I was certainly thinking of hyping this campus to my freshman niece. While I was there for a course I took notice of how folks congregated on the lawn, and the various lawn chairs, but the grounds provided both open and covered areas for study and social gatherings. The Rotunda itself is a beautiful centerpiece surrounded by pillars and paths floored by brick. Gardens everywhere. There's a small statue dedicated to the first president of the United States. It is centrally located, with academic buildings on one side, and mix of commercial buildings (food, snacks, banks, bookstores, UVA gear... ), it's all there. If you're a student you have quick access to everything. It's very convenient. Very impressed.

Or the ocean. Or animals. Or their parents and loved ones seeing their faces as they graduate from such a prestigious university. UVA is beautiful though, and, with perfect weather, the ceremonies made for a lovely day of celebrations. And trash. Water bottles, programs, balloons...........all littered on the grounds as if a mini wave of Coachella had blown through. Mr. Jefferson shed a tiny tear for the trash, but smiled upon the graduates who will go forth and Wahoowa!

If it's the afternoon the glare makes viewing a challenging. A door bell button activates a history of Poe's life and time at UVA. The staffing is pretty decent with lot of float pool nurse filling in the shortage gap. The nurse to patient ratio of 1:4 is nice, the hospital has a lot of resources to help the staff, and the cafeteria offer a diverse range of food. Many staff ride bike on campus so there are a lot of bike rack area to store your ride. Staff have to park off site and take a bus to the main hospital. It annoying that during the football season staff have to park somewhere else or risk getting ticketed/towed. All in all, a pretty good place to work at.

PVCC is an awesome and affordable way to earn a degree. They always have fun events going on the…read morefor the students and have a nice campus. The teachers are awesome, many of them teach at UVA as well. The biggest issue I ran into going to PVCC was the lack of availability of advisors. If you're on a general studies associates path- GOODLUCK getting an appointment with an advisor- I had to schedule an important meeting for a month away. Other advisors wouldn't take me either. I tried to schedule a quick meeting (a service that they offer) but they have not responded to me. Students need to have these resources readily available. I should not have to wait a month to find out if I can graduate or not.

Now that my prerequisites are done, it's just fitting to write a review of my experience at PVCC…read more Being a stay at home mom was great and all, but I wanted to learn something new. I was lucky that I lived close to PVCC and started taking some classes. I didn't really have anything in mind, not even a clear goal, I just missed learning. First step you have to go through: ADMISSIONS. Be very careful who you talk to here. The advisors have a different take on which classes you can take or not. Advice seems to change from person to person. They are there to sell and make money from the classes they offer. I got credit for most of my courses from my previous degree in a science-related field, but one advisor wanted me to take the math placement test and repeat college algebra. One and a half years later, another advisor, said I didn't have to take a math placement test and repeat college algebra since my general, organic and biochemistry subjects were credited at the college. I would have wasted time and money on a class I didn't really have to attend. Thank goodness that sensible advisor was there that day and she signed me up on Statistics I (I got A, btw). In addition, it's better to talk to Advising in person. Emails won't get you anywhere. PROFESSORS: I am totally impressed. I took Anatomy and Physiology I and II here, and my professor was an MD. The Statistics I class professor has a doctorate from UVA. The Lifespan Development (PSY230) professor has very good credentials, but I DO NOT recommend HIM. Do NOT taken this professor's online class (last name starts with R). That psych class was the only B I got. I hate recommending looking up these profs at ratemyprofessor.com, but i totally recommend it now. FACILITY: Cadaver Lab. Great for students who are serious about studying Anatomy. Not all CCs have this kind of lab, so students here are extremely lucky. TESTING CENTER: Smells like the pits. I am very sensitive to smells and I couldn't concentrate from the moldy smell from the carpet. PROGRAMS: It is a Community College, so only A.D.s are offered. Despite that, the programs are very competitive. During my time here, I've seen students compete like it's the Hunger Games (especially ADN hopefuls) because they only have a few seats in this program. It was what I initially wanted to apply to, and it made me sick to my stomach that I would have to do Battle Royale for this. HAPPY ENDING: As I have mentioned, I thought I was going to apply for an associate degree so I could eventually go back in the workforce after my stint as a sahm, but I got accepted to a 16 month Accelerated BSN program some place else. AVOID: I see a lot of MLM recruiting posted on bulletin boards and weekly job posting emails. It's even plastered in most cars parked on campus. Overall, it's a good CC, also affordable. I definitely recommend, especially, for adult learners.

Lovely spots in and outdoors to enjoy the architecture that is Jeffersonian. Benches and well maintained lawns make for a great spot to catch up on readings and just pass the day.

The memorial sits right off University Avenue.it sits on a calm lawn where students can sit and reflect on the folks kept to keep the UVA Grounds a beautiful place. It's a tranquil space. Along the inner wall, the designers carved the names, roles, and titles honoring the individual who labored on the grounds. It's a beautiful memorial on the beautiful grounds of the University.
