Recently completed the Junior Basic Obedience course with my crazy puppy, Luka. Sandy G and Carrie…read morewere great instructors. Sandy was responsive to my questions via email and a very helpful, friendly person overall. I learned so much about how to train a dog. We went from him pulling, barking, not listening at all to me to a SO much more polite puppy that actually started to look to me for cues and commands. Amazing difference in 6 weeks. This place is run completely by volunteers (thank you!) and the prices for the group trainings (meet once a week) are affordable. Yes, it is loud in there and yes, you won't get much one on one since it's group training. But we really benefitted from taking this class. The noise and distractions actually helped me in training redirection. The homework that was given each week was very easy to follow and it was easy to show my husband and son how to be involved in reinforcing the training at home. We look forward to taking more group trainings here. This has been an awesome outlet to burn some mental energy and bond with my dog.

What should have been a positive experience for me and my dog, often felt more like a clique where I was made to feel unwelcome. Unfortunately, the attitudes and behavior of some members left a very negative impression on me. A dog training club should be a place where people can learn, support one another, and enjoy their dogs without feeling intimidated or judged. Based on my experience, I would NEVER recommend this club to anyone looking for a friendly and supportive environment. I will NOT be renewing my membership. My dog deserves better.

Between the puppy teething bites, sled dog walks, terrorizing the mailman, and little dog ego, we knew we needed help. We called Sharon with BarkBusters, and she is an absolute game changer. At home training, No treats, No Tricks needed. Our furbaby is 6lbs of fierceness, and like his dad he wants to establish dominance in everything he does, including over our 2 cats and the entire household. In just one visit, Sharon taught us to think like a dog and how to lead the pack. Learning how to actually say NO in a language dogs understand has been groundbreaking for us. We've had dogs before, but we learned more in one session with Sharon than we did in a lifetime on our own. The future is so bright for our puppy Oliver, and we have Sharon and Barkbusters to thank for that!

We already had a well-behaved, but sensitive black lab mix. Sharon spent hours with us talking about canine psychology and working on attentiveness training. We worked with the dogs on the first visit, both at home, walking around the neighborhood, and at unfamiliar locations so we encountered another dog. The first day of training made an IMMEDIATE, huge difference; we were shocked and thrilled. The black lab was incorporated into the training too. She talked plainly with us and was realistic about interventions we would and would not be able to make for the dogs. She was awesome, we've seen lasting effects with our Staffie, and we plan on having our second session soon to follow up on our homework. Thanks Bark Busters!

She loved to tear up newspapers, tissues and all sorts of paper. She ate headphones and remotes. She listened when she wanted to and turned everything into a keep agame. She has yet to grab a remote, we are still careful with them especially when we aren't in the room. The transformation it incredible! Carrie, Samantha and the whole Doghouse gang are highly recommended! Thank you for laying a good foundation for us to follow! We are happy and proud to be part of the Doghouse family! Update: Poppy has been home a while and she and we continue to learn and grow. People who meet her are amazed she is so young yet so well behaved! We can not thank all the gang at the Doghouse enough, especially Sam! She has been patient with us and continues to help as needed.

I have a 3 year old pit-mix named Blu. He is not absurdly disobedient he just had a few problems…read moresuch as extreme pulling on the leash and easily excitable around other dogs and new people. Angel was a very nice individual and the training price was very appealing compared to other trainers. I was not informed that the training relied heavily on the e-collar until I arrived at the training location to drop Blu off. I have already had an e-collar at home for a while and it only improves his behavior when he wears it. I thought the training would be something like positive reinforcement training or any other training technique besides using the e-collar. I went with it only because I figured she was a professional dog trainer and not a first time dog owner like myself, so she probably knows how to properly train with it. I went with the three week board and train program that is offered because it was the best option for my work schedule. From day one of the three week board and train program Angel assured me that communication would be top tier and I wouldn't have to worry about that. She was very nice and said everything any dog owner would want to hear when entrusting their dog with a complete stranger. Nonetheless during the three weeks it was extremely hard to get in touch with Angel. I would text for a check in to make sure everything was going good every now and then, but I wouldn't receive a response for days on end which was very alarming and I was extremely worried. I gave Angel the benefit of the doubt and chalked it up to be that she was busy training Blu. However this lack of communication continued throughout the entire three weeks which is unacceptable. On the day of pick up Angel offered to take me on a walk through in Home Depot with Blu to demonstrate the process of continuing the training at home. This walk through was explanatory and she provided useful information that I could use at home with Blu to keep up the improvements. This was a pleasant experience and I felt she explained and demonstrated very well. Once we were departing from Home Depot taking Blu home I noticed wounds on his elbows paws and his back legs. I immediately messaged Angel and asked for an explanation. I waited two weeks to give her a chance to respond before leaving my review, but I have yet to hear anything. I am very frustrated that Blu was sent home with injuries and no explanation as to what happened. Upon returning home Blu's behavior such as jumping on strangers from excitement seems to be the only major improvement. It still happens occasionally but not with everyone like before. He also continues to pull on walks even when I use the e-collar, the pulling seems to ease once he's exhausted himself. I follow all the routines and instructions Angel provided at Home Depot, but Blu reverts back to his previous behavior anytime the collar is off. I was informed that it would take time and repetition to see real improvements but it seems as though his good behavior is reliant on the e-collar. Angel informed me this would only happen if I put the e-collar on only when going on walks. However he wears it all day and I remove it at night as instructed. Overall the experience was not great but I would assume this is the reason the other training prices are so expensive. I believe the service was extremely overpriced for what I received, and I feel as though I've just paid $1400 for an e-collar and a few pointers.

Angel was able to use all of that in a constructive way to help Baylee learn some boundaries. Thankfully Angel was very open with communication and sent updates frequently which was a big ease on our minds because we felt we could trust Angel, even not knowing a whole lot about her beforehand. We picked up our Vizsla yesterday and there is a huge difference in discipline. Obviously the first week back with us will be the most challenging, but if we do our part, there's no doubt in my mind that these new "tricks" will stick for good. We highly recommend Angel as a loving and hard working dog trainer.

At that point, we decided to enroll with Sit & Stay Academy. From what we saw the facility is clean and well-kept. The dogs are in large cages and we did not see "overcrowding" that the others are reporting. From what we saw, the staff are very attentive to the dogs there. Clark is great and definitely know their stuff! Sanchez was there for about 8-9 months with weekly visits/training classes for ourselves. We have had Sanchez home for about 2 months now. He is like a new dog. He does not have any desire to hump the other dogs. He really doesn't want anything to do with them in terms of messing with them. They can all lay beside each other and nothing bad happens. Yes, the training can look a bit rough, but that's because we haven't done training on any of our dogs and it was new to us. The program was definitely worth the money. Sanchez is super obedient now and life is great. Thank you Sit & Stay Academy!!
