if you have long hair and care about keeping it - or want any semblance of a decent haircut - STAY VERY FAR AWAY FROM HERE i would give it zero stars or sadly -100 stars if able i had the worst salon experience of my life here recently i have had long hair my entire life (25+ years) and stressed OVER AND OVER how important keeping my hair long to me was - i stated OVER AND OVER that I HATE SHORT HAIR - and that i did not want a short haircut the stylist - JACKIE even pulled out a picture of herself with long hair and told me he "understood how important hair was" and that he "had long hair for over 30 years" apparently, it was a lie because i went in with 18" hair and left with a 1/2" short hackjob in the back this is no exaggeration, and my hair looks as if it was chopped with a hedgeclipper. i could have done a better job myself, or someone with no haircutting experience could have done a better job my hair did have breakage, but that started at 10"-12" - therefore we agreed that this was THE SHORTEST that it would be at the shortest point of the haircut. i brought in multiple pictures of a style i thought may work with the breakage, which was shorter in back than in front. so it was supposed to be 10-12" long at the back, graduating to the front, like an a-line bob, but on a MUCH LONGER level this wormen did not even cut my hair on any type of line or style that i requested, or anything like any picture i showed her, didn't section it off properly, just seemed to grab random pieces of my hair and hack it. it all happened so fast, and he turned me around to look, and to my horror i saw my bare neck and i was in shock as any stylist knows, even if you were cutting an a-line bob, which i DID NOT ask for - you leave the top layer long and it meets the underneath layer - which is the shortest. my hair is short everywhere - it is disgusting, no style, and completely uneven. even the manager told me i should not let anyone else touch my hair or cut it any shorter since it is already so short and uneven - just let it grow i do not understand or believe that a stylist with "30 yrs of experience" would ever do this to a client, nor do i believe it is acceptable from a salon of this supposed quality i have to call BS. nobody has "30 years experience" and has a client that states repeatedly that they "HATE SHORT HAIR" "DO NOT WANT SHORT HAIR" and "WANT THEIR HAIR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE" and still hacks your hair She stated that "you're too sexy & beautiful to walk around with your hair looking like you have it now - it looks like you don't know what you are doing" now it is clear that SHE is the one who DOESN'T know what he is doing this salon claims that they offer "toni & guy cutting techniques" there is no way in HELL this is true - the quality of the "haircut" i received was below that of a hair cuttery the salon is EMPTY - both when i went for my consultation and for my appointment, I was the only patron in the salon - that should have been my first cluen -do not make the same mistake that i did and trust someone you do not know i am now the very upset owner of an extremely short haircut that i vehemently stated I DID NOT WANT i have cried every day for 6 weeks. nothing will cure this but time, and I will probably never again trust someone to cut my hair after this horrific experience i am now a slave to extensions for years which is exactly what i stated i did not want to be, just wanted the damaged bottom of my hair cut off and continue to grow it out longer. extensions are the only way to hide (partially hide) the hell that is underneath. the hair is so short you can see the hack job both underneath - which is 1/2' long, and on top of the extensions which is about 3" long. there is no way to hide that and i am the one that now looks like an idiot with a wig on thanks to this jerk did i mention this place charges $65 PER HAIRCUT ??!!! HIGHWAY ROBBERY ! VIDAL SASSOON ONLY CHARGES $75 ! also - i gave a $20 tip because i am a nice person, not because She deserved it! obv, i was TOO nice! this price doesn't even include a decent shampoo. more like your grandpa running water through your hair and barely washing it. horrible. for this price you should receive an excellent shampoo and scalp massage. i received nothing. to make matters worse, when i was standing at the desk talking to the manager, stephen had the AUDACITY to come over and ask what the problem was, then tried to justify her hackjob by saying that my hair was broken to that point! 1/2" ! PLEASE READ!: This was the WORST EXPERIENCE I've ever had at a nail salon. Not only was I physically assaulted & pushed by a worker, had money forcefully thrown at me, lied to that a FULL bottle of nail polish was empty & unable to be used to fix my nails, I also left this salon with the most horrible gel manicure I have ever received. I came here & got a pedicure & gel manicure on Mother's Day with my mom & sister. The pedicure lasted about 10 minutes & I was left with half painted toe nails & hard calluses on my heels. After that I received the worst gel manicure with polish all built up in my cuticles & half painted finger nails. When we went to leave my mother was hounded by two employees asking her if she paid. My mother had to tell them TWICE that my sister had already paid for my moms services. They made us feel so uncomfortable. When I got home I was extremely displeased with the manicure so I called to ask if I can come in the next day to have them fixed. The lady on the phone told me to come in whenever & they would fix them. When I got there the next day I was IMMEDIATELY met with issues. The woman started to file off just the top coat & started to try to put a new top coat over my nails. I stopped her & told her she had to take ALL of the color polish off & re paint them because that was the issue. She proceeded to lie to me that she couldn't do that bc there was no more of that color polish left. Too bad for her the bottle was right there & I picked it up, opened it & showed her that the bottle was entirely full. After that I just wanted her to give me my money back since clearly this place is a scamming, untruthful business that I did not want to associate with. She told me no & that she would take them off & repaint them. She then proceeded to purposely hurt me as she took the gel polish off roughly & so I yelled & told her she was hurting me. She continuously rolled her eyes & scoffed at me the entire time. During the manicure I stopped her & told her that once again there was so much polish built up in my cuticles & that it did not look good, she then told me that I had bad cuticles & it was my fault it looked like that. I had about enough after I saw countless bubbles & fuzzes in the polish & told her to please not even continue to finish the manicure as it looked so bad. She angrily stopped & I told her to give me my money back. She agreed to give me my money back but then continued to top of the nails with the final coat. When she was done she threw my hands down & got up & walked away. A few minutes later she came back & asked me what I wanted, I told her I was waiting for my money back & then this is when the real issue happened. She started screaming at me telling me I wouldn't get my money back & to leave. I told her I wasn't leaving until I got a refund for this disgraceful work. She told me that the only way I would get a refund was if she took of the polish & then she grabbed my hands. I ripped my hands away & told her that I have a life & would not wait another hour in this place for the nails to come off. She then got cash from the drawer & threw it directly at me! I was astonished! She then proceeded to get up & walk around like a crazy person yelling at me to never come back. I told her I would NEVER COME BACK & that I would be writing a yelp review to expose this place. I also told her that I would be reporting them to the town of East Rutherford as they have an animal in this place of business which is so disgusting & unhygienic. Then as I was walking out to leave she pushed me on my back out of the salon & shut the door behind me. I was so shocked & could not believe what just happened. I went there on a Saturday night and they weren't busy at all. We had called beforehand to make sure they would be able to take us. She said as long as we come in the next 10 minutes it should be fine, which we did. I got a regular pedi and a gel mani. Pedi- she took off my gel from previous and did proceeded to do the routine pedi. What I noticed was that she never cleaned the nail under and as pictured below, she didn't cut the nails evenly. Also, she didn't bother to clean up some the nail as you can see in the picture. Mani- so I guess they were in a hurry to leave so they did my mani along with my pedi on the massage chairs. I had to turn off my massage because I realize how messy of a job they were at painting. First she took off my gel, which wasn't a problem, easy. After that she cut my nail and filed them then just painted the color without cleaning my hands or anything! She didn't cut off any excess skin or push back my cuticles! I was so confused. Then the way she painted was so bizarre. She would paint two to three fingers at a time and then switch hands as the other is under the UV light. She did this the entire process. Who does that?! Why can't you just do a whole hand and then switch off like a normal manicure?! I even told the front desk lady that site didn't push back my cuticles, sure told me that this lady does everything at the end, which makes no sense because without pushing back the cuticles, the gel will lift very easily. The lady that did mani didn't even cover my whole nail. You can see my bare nail on the edges as well. Overall the actual doing of the nails were terrible. I would not ever go back there again. It was all so ridiculous. It's almost like they don't know how to do nails. The only thing that was good was the fact they were all so nice, but being nice and doing a terrible job doesn't help. I had the worse experience ever at this nail salon. I came across this place looking for a new nail salon to come to regularly since I moved into a new neighborhood. I choose the most expensive services every time and usually come in 2x a month spending at least $150 for a uv gel tips and gel color mani and pedi with spa treatment and by the next day my gel color was peeling off. I called in and told them what was going on the woman then sounded mad that my polish was peeling asking me what I did , I said nothing it just started peeling. I went in at the time she told me to but she had me wait over an hour to be seen. When I was finally seen she had one of her workers who were not allowed to use the buffing machine sit there and file the polish off of my nails. This took a really long time. I asked her if someone who is allowed to use the machine could take it off since it will be a lot quicker and she said no one is available. I guess the Spanish women that work here can't use certain machinery and only are allowed to use files and do pedicures while the Asian women get to use the machines and they do mani's and stuff. Came off a bit racist to me. While she's saying no one is available one of the woman who does the acrylic nails (Patricia)who is allowed to use the machine is sitting on her empty desk watching tv. I said what about her she looks pretty available, and she just said no. I was confused like maybe she has an appt coming or something but instead she just sat there in that empty chair the whole time up until I left. I was so angry I wanted to throw a fit but I was like I will just keep calm and know I'm never coming back here again. This place deserves ZERO stars ! read more

While she was working on me I mentioned how I saw on the salon's Instagram how she was able to get hair from a black box dye to a nice balayage. That's why I requested her since my hair was also dyed black. She began to complain about that specific client in front of me, which shocked me cause I found it unprofessional to do that in front of a new client. When I was about to get my hair tone, she mixed the toner but she didn't apply it to my hair herself, she actually had a learning assistant do it. That also bothered me a little. I didn't pay for a blow dry but she blow dried the sides of my hair so I can see the results. From the sides I thought it looked good, but I never got to see the back of my hair. After I left the salon and my hair was completely dry I had a friend take a picture of the back of my hair and then I noticed how my hair actually looked. I was completely shocked. I live far away so I couldn't go back to the salon. I was so disappointed since I had seen some of her previous work and have liked the outcome of them. I had to get my hair fixed at another salon since I'm not going to trust them to fix my hair if they already didn't do a good job on the first try. I won't be coming back to this salon. read more

I've been coming here off and on, usually for regular pedicures, but sometimes for regular manicures & pedicures. I made an appointment today for a french gel manicure & regular pedicure. The pedicure was average, and I noticed that the technician took my polish in another room and seemed to have added something to it. I bring my polishes from home to avoid thinners and other things that salons use. I questioned her about it & of course she lied, but I let it go. Moving on to the . The technician seemed to know what she was doing and actually asked me questions about what I'd want... but I noticed she didn't soak my nails, didn't really clean them outside of cutting the cuticles, and then slapped primer on top. This was when I got frustrated and asked her why she was skipping all of the manicure steps I'm accustomed to. She claimed that soaking nails was bad for the application of gel polish. OK... what about actually cleaning them? Exfoliating my hands? Lotion?? We're just skipping to polish? I wasn't paying for a half-ass job, so I politely told her I'll take a regular manicure instead, and after giving it a second of thought, I cancelled the service altogether. Paid for my pedicure, tipped the technician for it, and left. I wrote this review for the owner to read, as he was not present at the time. In my opinion, if a service is offered there should be a standard that all technicians meet. I but many clients like myself were accustomed to the service they provided, and expect such. My second time here. Very unhappy! Ruined my hair. Didn't come out the way I wanted. Wanted full color and came out like a highlight. Said I wanted the balayage but didn't look like a balayage. Overpriced. The stylist and the receptionist was fully rude and not well mannered. Arguing with the client and trying to educate the client. Advertising they're doing color but was told you have to do a series of sessions to be able to get the full colored head/hair. It may be right but it is the stylist job to reassure what client wants. I did mention I want a total change as a celebration for my citizenship. I was crying and they were so mean and kept insisting I didn't tell them the full head color. Was told it will take 20-25 in the dryer and she came back 7 minutes after and said it is done. Didn't offer any resolutions to make the customer a little happier. Instead the receptionist wanted to call the cop on me for questioning the price that was not done the way it should be. And oh the original length of the hair was below the waistline and I wanted below the shoulder and came a lot shorter. Please do yourself a favor don't try to come to this place! read more

I got my hair cut and colored here and it looked cute for like a week max. The cut ended up flipping out all the time which I specifically said I didn't want. I can live with that but then my hair actually turned orange. Like there is a thick orange line around my head. I didn't want to complain so I didn't say anything but it got so bad that I finally called. I was told since it has been two months, they won't fix it unless I pay for everything again. Why on earth would I go back when I have hated the color this whole time? I even have pictures from two weeks after I had my hair colored and they still said too bad. They won't work with me at all on this. I was just trying to be nice and not complain (I thought it would fade eventually), but it had gotten embarrassingly orange so I finally called for help... and I'm told sorry nothing we can do. Save your money bc they are expensive. Go somewhere else. FYI, the picture where my hair is long is the color I wanted.. my natural color (was just trying to cover up some grays).. and the other pictures are what I got. Not even close. Just two minutes into my pedicure, not getting a warm feeling from this place and not feeling super confident here .. My nail tech seems very agitated? Should I ask her if she's ok or just let it go? She's kind of rough with my feet? The tech next to me offers her girl a drink, turns on the massage chair for her, makes polite conversation.. Hmm. My girl must be having a bad day. I was not offered my pedi tools to take home as the girl next to me was and from what many said were in reviews. She warms up a little toward end. This place is big, it must hold 50 clients. Hair waxing and many nail / pedi stations. I'm not a snob but this isn't for me. It doesn't feel warm, nothing special. I had my feet drying and as I was walking out I was looking for a trash can. I saw a little trash can maybe a foot high, I guess it is not intended for clients use? I asked if I could use it and the nearest tech kind of looked at me in shock as if "you really want to put your plastic cup in our dinky trash can?" So I went in for a quick manicure I visited the website before going and requested the classic mani because of the $15 price tag. During the service I was never asked how I liked my nails. The nail tech just started going through her manicure procedure, she did the proper steps for the service in the correct order, but avoided if I wanted my nails nor square or rounded or if I wanted my nails filed down instead of clipped. She then asked if I wanted polish or buff to shine, never mentioning buff to shine was an additional fee. I asked for the buff to shine and she said ok gave me a job my four year old niece could have beat. There was no shine more of a satiny matte finish. When I went to check out the lady quoted me a price of $18 I didn't want to seem like I didn't have to the money so I paid, tipped and left. I called back and the receptionist told me it was due to the buff to shine option I had chosen. When you're in the service industry please give notice to clients of additional fees to keep down confusion and bad reviews. read more

I have been going to this location for over a year and the experiences are never the same. However they take walk-ins and I usually got a manicure/pedicure completed quickly. After my last experience, I will no longer be receiving any services here. The quality in customer service has definitely gone down over the past few months. They use to offer you water but they don't anymore. They don't greet anyone who comes in just ask "what you want". & Kelly (the most sought after tech there) walks around with such an attitude that you never feel comfortable there. Most recently I paid for a gel manicure and a regular pedicure. Although the technician did a good job, the gel polish literally FELL OFF my nails in 3 days. I'm not sure what type of cheap, watered down products they are using but to have gel polish not last even a week on your nails is completely unacceptable. Do yourself a favor and check out another nail salon. You never know if you'll walk out with an amazing mani/pedi or a half-assed nail job. read more

I usually LOVE this place. The Owner is amazing, I've never had any complaints before today. I went in for a mani pedi and the pedicure was fine, but my nails were a totally different story. I don't even remember the woman's name, I don't think I ever even got it. However she was extremely aggressive with snipping my cuticles, three of which started bleeding, to which she never responded and just kept doing what she was doing. Then she painted two coats, which both left streaks and looked terrible so I asked her to do a third coat. After she applied the top coat (she painted the top coat on half of my nails looking annoyed) and smudged three of my nails. Luckily a super nice young women was working and she could see I wasn't happy so she offered to take a look and smoothed them out with a top coat. Since I had already paid and tipped prior to my nails being done I was irritated. Overall, I can't say I'll be back here. Not worth the hassle. read more

I am extremely disappointed in this place. My sister and I came in for a mani/pedi each. We requested to have manicure first, which seemed to annoy the ladies that were working on our nails. The lady asked me if I wanted to have my cuticles done. I was puzzled when she asked because I would think getting the cuticles done is automatically part of the manicure service. Fast forward to the pedicure service, the water was cold and she didn't turn the spa part of the tub. When I asked her to turn it on, she shook her head at me and said later. She looked at her friend, who was working on my sister and they both laughed. I didn't find it amusing in the slightest. The worse part about this was that both of our nails chipped on the same day! I have driven by In Style Hair And Nails many times, and decided to finally give the salon a shot .. I didn't have an appointment but they were able to get me right in, so it was nice that I didn't have to wait. The salon is run down and dreary, my pedi chair was broken so I couldn't get a massage and the chair didn't move or recline. but it didn't look much better so I decided to stay. The tools used appeared to be clean, the overall salon was clean but very bleak. The girl who did my nails wasn't friendly and did a fair job with the mani/pedi. Another observation is that the staff spoke broken English and I didn't see any Asians like most other nail salons. Although the staff was outdated , and it was a great deal I will not be returning. When I get my nails done I like to feel like I am being pampered, I couldn't get past the look and feel of the worn down salon. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. I walked into Instyles Salon in the best mood but walked out disappointed. The worst Nail tech experience I've had to date. Monica's bad attitude from the minute I sat in her chair was disgraceful. I booked my appointment in advance with Monica but when I was directed to sit in her chair she was not welcoming and acted like I didn't have an appointment with her.... I even got a confirmation text for my appointment with her! From there on it was eye rolls at me and she conversed with the nail tech sitting next to her the whole time. Extremely disappointed! If you're a new to the area or looking for a new salon I would not recommend booking with Monica. Went off the reviews on yelp and decided to give them a try as they were close to work. I walked in was instantly greeted and taken right to the pedi chair, I had come in for a dip and polish change. But.......WORST NAILS EVER!!! Asked for powder dip and she did a terrible job. Left all my nails uneven and a bunch of gunk under them. Pictures do no justice. Also be careful with parking, tiny parking lot and you just might have to park across the street and walk across busy Federal Hwy. I will never step foot in here again: worst experience thus far. My technician was friendly but doesn't seem like she was very familiar with dip process as I have never had my nails come out this bad. When I asked her about the gunk that needed to be filed by their machine she told me to scrub it off in the shower???? As if that would've done anything. Extremely upset!!!! read more

I came in here because of good reviews and because it looked clean. Frankly the experience was beyond disappointing. I needed a gel manicure and pedicure. The pedicure was OK. Nothing spectacular, and she barely cleaned. The gel nails were a total disaster. First she butchered the shape. Then when she was finished I had some weird black spots in them that looked like burst air bubbles. The solution was to file them down and re polish them. I spent an extra hour while she 'fixed' them. They looked like a joke afterwards with thick lines of polish on them. She kept pretending like she couldn't see the bubbles also the whole time, even though the other nail tech saw. I'm really mad I paid for this, and if it wasn't for being in my hometown and not wanting to cause a scene I would have demanded my money back. The Nail polish they use is very cheap.. I did my pedicure and gel manicure 3 days ago.. the nail polish layering looks off... And my gel polish manicure the lady cut my cuticles way too deep it looks terrible my skin is peeling off I will never visit this place again.. also got my eyebrows threaded here and the hairs are not pulled out they're just cut off she obviously don't know how to thread the correct way... and she did it slow and very painful instead of doing it fast it will be painless I'll just do my brows at Yodi Threading Spa on biscayne.. Look how she cut down my cuticles ?! Like this is obviously unprofessional.. I've been doing my nails for years and No... it has nothing do do with my own skin because if you look at my other reviews with pictures on my yelp page you don't see this ever happened.
