I googled nail salons near Smithtown and started looking at the highest rated salons and the reviews. I chose to make an appointment and give it a whirl. I wanted to try a new place and I was extremely satisfied with my service. I arrived late, (I'm nursing a 3 month old) and they were understanding so I was able to receive my services. I got a regular manicure and a spa pedicure. Beautiful job and beautiful salon. Very clean as well. When i went in it was at around 5:40, and they close at 7, so i really appreciated that they took me in. I asked for a coffin shaped ombre nude to lighter nude (gel powder), and i showed my nail tech a picture for inspo. The colors she chose weren't a perfect match, but she put in the effort to mix two colors to make one pretty close. The salon itself is so beautifully decorated with pretty signs and holiday decor, it's also huge so there's a lot of chairs. 10 mani 8 pedi. The length is like crazy long but that's more my fault for not asking for them to be shorter. She did the coffin shape well, I like the way they're all almost squares just slightly skinnier. The ombre is a little sloppy and you can see smudges on it that probably could have been easily fixed. Two other nail techs were watching and helping her do the ombre so i'm just not sure why they didn't tell her to fix it more. She also did something a little different than other salons i've been to which was do one hand at a time. She did nail file, dremil, sanding to one hand, finished, and then did the other. Overall i like this place a lot, just very expensive, 75 dollars for a few mistakes on the ombre. I also liked that one person consistently did my nails and she didn't get up until she was done. She pushed back my nail beds, cut my cuticles, had me wash my hands, gave me cuticle oil, dried my hands with hot towel, and then gave me lotion. They also gave me a christmas gift! read more

Terrible manicure. I've been getting powder manicures for years and this has to be the worst one I've gotten. Nails are extremely thick (7 coats of color dip) and crooked. After I brought it to the nail tech's attention, she said that thicker is better and she would straighten my nails out. Even after all of that filing my nails are still crooked. Other than the already increased pricing, which I knew about and sucked it up because of the a personal time constraint, they nickel and dime you for everything. On top of a $45 powder fill in, they told me the design I wanted (two swirly lines on two fingers) would be an additional $30 because she was using a different color polish. The girl doing my nails was scoffing at me, rushing the the entire time, clearly speaking ill about me to her co workers, laughing at my suggestions, made fun if my nails being so weak and short, and had zero patience with any polite requests I had made. I truly couldn't believe how she treated me to the point where I was actually embarrassed to say anything else because I thought the customers may have thought it was me that was being rude. I can't fathom how this business will last with such terrible employees. read more

After I followed my nail technicians to Port Jeff from St. James for the past 6 years, over 10 years with the same person (at least); they sold the salon. So time for me to move on and find somewhere close to home. I've tried 3 different salons. They were ok but not what I was looking for. Until now...Instyle Nails is it!! The manager, Madelyn actually listen and understood what I wanted. My nails came out perfect! I also had a spa pedicure with Allen, just as good. This is definitely my new place!
