Cute little spot on the trip back from Joshua tree. We came to pioneertown on a random weekday so it wasn't much of a surprise that it was a total ghost town. There were some cool, western style old buildings but not much to do overall. I could see it as a cool spot to do a photo shoot for a western vibe, but besides that I feel like a quick 15 min walkthrough was enough.

Ok (: Do you like history? Westerns? Movie sets? Good food? Ok- you will like this spot! It is historically and just in general a very cool place. We had a lot of fun looking around! I must say- however two stores had quite inappropriate language on merch items out in the open which was disappointing to see for children walking around them. As well as one store in particular called 'Soukie Modern Outpost' had HIGHLY inappropriate music playing quite loudly. (Literally shake dat ass by Eminem with all the words) mind you- there were SMALL kids walking out of the store when I came in (like probably 4-6 years old) so someone needs to talk that girl I would say and not allow that because... yea that's terrible.

Strava: casual stroll through Pioneertown (near Joshua Tree).

Idyllic cowbowy film scenery. Backdrops and props to remind you of the good ol' western movies. + Quiet, peaceful ambience, despite many guests coming and going. + Good amount of parking. Desert-like climate. - Not much you'd wanna buy here. Not much to this walkway, actually. Just nice for a quick nostalgic visit. - No reception (T-Mobile).

My husband, myself and our family went to Joshua Tree National Park and heard Pioneer Town is fun to visit. Since we were going to have lunch at Pappy's and Harriet's restaurant which is right there, we did both. The town looks like it was there in the mining days. With wooden buildings, and some shops, it was as fun to be sit. I wouldn't have driven out there just to see the town, but having lunch there it was Perfect.

This visit was special as both girls were able to come along with us! We ate at Pappy & Harriet's then walked around all the shops and took a gander at the various animals on display. Overall a pleasant afternoon spent.

DIAMONDS: Pioneertown has grown quite a bit since I last visited in 2018. I love that there are so many small businesses on Mane Street now and more amenities in the area like the bowling alley. I also appreciate that Mane Street is still pedestrian friendly, and visitors can comfortably explore the business corridor on foot. COAL: Unfortunately, Pioneertown is a lot more touristy now. A real downside of that is some tourists have absolutely no regard for desert etiquette: 1.) Leave no trace. 2.) Respect wildlife. 3.) Be mindful of others, which includes keeping noise to a minimum and being conscientious of sharing space with others. 4.) Always adequately prepare for desert conditions--heat, sand, dryness, wind, and drastic temperature changes--to remain safe. A prime example of this is when I walked to the end of Mane Street to see the post office, which is the most photographed post office in the United States according to the historical marker on site. Two car loads of tourists pulled up right as I arrived at the post office and started blasting Brazilian music as if they were at the Coachella Music Festival instead of Pioneertown. See desert etiquette tip #3 above. With that said, please go support the local businesses and restaurants in Pioneertown!

A true western town through a windy road in Joshua Tree. There are restaurants, shops, and a free shootout show on Saturdays at 1pm. They even have Sam the white goat Deputy Mayor hanging out with his cowboy hat.

Pioneertown.  The wind blows sand in the air like when a gunslinger rides into town.  This is the place I dreamed of as a child with my cap shooter holstered and in search of bad men to battle.  Sand crunches beneath my feet as I explore town.  There are all the shops you expect to find in an old western town.  The coffin maker would be especially busy...  The General Store sells postcards and the U.S. Post Office will postmark your mail Pioneertown so your loved ones will know you survived your journey to the past.  At one end of town is the O.K. Corral.  Scene of many a violent gun battle.  At the other end of town is Pappy and Harriet's my fav bbq in this part of the world.   I ventured into XeBA BOTaNICA following the lovely scents.  https://www.xebabotanica.com/about-us  They hand craft their products with organic plant-based materials.  I bought some Desert Palm as the scent reminded me of the desert after rainfall.  It healed up my dry hands right away.  The Film Museum has memorabilia from films shot in Pioneertown.  There is a Pioneertown Motel here in case you want to spend more time in the old west.   The town started as a live-in Old West motion-picture set, built in the 1940s. The set was designed to provide a place for the actors to live while using their homes in the movie.  A number of Westerns and early television shows were filmed in Pioneertown, including The Cisco Kid and Edgar Buchanan's Judge Roy Bean. I don't even really know what to say about Pioneertown other than that it is this, (I guess), one time great movie set that has become a very boring tourist attraction. How I actually initially found out about this place is due to the fact that I'm a filmmaker and we rented the space that is available for movie shoots over to one side of this area. For you filmmakers out there, the one very essential thing to keep in mind, however, and that is that Pioneertown is located right along the road, so if you hope to get any quality sound, forget about it. We were shooting a music video, so we weren't really concerned about sound. But, if you're thinking about renting the space and doing natural audio, you will run into some issues. So you filmmakers out there, keep that in mind. Yes, Pappy and Harriet's, one are the greatest music venues in all of Southern California, is located adjacent to Pioneertown. But, I won't talk about that now, Pioneertown, itself is just a long street with some old Western style buildings. End of story. For some, it may be an interesting place to check out. For me, not so much. That's the story. Make of it what you will.

Sound stage or wedding venue. Up to you.

If you're into old Hollywood and filmmaking, this place is worth checking out. If you only have a passing interest, you can pass. However - a mild interest in Hollywood and film + a desire to brag about throwing a few back in a "real" saloon or at a place that lives in the history books, this is the place for you. We took a trip, enjoyed the hour, and moved on. Everyone was awesome. Instagram pics were taken and bucket list was checked.

This is an amazing place just north 3.5 miles of hwy 62 in yucca valley! Spend about 1-2 hrs walking around and have lunch inside a historical building ! We had a great time

Day trip to joshua tree, this was our first stop to check out this piece of historical heritage. There's a few attractions with some stuff being closed till the evenings, but it was still a good way to spend around an hour or less leisurely checking out the buildings. There's no tour guides but honestly it doesn't have enough in terms of culture for the moment to need a tour guide to check out the small space, but maybe in the future if tourism picks up, it would be fun to learn more about the space and it's lineage.

Wow it's Like going back in time. Very rustic and good friendly people. Lots of naturally made stuff and modern too as far as amenities and necessities. Good fresh food at reasonable prices. Temperature isn't a huge factor because the elevation in the mountains is higher enough to drop the temperature to pleasant and warm vs hot down in town. Great excursion and experience for the whole family! Great to bring the kids, or the elderly everything is walkable and such a fun time for all!

This has been on our bucket list for years. Ever since seeing TV show host Anthony Bourdain visit,…read morewe've been fascinated by the Integratron and couldn't wait to experience a sound bath here. We finally went for my wife's birthday, so we came in really excited. First, the positives: the structure itself is incredible and the staff is genuinely kind. It's a family-run operation and you can feel that in a good way. But the actual experience? Rough. Within minutes of the sound bath starting, people were snoring. Not one person... a lot of people. Loudly. Full-on, out-cold snoring. The entire group of seniors next to us. Then the ladies on the other side of us. Add in constant fidgeting and movement, and it completely killed any chance of relaxing or getting immersed in the sound. It made it nearly impossible to relax or focus on the sound bath. The sound bath session itself felt surprisingly short, maybe 25 mins tops. It seemed like more time was spent waiting and going through instructions than actually experiencing the sound bath. The bowls were also not very loud, which made it even harder to tune out the distractions. In other sound baths we've attended, the instruments are more immersive, sometimes even amplified, which helps create a deeper experience. The final portion of the session transitioned into music played from an iPad, which felt a bit underwhelming and took away from the overall atmosphere. For the price (over $120 for two), it just didn't deliver. We left pretty disappointed after years of looking forward to it. Honestly, if you're someone who snores or can't stay still, this might not be the place for you because it really affects everyone else. And it would go a long way if staff actively managed that during the session. Cool place, great people, but not an experience we'd do again.

From La Quinta it's a good one hour + drive but definitely worth it! If your staying in Palm Springs proper or Joshua Tree much closer, regardless though worth it! Integratron essentially is a sound bath experience but in one of the coolest and best acoustic domes. I'll let the staff give you the history but it was very cool about learning how this place came to be and the intention behind it and land the dome sits on. This is a family owned business which makes it even more special. Three sisters own it and all of the family helps to run this space one way or another. On the day we came different cousins were sharing the duties. Love a local family run and operated space! Before starting the sound bath it's nice to explore the grounds, relax and they even have a gift shop. Nice bathrooms and plenty of parking. The system here is organized and seamless. Very great communication and guidance here. Make sure to pay attention to your emails before you come because they give great tips - like to bring blankets, dress in layers etc. As others have shared. The first 15-30 minutes is essentially going over rules, tips and history before they get started with the meditation/sound bath. I appreciate that they take everyone safety seriously and want everyone to have a joyful experience so they make sure to talk you through the do's and donts. The sound bath itself was relaxing and very soothing. The cushioned mats were premium and much nicer than I had remembered in the past. Very comfortable and nice temperature inside the dome. My only wish is that the sound bath piece was slightly longer but all in all it's a relaxing and unique experience. Would highly recommend that everyone come at least once.

One day, Kimberley decided to buy tickets to the event without knowing what Kimberley was about to get into .. As Kimberley arrived to the event, Kimberley could feel the energy and excitement in the air and the earth moving below her. Clueless Kimberley, having no idea what to expect and no experience with this type of music decided to enter the concert venue anyway, as the tickets were already purchased ahead of time. As the earth rumbled under foot as if the devil was banging on the underbelly of the earth's crust, the first band performed well and was so hardcore that her ears were about to bleed. She tried to position herself as far as possible from the stage and brace herself on a building so as to prepare the body to enjoy it, but it was just too much for her. She decided to stick around for a little while longer to see if the other bands would be any different. Unfortunately, they weren't. They were even more hardcore than the first band. Kimberley felt like she was in a warzone, and her body couldn't take it anymore. She looked around and noticed that everyone was wearing black and she was the only person that was wearing white. She took that as a sign .... She left the event after only 30 minutes. As she walked out of the venue, she couldn't help but laugh (and cry) at herself for not researching the type of music that would be played at the event before buying the tickets. She realized that she had made a mistake and learned a valuable lesson. From that day forward, Kimberley makes sure she watches a few youtubes about the events and the artists before purchasing tickets to any musical event or show. She certainly doesn't want to find herself in another situation like the Heavy Psych Fest at the High Desert Cultural Center and be the only person who didn't "get the memo" !

This place has been here forever. Cannot believe that I'm the first one to review it! Full…read moredisclosure: my wife's grandmother was a "patroness" of the theater when in started. Along with Copper Mountain College when it started, years ago. I should have reviewed it sooner, myself. Anyway...we have been to two performances. Both were top-notch and surprisingly well done! Surprising, because of the modest ticket prices. It is well attended and a lot if fun. Highly recommended by me. A little champagne before the shows start. Everything is right here! Reasonable, and close to home. Get out, get some tickets, and partake in what little culture there is out here in the beautiful desert. We are fortunate to have a gem like this and it deserves our support. Community support. Attendance, and $$, is what it takes to keep the lights on!!! And, you don't need to get out your theater attire. The dress is casual!
