Together, we share a planet, a space, and a breath of life. The purpose of this review is to celebrate you; that is, you are one of the most complex machines on the face of the planet. This is nothing to be prideful about, because as complex as our conscious self is, it is still subject to the moving of our seasons, the rotations of our planets, and the blinking of distant stars. Every day is one where we can be intentional in our movements through IT. Will we be Good? Will we do what is good for our self? I stopped by for a drop-in Heated Vinyasa class. It was very easy to sign up and pay for the class through their website. $16 for a drop in, which is reasonable and comparable to other yoga studios in the area. I have been to Intentional Yoga a few years for a Hot Yoga class, which I really didn't care for. It was way too hot for me and I felt miserable afterwards. But the Heated Vinyasa class is much more comfortable at around 80-81 degrees. The class was pretty full. The instructor was very good and the moves/positions were exactly what I was looking for. I've been practicing yoga for over 15 years. Be aware, this class is definitely not for beginners. Not that it is extremely hard, but you have to know the positions as the instructor is not showing you how to do them. She does walk around to make sure you are doing okay. And it is okay to take a break if you need too. The studio was cleaned after each class, which was very impressive. The front lobby where you wait, hangup your jacket, etc. is extremely crowded between classes, which made for some bumping into people, while you are trying to get your shoes on. I really liked this class and will definitely take it again. read more

Good classes. Nice heat circulation. The classes are motivating, and if needed breaks aren't shamed. Of the classes I have attended (all vinyasa) the flow was good. If in amazing shape harder classes might be needed, no time for inversions. Not sure if wall classes are offered. read more

Summary: WONDERFUL, but not easy for beginners Recommendation: Give it a try I was thrilled when a hot yoga place opened in the area. We needed one. If you've never done hot yoga before: - Don't underestimate how hot it is. Most people either lie down for a good portion of or leave (not recommended) their first session. - Don't forget water (which you can buy there but is expensive). - If you don't have a mat, you can rent one (but again, not cheaply). - Bring a towel. You will sweat. - Wear light, breathable clothing. I've found it to be most comfortable in a sports bra and shorts. (But if you don't feel like being that exposed, don't worry! There will be lots wearing tank tops or t-shirts.) Most men wear athletic shorts and either a normal t-shirt or no shirt at all. - Sarah is a wonderful instructor for beginners. She doesn't go too fast, and her explanations of the poses are clear and easy to follow. Review of the studio: You can do your first two weeks at $20. After that, you can either buy a package of classes or you can get an unlimited pass for a period of time (three months, six months, etc). I've found the latter to be beneficial because it forced me to go more often. Check their website for the class schedule. They always list times and instructors (and if classes are cancelled). They have a standard class and a vinyasa flow which is shorter and cooler but much faster and harder. It's a good idea to show up ten minutes before the class starts (more on your first day so you can fill out the paperwork). When you go in, you fill out your name on the class sign in sheet (unless it's your first day). There are cubbies and hooks for your belongings, and the studio is equipped with small bathrooms. The women's has one toilet, two showers, two sinks, and a place to hang up your clothes. Most people don't opt to shower there after class, so it's never a problem to nab a shower if you need one. If there's a class before you, you'll wait for them to finish and the instructors to clean the room (they clean the floors after every class) before going in and picking a spot. Most newer people are in the back row. They do basically the same routine every class which is good because it allows you to really work on your poses. You will only be pushed as hard as you push yourself. The first part is a warm up. That moves into stretches then standing poses (my favorite part of the class). The middle section are the flows which are to fun music the instructors pick themselves. These are fast, and you'll probably get lost your first couple of times. Because they do the same flows every class, you end up picking them up eventually. After the flows is floor work. You'll end the class in savasana (the totally relaxed pose). Even if you've done yoga before, you may need to take breaks because of the heat. No one will think less of you for it. There's very little one on one instruction--you'll have to listen to the directions and follow those around you and then try your best. The instructors will occasionally assist newer people, but I've never seen them fix someone's pose if the general concept is correct. This is the main reason I didn't give it five stars--it seems that without additional guidance, you won't be able to go as far in your practice. I've always left the class feeling refreshed and energized (even on bad days). You should check it out. read more

I am a former university asst. athletic director and personal trainer with a lifetime of fitness and coaching experience in many realms of health and fitness. With that having been said I was a true yoga novice when I first entered the Intentional Yoga studio 3 years ago. What I found was entirely new dimension of mind and body fitness that has since become ritual in my life. IY was the conduit to this. What I like about this place: It's clean. That's not an easy thing to say in a place where people crowd together at a humidified 105 degrees and pour sweat for 80 minutes. The facility is kept in impeccable condition including locker, bathroom and common areas. It's professional. Instructors are well trained and continuity is maintained. The instructors have a passion for their work and you hear it in their voices. They embrace newer students and bring out the best in those who have a more advanced practice. It's inspiring. With a strong background in resistance training and cardiovascular fitness I feel like a kid who has found a new toy. I can walk into IY jet lagged and worn and walk out feeling detoxified, invigorated, and refocused. I'm a big advocate of partaking in different dimensions of fitness but the yoga classes at International Yoga truly bring it all together for me. I try to save my 5 stars for the most special places and Intentional Yoga definitely reaches that mark. read more

I was nervous at first cause I usually stick to more cardio workouts but this was a great overall body workout and I left so energized. I've been going to Intentional Yoga for a few years now. I got my butt kicked the first time I went and even after going for a number of years still get a great work out. It's also great way to mentally check out and reset your mind. 1. Staff Rocks - if you new no worries they will help you 100% just stop in. 2. Nice Studio 3. The yoga instruction is the same every time you go to the class. The same poses are done each time. The room is nicely heated - 105 or thereabout. Intentional Yoga is an excellent studio with an incredibly friendly and accessible staff of qualified and compassionate yogis. The studio itself is incredibly clean as well. Unlike other studios, iY offers a variety of classes from Bikram-style, Vinyasa classes, and other more grounding and slower (less hot) classes. This studio is 'ok'. 1. hot yoga. all of it. some folks cannot tolerate hot yoga. you'll learn which you are very quickly. 2. difficulty level - it's all tough. there is no spotting for personal pacing, so you will be on your own figuring that out. 3. the clientele - um. er. there is no clothing policy, which there typically isn't at a yoga studio, but let me just put it this way: dude in a speedo! and lots of eye candy that the guys will enjoy. read more

When it comes to canceling your membership it's far from customer centric. You can only cancel your membership in person. So if you don't live close you get to go out of your way there just to stop it, and it doesn't stop there. They require a months notice which allows them to charge you even after you cancel. They should at least let you call into cancel or how about mail in a written form. read more

I would have to say I'm no expert at yoga but I've been coming to this studio for 3 years. If this were a rating just for the actual class I would give a 5 but be prepared to be disrespected by the regulars and treated unfairly if the class is full. After being one of the first to be turned down due to a full class I continued to wait to ask a question on my account. It was incredible how the staff allowed about 8 exceptions of more people to join this class by some lady just shouting at the resectionist" were going to make an exception" and were at this point now picking and choosing who was worthy of squeezing in while others are stoped at the door. If I could transfer what I've paid for at this point To another studio I would. Going to yoga is the most amazing feeling. The people working here have made quite the opposite... at least at the moment. Hopefully they get a new staff prepared to deal situations that are going to happen so they don't continue to disrespect their paying customers. read more
