We had this lady who was unfortunately diagonal from us (so it sounded like she was in my ear) snoring the entire time so it really didn't let me get into the "zone". There's absolutely nothing to do there if you're not going to sit in one of their sound baths because they require reservations, they make a ton of money on those sound baths and could care less about anybody else stopping by. I had plans to be in Joshua Tree this past weekend and made an appointment to stop at the Integratron on my way to J Tree from LA. Wow, this is going to be my move every single time I find myself in this area. I honestly don't know why it took me so long to check this place out but boy was it worth the wait!! I actually missed the parking area on my first go around but it brought me to this neat little historic plaque about the Integratron (see pictures). I turned around, parked, and entered the desert oasis. I still cannot believe how awesome this place is. From the outside waiting area to the hammock lounging to the bathrooms to the magic of the dome, it was just an overall incredible experience. The Sound Bath was magic. Pure magic. I had a public bath (and contrary to everyone's beliefs - there is no water involved, rather you are bathed in the magical sounds of the quartz bowls). There were approximately 25-30 people in total and only a few snorers. I drifted into a meditative state about five minutes into the sound bath and came back to with about five minutes to spare (thanks to the movement of my neighbors). It's so hard to describe what exactly the Integratron is so I will just end this by saying, you have to go and experience it for yourself. I was thrown out of a star party held at the Integratron years ago--my uncle got hammered on tequila and started some shit with one of the junior astronomers, and we were asked to leave. It was humiliating, and needless to say, my shame has kept me away ever since. That being said, I had a great time at the Integratron up until that point, and I hope the rumors are wrong and this place sticks around, because I loved my sound bath and the community there. My uncle is dead, I myself no longer drink, I have a kid now, and I hope this place is around in a few years, because I would love my son to experience the stars properly. read more

The most monotonous and inharmonious sound bath ever experienced! A money making machine seams to be the only motivation for the family that runs it. That's the feeling I instantly sensed from their attitude. From the rushed historic introduction by the "sound therapist", the owner cousin, ( he replied to me that he has to speak fast since they are on a time crunch! ) to the impatience of the owner giving safety instructions on how to climb the stairs made it clear his only concern is not to get in trouble. Make sure to have a hand full of Psilocybin before the session, that might spice things up a bit, the ones who describe it as ua trascendentale experience must be under the influence.They would have had the same or better epiphany in front of their lava lamps and a random meditation playlist. If you are really into acoustics, for the same amount or less, I recommend you buy yourself a ticket to the Disney hall where at least you can hear real talented musicians not impatient and unskilled pretend to be sound healers! read more

The staff and experience of the Integratron is amazing but at $60 per person is a bit steep. I remember it being $35 on my first visit. I understand that prices for everything has gone up since the pandemic because of shortage of products or logistic issues but this here, is a service so I am boggled by the uptick. I am hoping that someone on the staff reads this review and make some adjustments because I have been telling almost everyone I met that I thought would enjoy this experience about this place and maybe its my fault that they have increased demand. read more

I've visited 3 times and each time was completely different in so many ways. The first time a few years back, was prompted after watching Anthony Bordain's no reservations. He visited the California desert with Josh Homme of the Queens of the Stone Age who showed him around Palm desert and then the high desert. There's a 2 minute video of their Integratron visit on his site. Back then before they became more sophisticated with an internet site to book reservations, you could show up on a designated weekend, pay your $20, and wait your turn to get in. Now you can book way in advance. There is a cute little gift shop with shirts, water bottles, and a Moby CD for purchase. The acoustics in this little dome are fun also. The grounds will keep you busy with little art installations here and there and depending on the time of year you are visiting, you'll be trying to warm up by the fire, or cool down under the misters. I like swinging in the hammocks. There's plenty of chalk to share your message or leave behind a creation or two. Once inside the main attraction on the ground level, there's much to read about the history as you wait for the prior group to descend and then you get to climb up the ladder one at a time. I prefer not to color your experience once inside. I always enjoy coming and have noticed so many improvement to the grounds and even the group experience. They now have mats with elevated wedges for your head that certainly has cut back on the snoring problem. If you can turn off your head, you will really appreciate this experience. It is very difficult for me to remain conscious. I tend to fall asleep yet wake up refreshed. I look forward to taking more friends there. The acoustics inside the dome are surreal. Make sure you visit during your next Joshua tree experience. Afterwards ask for directions to take the cut off road to Pappy and Harriets to complete your high desert experience. read more

This place. Holy moly. First off, do not believe any of the bad reviews. It is probably because they did not listen or abide by the rules. Rules are in place for a reason and if you cannot follow them then you deserve to be treated accordingly. I LOVE this place. I live in Houston and am already looking to go back and I was just there LAST week. You have to be on the ball and book this place ahead of time, so stop Yelping and go book! It is literally the MOST relaxing place I have ever been to in my life. Go about 45 minutes early, check in, go to the bathroom, and sit in the hammock village, but DO NOT talk on your cell phone or talk to your friends. If you are here it is to RELAX not social hour. Wow what an experience I have been wanting to come to the Integratron since I first learned about it back in 2009!!! Grateful that I was able to attend a gong ceremony and finally fulfill one of the few things on my bucket list. The property if VERY unique and wonderful. Seems like it would be a great and creative space to stay in for a few days. The Integratron itself was magnificent. Constructed of only wood cement and glue the naked wood beams and domes inside were so beautiful and calming. The bottom level is full of interesting artifacts and articles about the land, site, time it was built, and Professor Robert Van Tessel who was the builder and scientists behind the Integratron . The second level leads you into this beautiful dome room with skylights. It's the perfect space for meditation, realizations, and relaxation:) read more

Sound Bath was absolutely unlike anything I've ever experienced before. The sound the positive energy all made me feel restored. Arrived early and took a nap in one of the hammocks. The gift shop had some cool stuff everything from crystals, T-shirts, sweaters, socks, stickers, cups, mugs etc. bathrooms are very clean and nice. It was like an oasis in the middle of nowhere. I would definitely come back again. I felt rejuvenated at the end my body felt like a weight was lifted off of me. Definitely recommend coming out here for this one of a kind experience. Although Tassel never finished this project to his complete vision, it is still an amazing work of architecture and an amazing acoustical experience. Originally constructed to be a high speed time travel modem and to extend ones natural life span, it has turned into a place of spiritual healing, and musical sound baths in the middle of Joshua Tree. This is not a place one happens upon. Located deep within the sun-strafed landscape of Joshua trees and bare-rock outcroppings on a series of progressively smaller roads you wind until you finally see it. A bright white dome jutting out from the Mojave desert. The Integratron was constructed without nails, screws, flashing or weather stripping, yet it is weatherproof. The inside of the building is an engineering marvel in itself. You enter through the double doors and a small stairway takes you from the ground floor where there is a plethora of items to peruse that share the history of the Integratron. Upstairs you will find the open, airy space composed of 16 rectangular windows that offer 360-degree views of the desert. The building's wooden ribs, fashioned by shipbuilders, vault to the top of the dome. With the exception of a one-ton concrete ring that fixes those ribs in place, the whole thing -- floor, walls, ceiling -- is made of wood, old-growth Douglas fir from Washington State. It's not only the shape of the Integratron that is the draw . . . it's the sound. The amazingly created natural surround sound. This is the space where sound moves "through" you. Moves you and transports you. It is an acoustically perfect space. It's curvilinear dome and reverberating wood, act as natural amplifiers, a surround-sound stereo system in the shape of a building. For a reasonable fee, you and a few closest friends can rent the space overnight. Partake in the incredible sound bath, camp outside, sleep inside upstairs / downstairs or in the comfy hammocks. This is one of my most memorable moments. A spiritual connection shared with some of the most amazing people I've ever been blessed enough to have met and am privileged to call my friends. I'm not someone who embraces woo-woo things. I'm more of a woo-woo skeptic. Still, I found the south bath to be very peaceful and it led to some introspective, meaningful thoughts - thoughts I wouldn't have had if I hadn't put aside time to quietly be in a room with other people while crystal bowls were being played. In fact, I let my thoughts run all over the place as I listened to the music during the sound bath. Some people do go right to sleep, which is understandable but annoying. The sound bath leader did say for attendees to wake a person up next to you if they're snoring, but...that's a bit awkward. One more thing: if you have someplace to be afterward, you should be aware that they don't announce when the hour is up. At least they didn't at my sound bath. I was the first person to leave and to my surprise, I had been there over an hour and a fifteen minutes after the start time. read more

First time doing the sound bath at the Landers Integratron after years of researching George Van Tassel and his creation in the desert. It was quite an experience. One I will do many more times I hope. We're already planning our next trip out to the desert. The experience is truly unique. You can have a sound bath anywhere but the acoustics and layout of the Integratron makes it truly unique and more Immersive than any other place could pull off. WOW!!! - Phenomenal!!! My wife & I had our first experience with a sound bath at the Integratron. I had previously assumed this would be a one and done adventure for us. I was wrong. We will be returning for a number of reasons. I had never experienced a sound bath before. I would have to assume anyone who has experienced a sound bath, has never experienced it quite like what the integratron has to offer. Music is a performed art. No two musicians are the same. I'm sure the same can be said for a "sound healing practitioner". The environment and the acoustics associated with the architectural design is something that just can not be replicated anywhere else. I don't believe in hocus pocus or magic. We can all marvel at a magic trick, but in the end it's just a trick. I do believe in the power of the body to heal itself. I do believe in the power of positive thinking. Not name it and claim it, but our minds can set us on a journey either positive or negative. Most importantly, I believe in the power of prayer. Our first experience at the Integratron was well worth the price of admission, just for pure enjoyment. For me, this "sound" bath, was a concert of sound like I had never experienced before. For me, this sound "bath", provided a cleansing I had never experienced before either. For me, I prayed to God, that He would use this experience to help cleanse my mind, body, and soul. God will often answer our prayers when they are in alignment with His will. I felt that with the experience of my first sound bath. God provided a healing through this experience for me. If a person is not open to the healing nature of a "sound bath", you might not experience much. If you are open to it, you might just get more than you expect. read more

They need to be more transparent about the accessibility of this attraction. Be clear here- if you are old or "non-nimble" by any stretch- this is not for you. They do not make clear that there is ONE and only one way to get up to the second level of the sound bath. It is a steep wooden ladder that you must climb to get to the platform . An elderly man was escorted into the dome- the guide said he needed to be able to climb the ladder . He could barely stand. To preserve his dignity in front of 30 people he said yes. While the guide is giving directions the man was struggling to get up the steep ladder with a man above and a person supporting him from below. It was excruciating. He finally reached the top. Then we started lining up to make the ascent . An older woman and her friend were next. The woman made it to the top and my friend stepped to the bottom of the ladder - then everything happened at once, so fast. The other woman fell, head first , upside down, back through the hole and hit her head on the step( rung) , then her shoulder, then her leg went through the railing. Next came the blood. Truly one of the most horrific things I've ever seen or heard. I ran out yelling for help. Since you are in the middle of the desert, it took a while for emergency vehicles to arrive. We ended up leaving. I called today to inquire about her and I was told she was " in good care " I asked if she was paralyzed and was told no , but was then told that was all they could say. I just wish they cared less about cell phones, snoring, bathroom breaks, shoes, etc and cared more about the safety concerns of this place. I am amazed that there are no ADA regulations met. FFS, just build a ramp in the outside back of the dome....would that somehow interfere with the sound experience? the payoff of safety would outweigh any negatives. Everyone who visits the Integratron does so for their own reasons. Maybe you saw it when Anthony Bourdain was there. Maybe you're aware of it because you're a fan of everything space alien and visitation and Venusian what-not. Maybe you're into all those magnetic lines in the earth. Maybe you're the whole show, baby. Maybe this is exactly what you've been waiting for. I just wanted to see something from the Atlas Obscura. I also am into music and sound and I wanted to feel what it was like to have a sound bath. There, that's me. I made loads of jokes about time travel before I went, but I was very respectful while I was there. Being inside the dome is like being in the body of a guitar, with all the wood and bracing. In a guitar, the bracing provides tension and support, and it also creates a certain timbre. I thought about that while I was lying there looking at the dome. When the man who was guiding us produced sound from the bowls, I could definitely feel the sound being shaped by the building. It was great. If you get a chance to visit, please do! Make a reservation, can't get in without it. The days I could go were booked up, but I kept checking back and was able to take advantage of a cancellation. I just have to say this next part. The man who guided us was one of the most passive aggressive counterculture types I've ever encountered. He was full of simmering hostility, barely kept it below the surface It popped up all over the place. He did that thing where he would smile while saying something hostile, as though to indicate that he wasn't really being hostile. Nobody was fooled. We were all wary of this guy. He went on at length about people who "travel" during the sound bath and snore. On and on. Then he said, "Everyone say together, please don't snore." Of course we all said it, and then he said in that pretend joking deadly serious way, "31 people have just asked you to not snore. That's very powerful." I wanted to do something different for my birthday and my husband took charge and booked a reservation! It's a decent drive from LA to Joshua Tree so be sure to make a weekend out of it. When we arrived, we were the first of our group. There's a big unpaved lot to park on and checked in. After that, we browsed the grounds - beautiful landscaping of desert succulents and cacti, statues and hammocks to relax in. They also have multiple restrooms on the premises too which is nice. Once it was time, the gathered us outside of the structure and went over the basics. Once inside, there was memorabilia on the walls and they discussed the history. I was the first to go up the ladder and enter the second floor. The crystal bowls were laid out and in front of it were rows of cushions with blankets and pillows. Extra blankets were available too for anyone that wanted extra comfort and warmth. We choose two spots and got situated. It was really cool to gaze at the architecture of the structure and hear more about why it was built. I won't give that away! It was time to close our eyes and enjoy the sound bath. The way the sound traveled around that dome was insane. The vibrations too were a trip and was very relaxing and emotional. Some people breathe loud, doze off and even snore. It's polite to nudge them if they do snore just because the sound travels intensely and someone could be snoring from across the room and it sounds like it's right next to you! Completely Disappointed! They people running this place need to get better attitudes! I booked 4 people for a sound bath. We were given tons of instructions on arriving 30mins early (no one was there) bringing masks and vaccination info (we had everything but they were still rude) but... gave zero info about the experience of the session. My simple understanding was we would relax in the building and listen to the singing bowls. Instead it was long boring talks about the building, guys with BIG EGOS going on and on talking about themselves, and tons of repeated rules and directions of what they wanted you to do. From what they wanted you to say and think while there?!?! I'm fine with rules but that should be done before the session started. Instead it was done 3 times in one hour!!! Once in the upper building they have "beds" so close to each other I kept being touched by the people around me. You were never allowed to just relax and enjoy anything. It was a complete waste of money and time! You couldn't even buy anything at the gift shop because no one was ever in there. I'm a Reiki Master and Meditation instructor. I would never run my sessions with so little concern for my paying client and their experience. These owners are just trying to squeeze as much money as possible out of people. They run things like a mill with back to back sessions all day long. Again...completely disappointed!! I would NOT recommend it!!! read more

Went with a friend at the beginning of December. The sound bath takes place in the upstairs of the dome. They provide blankets but we were so distracted by how cold our hands, feet, and face were it completely took away from the purpose of being there. Downstairs, where you leave your shoes, is nice and toasty for whatever idiotic reason. Enough right there to make me never return...I can't imagine how miserable it is in the desert heat of summer. If you drive from the I-15 there is nothing around this place (but random trailers and shacks)...for miles and miles. It's straight creepy. Went back through 29 Palms/I-10 just to make sure civilization still existed. The guy at the gift shop seemed to not want to discuss anything when asked if he could give us an idea of what to expect. He pointed us to videos in the back as if we were bothering him. Cool. The guy who did the sound bath was a complete moron. He seemed to be reading info/tips about the process very fast, very bad, with complete lack of understanding of punctuation. I heard something about water and aliens and god knows what. It all jumbled together. Energy healing and meditation requires good energy guidance. He had none. As for magnetic healing factors? Two days later I was sick as a dog for days with the flu. Last time I had the flu I was a kid. Willing to bet those blankets were the culprit. These people ARE a bunch of rednecks, as someone mentioned, who really don't like the human race. Do yourself a favor and book a sound bath in Palm Springs or LA for a much better experience. Our appointment was at 4:45PM and oblivious me didn't read the instruction properly - they asked that we arrive 30 mins prior to appointment - and well, we made it 1 minute before they closed the door *phew* (would not recommend, we hella sped to the place - drive safe guys. Plan ahead). Once we entered the building, they asked us to take off our shoes, one by one - walk up the stairs to the Sound Bath room. There's this square looking thing in the middle of the room that's hella cool - if you stand on it and shout, the sound bounces right back atcha! Anyway ~ we picked a random spot and laid down. The staff gave us a quick rundown of the history behind this location/building/what we are about to experience. He played a few notes for us to listen to and the next thing I knew... I KNOCKED OUT HARD. BEST SLEEP OF MY LIFE. MY MIND, MY BODY, MY EVERYTHING WAS SO RELAXED I WAS LIKE FLOATING OR SOMETHING :O Price (3/5): We paid for 2 people. It took a little over an hour. This is probably one of those things I'll do once and never again - just to experience and say oh yeah I totes did this - since it's kinda pricey just to "nap". The abandoned homes amidst the homes on the hills makes for an interesting drive in the high desert; you almost feel like you're transported to a different place. Add the dirt roads, unique plants, and Yucca trees, and you might as well be in The Twilight Zone. I loved it! Walking into the Integratron, you feel at immense peace and relaxation. It was a hot day as usual around this time of the year, but there was water available and plenty of spaces under the shade to wait around before the sound bath. There's a sense of eeriness here, but my sister and I couldn't quite put our finger on it (something about being in the middle of the desert sharing a room with a group strangers). We shrugged it off and still had a good time. Now for the sound bath itself...the music is beautiful. I felt the sound travel literally throughout my entire body. There was AC so I was very grateful for that. The experience was wonderful, and the staff was very kind. So why 4 stars? I did have an issue with some of the other guests who were blatantly disrespectful to the gentleman playing the bowls and the other guests during the sound bath. I heard full on conversations and could see people practicing intricate yoga pose, even though the instructor stated we had to keep our backs parallel to the ground. The staff didn't do anything to address the issue. It was challenging to relax in such a quiet room when all these things were going on to the side. I just experienced my first trip to the Integratron, and it was amazing! If you are doing a little soul searching, or looking for an awakening experience the integratron should definitely be added to your To Do list. I've heard many things about this place prior to visiting, and I came with an open mind. The location in its own is a fun experience, before receiving your treatment you hangout in an awesome picturesque waiting area. Once your treatment time approaches you enter the dome and find a mat. The guide goes over the entire history and concept of the integratron, and then begins the sound bath. You leave the treatment feeling rested, grounded and awakened. My only advice would be to stay away from coffee before your treatment. We had an early appointment and I had a cold brew in the morning. I was excited for a spiritual, meditative experience. The guys running the show seem to think they were doing a comedy routine. Felt very "bro "like. That space itself is cool. I was interested about the alien element they brought in - requires some suspension of disbelief I guess. Their hammocks were so lovely and the outdoor seating was a nice touch. It's a great story for the history. It's best to reserve for your own small party of guests. People snore and it disrupts the setting. Not good follow up service on phone or email. Made several attempts to find out. I've tried to coordinate events but staff doesn't return calls. Great concept and interesting area. If service can motives it would be awesome . read more

I booked our sound bath months in advance, I don't know how quickly they book up? This was such an amazing experience. I'm very happy we did it. I went in with an open heart and had such a good time. We arrived early, checked in at the desk, then walked around and enjoyed the waiting area. Pure desert beauty. A ton of hammocks, places to sit, water fountain, walls to write with chalk on, 4 bathrooms. Like a mini resort. You'll experience sounds of the crystal bowls for about 15-20 minutes? Then to come back they play a CD of calming music. After we picked up some gifts in the shop, I took home a crystal that has been charged 20 times in the sound bath. It kind of spoke to me in the shop, shined a little more than others. What did I experience? Well it's hard to say. I heard different sounds moving from one ear to the next. I was transfixed unable to move, due to being so concentrated by the sounds. One point I was visualizing flying, which is crazy! After I felt very relaxed. My husband who is deaf in one ear, he could feel the sounds in his fingertips. It is going to be difference for everyone. Be open and have fun. read more
