After months of getting lashes done by Judy at Beauty by Judy, figured it would be a good time to write a review of her handiwork. Considering that I keep coming back every 2-3 weeks for my fills, well...that should say a lot to prove how much I love my lashes! I have in the past had individual lashes put on and it took a long time, hours, for them to be properly applied but the result was usually gorgeous. Trouble was, I couldn't keep up with the maintenance and life got in the way and I stopped getting them done. Cut to 2 years later. Summer of 2016. My natural lashes are more and more sparse with age (Waaaaaaah!) and I'm having trouble making my eyes "pop" with mascara. Time to try out lashes again! I head to Groupon and see Beauty by Judy's great deal of a full set plus 2 fills I believe for like $110, so both my girlfriend and I purchase and make our appointments with no issues. She's very prompt in returning calls and texts. The process is very easy. Judy is located inside the nail salon, "All About The Pretty" with a simple set up in the back of a bed with pillow where you lie down and basically take a "nap" for a hour. Which is what has happened to me on more than one occasion as I have fought to not start snoring in her face while she quietly works on applying your lashes. Just lay down and relax because once she is done, your eyes will look amazing!! I continually get compliments from complete strangers stopping me to say how they love my lashes. No joke. In Costco the other day, a woman who was selling some vitamins stopped me and said, "Your lashes are so beautiful!" I then told her they were fake and she was amazed because she thought they looked so natural. At the post office a few weeks ago, the customer service woman told me my makeup was "Wedding Day Perfect" and I was only wearing natural eye shadow, some blush and lipstick. She was in shock when I mentioned they were fake lashes. Now here are the pros and cons of lashes if you've never tried them. Pros: Gorgeous results! Judy uses a black glue so it looks as if I have eyeliner on naturally, so the benefits are no need for mascara or eyeliner unless I want to really dress up my makeup for a night out. My daily makeup routine now involves sunscreen moisturizer, blush, light eyeshadow if any and lipstick. Another pro is men really notice them and a lot of the time they can't figure out what is attracting their attention. Its quite amusing. Cons: Maintenance is involved! Gone are the days of eye rubbing. And you cannot let water touch these beauties for 24 hours after application. Also, I am very aware of how I sleep because sleeping on my side usually affects one side of my lashes and they can get all whacked out requiring some combing with a small lash comb to get them back into place. Reality part: Our lashes are constantly falling out naturally, its growth. And the fake lashes are attached to our natural lashes, so there will be times when you'll lose more lashes and it may freak you out. But that is why we need fills. I can manage to go 3 weeks between fills sometimes if I'm careful, but I think 2 weeks really keeps them looking great. If you don't want to deal with lashes falling out, stick with lash strips but they will NEVER look as natural as individuals. P.S...I get synthetic Mink lashes, but Judy has various kinds. It all depends on what works best for your natural lashes. read more

In the summer I like to cut back on makeup, I have naturally long lashes but love the way the extensions make them look fuller and darker. I'm all about the "all natural " look so I really stressed to Judy I didn't want to over do it and didn't want the lashes longer than my actual lashes. I don't appreciate anything more than when a beauty technician actually listens to what you want and don't want, she made them look perfect and lasted the full 2 weeks until my next fill in. read more

Pros: The business is run well. Judy, the owner, is kind and comforting in her approach. The location is convenient and parking is readily available. The hours are convenient and they are accommodating, even texting back to questions about appt scheduling. The prices are the best around! Middle of the road: The location is barebones and the environment is average. The lashes last for a typical amount of time (2-3 weeks before noticeable and a fill-in is needed). Cons: Having gotten lashes before, I was familiar with the experience. I found the lashes used to be irritating (a flat base) which I felt-- not a prior experience I've had, typically, I have not had the sense of wearing lashes. After the initial set was applied and also after the fill-in, I noticed that several lashes were secured to each of my natural lashes causing a clumped appearance. After being totally mistreated by the salon where i got my original lash extension set put on i decided to try Judy who i spotted on Groupon (dont buy the Groupon as she will honor the price without it). This is the 5th person i have gone to for my lashes in the past 2 years and by far my favorite. I told her i wanted a natural look and she did them exactly as i wanted them. When I first went to Judy I was new to lash extensions and Judy answered all of my questions patiently. She is kind and fun and makes the hour go by so quickly. Most importantly, she is an AMAZING lash artist. My lashes look incredible and they last quite a long time. They hold up very well. She is very hygienic and her salon is super clean. She is very careful to keep everything sanitary, which is so important with lash extensions. I recommend her to everyone. I'm now a lash addict. I hardly need any makeup now and I never want to go back to natural. Oh and Judy waxes my eyebrows and she does a great job. I'm very picky about my brows and she is awesome. I have to add that I've found that most people who have a negative experience with lash extensions are simply not following instructions. They cannot get wet at all for the first 24-48 hours. Oil based cleaners, makeup, mascara will all degrade the glue and the lashes won't hold up. Also the first night after an application I sleep on my back. I find if I'm super careful the first day or two after a fill in my lashes hold up amazingly. read more

I have been in the lash game for a few years now. I've been to many lash experts and have had many varying costs associated with the extensions. I found Judy simply by being stuck in traffic on Main Street smithtown and wanted to try a new local place, and boy am I glad I did! I've been faithfully going to Judy ever since! She without a doubt is the best I have encountered and she is so accommodating with my appointments. 5 star across the board. Not to mention what a sweetheart she is and I actually enjoy our biweekly visit and chats!! Compliments on my lashes are continuous and I try to spread the word. Best thing is Judy does all kinds of "beauty enhancements". Facials, microdermabrasion and now microblading! Judy's location in Smithtown is conveniently right near my house and she does great work! I get my eyelash extensions done by her and get compliments every day. She has such flexible work hours that helps with my busy schedule. She always takes her time applying the lashes and makes sure you are happy with them before you leave! I had gotten my eyelashes done by Judy two weeks ago before going away on vacation when I came across a groupon. It was $99 for one service plus a fill in. I have had eyelash extensions out on before and I had a bad experience so I was very specific in telling Judy my main concerns but she seemed quick to get things over with and dismissive of what I was saying. Now Judy was very nice but she was also very distracted while applying my lashes. It took about an hour to apply them and when the service was completed, they looked decent and she reassured me that the lashes would last throughout the duration of my vacation (in the pool/ocean, as long as I was gentle) and to my surprise, not 24 hours later when I woke up the eyelashes were already falling off, few of them on my pillowcase. I tended to then very well and was extremely careful around my eyes at all times but throughout the next several days being away, everyday they were falling out in clumps along with my real lashes. Now I am back from vacation, the lashes on my right eye are completely gone and my left eye looks a horrible mess. Unfortunately I will not be recommending Judy to any of my friends and will most certainly not be going back, not even for the fill that I paid for. read more

I had eyelashes applied by Judy and it turned out to be a disaster for my lashes. I never had lashes applied and didn't know what to expect. They looked ok but I always knew they were there. I started losing lashes day 2. By one week my lashes were missing and leaning in all different directions. Needless to say I looked ridiculous. So I went back earlier then two weeks figuring I did something wrong. She gave me a fill in same thing played itself out. I went to a place that came recommended and what a world of a difference. Unfortunately I only have less than 1/4 inch left of my lashes. The girls at the lash and beauty studio in commack saved me from Judy's hack job. read more
