expediently and the others would not have been so tired. read more

We used BCb movers again after our last move went so well. This move was also very quick and efficient. The only issue was that the movers showed up over an hour early so I wasn't really prepared yet. All in all it worked out fine. Prices were a bit higher for peak season/time ($140/hr; 2 hr minimum). I greatly appreciate that BCb only has a 2 hour minimum since I really only need their assistance with very large items and narrow staircases. The customer service was good and most emails were timely and I was able to receive confirmation emails upon request. I also used the Yelp deal without any issue. read more

Fantastic experience! I know, I know- moving is a pain in the backside. We all hate it. But whatever makes the experience less painful is what we're all looking for! For full disclosure- my move was pretty easy. Same town, apartment with elevator to a single house with no stairs. However- these guys made the move as smooth as it could get. First of all, it definitely helped me financially buying a coupon from Yelp- and moving during non-peak days. I'd definitely advise folks to take a day off from work (if you can) and move during Mondays or so...turns out to be much cheaper in the end. The guys showed up on time, were extremely friendly and moved things as if the end of the world was around the corner. I believe we were done in around 2 hours, and I had no hesitation in giving the guys a generous extra for their professionalism and urgency in moving. I had used this company before and Ill probably use it again, god forbid- I have to move again. For too long I have leeched off yelp reviews without writing any. We moved from a little one-bedroom apartment in Revere to a two-story townhouse in Waltham...with lots and lots of stairs up to the front door of the new place. When I say lots and lots, I mean about 50. We had a ton of stuff, and the guys moved it all with as much care as they would their own belongings. All of the furniture was covered with blankets to protect it, no matter how gouged and ramshackle it was. The only two negative things I have to say are that they arrived about 45 minutes late, but it was due to one of the movers being stuck on a train, so I guess I'll blame the MBTA, which I feel is much more deserving of criticism and blame. The other is that the job took a little longer than we anticipated, and we had to spend a little more money, but frankly, it was probably due to the insane amount of stairs they had to climb up at the new house. Overall, although it cost a little more than anticipated, it was the best experience I've ever had with a moving company and was well worth the money. read more

Best moving experience we have ever had! First: we were able to quickly book a move date for my elderly grandmother from Malden up to my parents' home in Topsfield. Then their prices were by far the best around with only a two hour minimum, other places wanted a 5-7 hour minimum charge. The guys arrived a few minutes early even, were very friendly and polite getting right to work. They were organized, hard working and very professional. They made great time doing our move and this was on July 5th in the ridiculously hot temperatures which they didn't even complain about. We made sure to supply them with gatorades and big water bottles. I will use their moving service for any move in the future. I recommend you do as well. One of the scariest parts of moving is figuring out which moving company to hire. You never know if the movers will actually show up and do a good job. Plus are you going to get handed a bill which will cause you to immediately declare bankruptcy??? I just finished a move with BCb today. This is the second time I have hired them. It was our first experience using a moving service and we chose BCB through a personal friend's recommendation, who worked with them in July 2014. BCB's movers were late to start the job because of a "clerical error", but we will not take star-ratings away for that because the three guys went above and beyond throughout the day and made right by the miscommunication. They were professional, efficient, and fun. My husband was called in to work and I was alone majority of the day, so they helped get creative when certain items wouldn't fit around corners; and rebuilding some items for me. They also helped organize each room, so that we could still easily walk in and around. These guys are awesome! Moved my stuff during a snow storm, no big deal. In fact, when they couldn't get the couch through the door up the stairs, they shoved it through a tiny window and carried it over a hill, through the snow, to the truck. Speedy, friendly, easy to book. Also, they always have "deals" like if you're moving to or from their base town, or other things, but without those deals, the rate is $90/hour which I think is less than a lot of companies. I had the movers come this morning to move two apartments into one. The only issue... it was down-pouring. Ronnie and (for the life of me, I can't remember his name) were two of the most professional people I've ever worked with. They had everything from my apartment in the truck in a half hour. 15 minutes later they were loading my girlfriend's things from her apartment. I've moved several times, each time with a larger succession of possessions. In this, my most recent move, BCB moved my crap from a sort-of-ground-level apartment to a FOURTH FLOOR WALKUP. With a long walk from the sidewalk to the front door. Somehow, they managed to do this a) in just under 5 hours, b) without breaking or losing any of my crap, and c) for the most inexpensive price I can recall in my moving history. They and were very careful with fragile items and wrapped all our furniture in blankets. They even showed up 20 minutes early! The rate was only $75 per hour, which is an awesome deal. BCB Moving did an excellent job with our recent move! They promptly provided us with a quote that was reasonably priced and comparable with other moving companies. The day before the move, BCB told us that they were providing us with a larger truck, which we were happy with. They arrived on time and they were very polite. I booked BCB moving for our move in May'12. The 2 guys that came were fantastic. They were stuck in traffic so I was really worried about having to pay a ton extra but they did not charge for their transport that took like 3x as expected. The guys were fast and professional. They worked hard and were efficent with packing up the truck and unpacking it. We moved from a 1 level apartment to a 3 level condo and they did a great job of getting things into the correct rooms as i directed them around. The best is that nothing broke! I know I should expect that everything to come in 1 peiece but we had a lot of large pieces and a lot fragile things like plates, glasses, and framed artwork. As stressful as the whole day was for reasons beyond our control (like a stairway too small for our couch!), these guys were a real joy to have around. Great experience! I did a move from Revere to Winthrop so I was looking for moving services not too far away. I called BCb based on their outstanding Yelp reviews. Definitely worth every penny! Great job, the guys didn't waste time, cleared out my apartment ridiculously fast and before I knew it they were finishing the unload at the new place. The price was a bit painful but comparable to other movers and very reasonable given how hard-working/great the guys were. Highly recommend. These guys have it all where it counts. - Friendly, mellow, professional service. These guys do not dilly-dally to squeeze out extra money: they moved two bedrooms, a living room and a kitchen in two and a half hours, which includes 45 minutes driving to the new apartment. Granted, they were about two hours late, but considering how bad moving and traffic are on September 1 in Boston, I would have been shocked to see them any earlier. - $110/hour for two guys and a truck, on peak season September 1st: this price absolutely cannot be beat. Other places were quoting $250/hour with a four hour minimum, and wouldn't pro-rate us if they were to do it in less time. - Because of difficult circumstances, we called at the last minute (five days before September 1) and these guys were able to get us in. Sean and BT were fantastic movers. They were professional, courteous, patient and asked a decent rate. I moved from South End to Back Bay and had some things in a POD in Norwood. BT and Sean met me ON TIME in Norwood and immediately loaded my goods into their truck. At my apartment in South End they wound up having to go down a flight of stairs and without a single complaint they cheerfully took on their duty. My new place is quite "process driven" and security yelled at them for not "following procedure." (It would have been nice if they told me when I asked them.) Still, rather than get upset the two patiently listened, complied and finished their task without complaint. This was the first time I've ever had movers, and I was completely satisfied. I didn't have a whole lot to move, but the things I did have were heavy and awkward. The movers I had were Kell and Timoy. They were both extremely polite, professional, and optimistic (which is the reason my couch even got into my new apt!). My fiancé and I moved from an apartment in Arlington to our first home in N. Quincy.
