Run away. Worst experience with any company I have ever dealt with. Look elsewhere. So many things they don't disclose up front. Here are the highlights: 1) Inspector: "no insulation in any of your walls" After drilling multiple holes in house walls on Day 1, the install crew says "all your walls are fully insulated already". Crew goes home after 90 minutes, "we only brought the supplies for the work today" 2) Day 2 Crawl space insulation: After 1 hour they stop work, they think 3 small pieces of tape on old ductwork are asbestos tape. Install crew goes home. Takes a week to get an abatement company out there, Costs $1500, no asbestos tape, just regular duct tape. Written abatement report and Outside lab air sample report shows zero asbestos. See #4 3) Day 3 Attic insulation: "You don't have enough roof vents and we think the roof caps don't allow enough air space" (newer roof 2015) you sign a disclaimer for us or $375 to cut & install 11 roof vents, had to argue to get an 18 month warranty on their work for 18 months for any roof leaks. 4) Insulation NW won't reschedule crawl space insulation until they inspect the abatement work "we don't trust the contractors" (they referred us to the abatement company) "they might have missed something", another 1 week delay 5) 3 weeks later from Day 1, crawl space insulation crew goes home after 2 hours, their 2 guys are too big to get under the floor areas in the crawl space. 6) Crawl space 3rd install attempt takes all day, 2 rooms they cannot insulate, had to get their estimator out to re-measure the square footage and reduce the costs of 2 rooms they cannot insulate. 7) Their office keeps sending out the same forms to sign with all the original costs, they won't adjust the cost (no wall insulation needed, 2 rooms crawl space they cannot insulate) until we escalate the issue. - Can't reach any management over 4+ weeks "Owners are out of town" - Installer: "estimators write up insulating everything but often it is not needed" - Installer: "don't feel bad one of our guys spray insulated a home furnace and started a fire, the entire house almost burned down" - Their installers are not trained to actually determine any asbestos, or test it, or encapsulating it (spray cover it and remove it) they text a picture - Every step of the way there were "surprise" announcements that negatively impacted the customer, no disclosures up front on any items that could delay the project. read more

They were great. I needed to sell my home for medical reasons. I lost a buyer due to a bad inspection report. I needed insulation in the attic and cellar. I called several companies they all wanted to sell me more than I needed offering 5 year payment plans. I found Insulation NW online. The sales rep gave me a price for only what I needed and gave me some extra things. the crew was great. They were knowledgeable, professional and cleaned up after we're finished. The crew that arrived at our house and performed the work exceptionally. They were clear on what they were to accomplish and did so efficiently. They answered all my questions completely and to my satisfaction. I left some questions with the customer representative regarding work that was was promised, but not accomplished, but as of this date have not heard back. The questions were in reference to initial information regarding the availability of a roof fan WiFi control that was not mentioned and work (cleaning) in the attic space over the garage. Regarding the below question as to would I hire again, the answer would be only if the CSR was more knowledgeable. At this time, I no longer wish to deal with Installation NW. Clean and remove existing attic insulation, disinfect mold that had accumulated, repair bathroom venting, install automatic roof fan and new insulation/facia venting to improve air flow. read more

Sales guy said I could cut my own holes and then patch them, which I did. I did not want any bays to be missed as some are very narrow. And I'm anal-retentive. They taped plastic on the floor (even tho the floors will be refinished). The masking tape they used pulled off some spots of paint in 1 area, but my own blue tape did the same thing nearby. So touching up the paint was no big deal. read more

Got spray foam insulation. It's was fairly straightforward. There was a mix up between the estimator and the work crew, and that added a delay for our project, but they were fairly responsive in trying to fix the issue. Spray foam looks okay so far. read more

I've heard good things about Insulation Northwest and also was recommended by multiple neighbors around me, so we gave them a try. Keith, very nice and professional, came out to give us an estimate, which we accepted that day and scheduled. Keith let us know the work will take 2 days. We were getting soffits installed all around the house, attic cleaned, and new insulation blown in. The first crew came out to clean the attic and install soffits around the house. This is where the problems started. They were not professional, lacking in communication, and were throwing things everywhere and in the attic. While cleaning the attic they damaged our ceiling drywall, which had to be remudded, texture, and painted by me. The soffit installer did not even pull out a measuring tape while installing the soffits. The soffits were spaced out poorly; some 5ft apart, some 3ft apart, and some 8ft apart. The crazy thing is, he only installed 9 soffits on one side of the house and the house is a 2000sqft rambler. The installer left screws all over the driveway that I had to pick up after them. After about 2-3 hrs of total work, the crew let me know they were done for the day and a different crew will come by tomorrow. Next day... no one showed up. Called the office, they apologized, and said a crew will be out the next day. The next day a different crew comes out and we thought they would finish cleaning the attic and finish putting on the soffits all around the house but... nope. The 2nd crew was only scheduled to switch out the 9 silver soffits with 9 white soffits. Getting frustrated with this nonsense, we reached out to the manager and let them know that the soffits were improperly installed and the attic was only cleaned by the 1st crew, they had the 2nd crew finish cleaning the attic. They also scheduled a field inspector to come out to see what the issue for the soffits were. The 2nd crew did a mediocre job removing all the big bats of insulation and junk from the attic. But when it came time to vacuum they gave me a excuse of, "we can't us the vacuum in the truck because it will damage the attic and the drywall, so we'll use a shopvac and clean whatever we can with it." After about 3-4 hours of total work, the crew left saying they are all done. Thinking the attic was cleaned to perfection, I went into the attic to find nothing vacuumed and still a bunch of things left up there that hasn't been cleaned. I called the manager directly and he said he would send a different crew out to vacuum everything up. At this point, I couldn't trust the work that this company was producing. A few days go by and a new crew (3rd crew) comes with a field inspector to evaluate what's going on with the soffits. The 3rd crew went straight to the attic and started to clean out the rest of the junk and used the vacuum from the truck to vacuum everything out (this is the vacuum that the 2nd crew said it would damage the attic and the drywall). The field inspector saw how crappy of a job they did putting the soffits and told me he would need to go to the office to figure out a game plan and let me know within a week. A few hours later, after the 3rd crew left, I went up to the attic to see their work and finally it was done well. It wasn't perfect but acceptable. A week goes by... I didn't hear back from him. I called the office and talked to him again and he said he's still trying to figure out what to do and would reach back out to me in couple days. Couple days go by... no phone call. I called to talk to the manager and left him messages and no call back. I texted the manager and he replied at 9:02am, "when can we setup a time today to talk?" I replied at 9:04am, " Sure. Anytime before 10:30am after 12pm would okay." Didn't get a call from him. The next day, I called the office to talk to him and the guy told me he would leave a note to him so he can call me back but still to this day, I have not received a call. It's very disappointing when I heard good things about a company and they don't meet the expectations. Not so professional. read more

I had a bunch of delays in my project and Jim always stayed in touch to see how it was coming along. I felt bad because I had to have it quoted 6-7 times because the project changed. I ended up getting 4 estimates to remove the rodents from my crawl space, fix and seal the duct work and replace all of the floor and duct work insulation. Of the 4, Insulation NW had the second lowest estimate for the job. However, they were the only company to come through with a thorough evaluation for PSE's rebate program. So, with the rebate factored in they were the lowest bidder for the job. They also came through with a bank referral for a 1-year no interest loan to cover the upfront costs of the project. They actually started and professionally completed the entire job on my ~1800 sq ft crawl space in one day. Ever had a honest contractor tell you that you don't need any work done? They're few and far between, and Keith with Insulation NW is one such person. He suited up and crawled around my crawlspace taking pictures for 15 minutes before returning with news that everything was in good shape. He sent me the pictures and was about to leave before I insisted on compensating him for his time (and saving me the cost of unneeded work). Doing a house renovation and had them clean out the attic in Des Moines. Apparently they didn't think we were going to check the attic. Well after later deciding to tear out the ceiling drywall, we saw there were massive spider webs and garbage everywhere still remaining. I asked for a rough estimate of spray foam in my unfinished garage. I was asked to send in an approximate sq footage of the garage and what I wanted sprayed. I did this and was told that I could not get a rough estimate unless someone came out to look at things. I said if that's the case then forget it. I wasn't ready for that. The guy says fine. I guess "times are good" for these guys when then customer is always wrong. read more

The office is a bit frazzled when it comes to communication but the guys who come out for the attic and crawlspace (two different crews) are AWESOME!!! They taped the floor from the crawlspace door (through the pantry in the kitchen) all the way to the nearest door out of the house. They had everything they needed before asking me to close the hatch so that dust wouldn't get into the house while they were working. When they emerged from the crawlspace they took special care to not touch anything (door, door handles, walls, etc) as they hauled bags and bags of dirty insulation and other damage caused by both mice and rats. Advice: When the scheduler calls to tell you what day. Plan to have the whole day clear for them. The crew will call you when they are heading your way. The crew that does the insulation seem to be more organized than the office staff. read more

Insulation NW repaired issues left in my crawlspace after my pest control contractor didn't do a very good job cleaning out my crawlspace. Clint was especially attentive and really wanted to help when other contractors would not. He found a way for Insulation NW to repair what was there without having to completely replace all of the insulation that had been recently installed, all at a reasonable price. I was very appreciative of that after spending thousands of dollars on the poor job done by the previous contractor. The two men who did the actual crawlspace work were great, as well as the people in the office (scheduling and billing). We had a very extensive insulation project on our 1975 home. It was a bit expensive however, it was necessary, and as they say "buy cheap buy twice". Complete removal of blown in insulation. Replaced with bats, three penetration through roof for bathroom ceiling fans, hook up of vents for the fans, and a list of other insulation concerns. Looks fantastic. Should extend the life of our new central air and furnace. No noticeable mess from their work. Complete clean up. Sonny and the crew were great to work with. Our only disappointment is with PSE rebate program. PSE said this scope of work did not meet THEIR rebate criteria. Anyway it was a great job. Very professional. I hired them to insulate and put down a new vapor barrier in my crawlspace a year or so ago. I took a quick look after they were done, and I was impressed. Had them out to look at another job awhile back and they went into the crawlspace to just check on things while they were here, and I didn't ask but was happy about it. Reminded me that I needed to fix the crawlspace exterior hatch that they had offered to fix originally but I told them I would. Guess I'd better get on it but all else was good. Two days ago, I was under the house running some new wiring and got to really see the work they had done. My son who was helping commented before I had a chance to say anything. Wow, what a beautiful job those guys did. Yes indeed. I am a retired contractor and I have never seen a better job. Most of the area was hard to get to because the clearance was really tight. They were done in a day and left my crawlspace spotless. I recommend them and the price I paid was about half what another company wanted. read more

Bill went to the house, surveyed the attic, and provided the quote the same day, which includes the PSE credit. The work was scheduled the next few days but it was cancelled several times because of the weather (this was February during "snowmageddon"). They keep me informed throughput the process and letting me know of the status. On the first week that the weather improved and snow melted on my roof, they are back and did my 2,000 sq ft attic in 1 day. I went to the attic to check their work and it could never be better. My house never felt this comfortable. read more

Where do I start?? My neighbor referred these guys as he had a good experience so I called. My neighbors price was certainly reasonable and his home was larger than mine. The sales person arrived, did the walk through and quoted me over 2k more than my neighbor paid. I questioned the price and he hemmed and hawed and came back with what my neighbor paid, or close to it. We scheduled the removal, and mold remediation as we had a few spots of black mold in the attic. The workers arrived and removed the insulation and we paid the amount requested. The mold remediation was then scheduled, which went well and was also paid for at the time of that service being performed. We then scheduled the soffit work and the insulation installation. That work was completed, I would say reasonably well, and when the the work was performed paid the money that was requested. Not 100% pleased as a number of my can lights are now crooked, 2 no longer work, and one of my bathroom heat lamps no longer work. I will figure that out, frustrating but not the end of the world. Fast forward to now, over 7 months after the work was completed and I get a call from the salesperson quite rudely telling me that I need to pay the additional $1300 owing,(which was never once billed in a formal way) and that their bookkeeper had left and accounts were a mess. As it turned out, we did indeed have a balance owing, however not through my fault as there was nothing ever billed and we were told at the time that each worker showed up, what the amount would be and paid that amount. I was treated so rudely, having an exemplary credit score but treated as if I was late in paying a balance, when in fact we were totally unaware. I would not use these folks, their workers were great, the salesperson however seemed quite dishonest, and their bookkeeping is a train wreck. read more

I went the route of getting three bids to clean my crawl space and install new insulation. The highest bid was $1125 higher and the next closest bid was hundreds higher than Insulation NW. Not only that, they quoted a higher R value insulation and all the extras the others were bidding. As someone on a fixed income, I appreciated that. I received their bid on Wednesday of this week and here I am Friday night sitting in a much cozier house. Their two man crew showed up at 7:15 and by 3:00 pm I had a clean and well insulated crawl space. They wrapped the pipes, sealed the ducts, and plugged a couple holes in my foundation vents where rats had previously entered. I would highly recommend Insulation NW and will call them in an instant if I need further services. Do yourself a favor and give INW a chance. You won't regret it. Install date March 23, 2018. L. If I had to rate insulation Nw on scale of 1-10 I would give them a 6. The insulation work was as detailed until it came to final phase which was laying down the poly cover in crawl space . They just put the film down without anchoring it , after I asked the crew to secure .Actually they took a couple of bricks I had on side of house and used on film to weight down! The communication at the office is a bit crazy and you have to stay on top of them for dates but the work is worth the effort. I would ask for Keith and Alex to be your crew and things will go fast and professional. Mark was the bid guy and he was super knowledgeable about what was needed and went into detail, the other bidders were less organized. The work was fast and at a great price.
