I had a very disappointing experience with Interfaith Community Services at their 1820 S Escondido Blvd location. I reached out for help through their homeless prevention program during a really difficult time, but the level of professionalism and organization I encountered was deeply concerning. Communication was inconsistent, and it was nearly impossible to get clear, timely updates about my case. I often felt like I was being given vague or conflicting information and there seemed to be favoritism to one specific population. What stood out most was the overall lack of professionalism within the office. There appeared to be internal dynamics and distractions that interfered with the quality and reliability of services being provided. Such as office flirtations and it seemed obvious that these coworkers seemed to be in a "personal" relationship. As a client seeking support, it was frustrating to feel like my situation wasn't being treated with the seriousness it deserved. Programs like this are meant to support people in vulnerable situations, but my experience felt disorganized, impersonal, and dismissive. I hope the organization takes a closer look at how their office is being run and makes improvements to ensure clients receive the consistent, respectful support they need. read more

I came here to drop off canned goods and there were employees immediately upon entering. You could tell they are doing good work because there were clients/customers outside. I have been trying to get rent assistance for a homeless disabled veteran . I was told by 211 that interfaith is the place to go. I have tried to get someone to help for over three weeks now. So far, no call , no help nothing. I see that Interfaith is always hiring on indeed. Apparently they either hire incompetent people Or They aren't really hiring and are only taking county and state money to line their pockets. In a week I'm turning them into the county, the governor and the attorney general. It's organizations like this that create the problem of homelessness. I'm disgusted. read more

This review is not regarding the Interfaith team on the ground so to speak. They are kind, helpful and respectful. Many great programs designed for the critical need. The one star is about upper management. The only way I can get attention for this problem. Is through yelp. I'm TOTAL Mediation. I've reached out to the Housing Director initials are PM absolutely no response. I came back from the bay area to enter C1 into the recuperative care program at Interfaith. JR denied access to recuperative care, which forced doctors to cancel C1 surgery for a knee replacement. JR denied for not having Medi-Cal. This is untrue, the program takes 4 insurances. She lied. Denied by this individual JR who not only didn't have the authority to make a decision, but did not take an application (required). I have no choice, but to make this for C1 a legal issue because of the lack of resolution or concern about repercussions. Eventually found somebody who did the application, it came back, not denied but there is no room. Do we believe there's no room? There are serious problems with upper management. My view is there is a high level of incompetence, laziness, and outright, not interested in doing the job just picking up the paycheck. On the news yesterday, I was elated to hear that US Attorney General is taking on nonprofits regarding costs associated with homelessness in California. Starting with nonprofits who take funding 24 BILLION, that didn't go to the intended individuals (Homeless). Nonprofits are ineffective causing more harm and unnecessary stress. Many agencies don't call back or answer phones. In the case of the County or Jewish Family Services . In CA, more people experience homelessness than any other state. Incompetence is a chronic disease plagued amongst nonprofits. Funding flows, ask and they receive. But solutions require competent, caring staff who will push the envelop, working outside the box, for each and every homeless. No limits! I went to interfaith to do my taxes for the third or so years in a row.I get a different person every time which sucks but whatever it's free!! This year I had Steve, I was super confused on my tax write offs because the years past have been very squirrelly because of different things and amounts I made. Steve was very patient with me through all the confusion and not having my ducks in a row.I feel he went above and beyond to make my experience the best it could be. I was at an all-time low in my life. I had been homeless living outside in tents and sleeping bags for over thirteen years. On hard drugs because that's what you end up doing when you have nothing and no one, no family,etc. I remember sitting at a mcdonald's one day, I was sick and it was a cold winter. That was last year. A good person whom I had known for several years noticed how bad I was looking. He handed me a white page with all the shelters in San Diego. On that page I noticed a place in Escondido listed and I called the number. They didn't respond to me at first, but after being persistent in leaving messages they finally called me back. I was let Into interfaith and the haven house the next day. Surgio, my rep immediately started to help me understand what I needed to do to get my life back. It's a long story. I stade at the interfaith services haven house for six months. It didn't happen right away but, I kept looking for work and eventually found a good job with a promising future. I use to hire workers through interfaith for a couple of years now and had no problem. Now when the they find a worker to work for $15.00 hr with no trade, they either show up and take lots of brakes or most of the time the workers NEVER SHOW UP. Interfaith needs to put restrictions on the workers that lack or don't show up for work. I am a home owner that is disabled that needs work done around the house. To all that read this, if you want your work done DON'T GO THROUGH INTERFAITH NO MORE 2ND CHANCES they send you guys that have drug problems and mental health issues. I have had tools stolen so if you hire through interfaith I advise you to watch them. I will now be going through HomeDepo to hire workers that are at least willing to work. read more

Interfaith is a great asset to this community, he provides tools and advice to those trying to make something better for themselves. I am grateful for where my life is at because of Interfaith. Interfaith has helped me and my family so much. We entered in the Genesis Program, it gave us tools so we can find jobs, go back to school, and Learn a lot of life lessons with a little cushion to spare. We basically learned how to grow up, and do better for our children with the guidance from Interfaith. We haven't been in the genesis program for 5 years, but I know if we are stuck in predicament that we can't figure out we can always call for guidance from the staff of this program. Interfaith really does help the community, they help you see life isn't going to always be easy, but if you really want a better life they give you the tools to do so. read more

This is the home of the Interfaith based Escondido Food Bank. They distribute food free with a picture ID. BUT only Monday thru Friday from 8-10 am so get here early. No activity on the first Friday of every month. Some of the workers are volunteers, some work for money but everyone treats you with dignity and respect. There is also a homeless shelter on the premises and a veterans assistant center. You have to admire people who give their time and effort to help others who aren't so fortunate. One thing that baffles me: If you use their services, you cannot be either a paid worker or a volunteer. I can understand the former but being denied volunteering? Go figure. read more

Interfaith is awesome!! This organization is completely non-profit. Their services help the homeless, veterans, people with psych disorders and also drug addiction. There is a food pantry, winter shelter, sober living, transitional housing and varied vocational and counseling services. Some of the employees are paid, but there are many many workers who volunteer their time selflessly with great caring and love. They are only there to help others and do not get paid one cent for their time. Interfaith also helps with showers, laundry, sack lunches, hot meals in their cafeteria, etc. If anyone you know needs any of these services in or around Escondido, I suggest you give them a call. II was in in residential treatment program ( rehab) for one month, the program is supposed to be 90 days. At first I thought it was great, the staff seem to care and want to help ( except the program manager Vanessa who is a mean salty bitch). It is co ed and the staff do nothing to make you feel safe. There was a MALE resident who creeped all the girls out. He would say and do inappropriate things without any punishment. In the detox part they allowed crazies who talked to their self and constantly stole are coffee and hot chocolate. The food was beyond nasty, it was like jail food. The program is a joke!! I can say, without a doubt, that Interfaith helps "thousands" of people. They distribute food daily, cook and serve meals for the year round shelter, they run numerous programs for people with addictions or in recovery. This just scratches the surface of all the tremendous work they do. With the help of dedicated employees, charitable groups and hundreds of volunteers they make the world a slightly better place one person at a time. There great when you first go for homeless with kids and they do help you get into a interfaith apartment with an emergency hud voucher that is only good for 24 months. Experience ever if you are a disabled person with balance problems or in a weelchair and you need 15 minutes to shower and dress dont go there after 5 minutes they start banging. On the. Door telling you to get out. And are really rude about it if it happened in another place someone. Would call. The. Police. I live next to Interfaith's transitional housing facility in Oceanside. Over the course of four years I've come to realize this is exactly why people don't want similar facilities in their neighborhoods. Many of the residents have no consideration for the people living nearby, people who actually work and pay for their homes. Over the course of four years I've repeatedly contacted a variety of Interfaith personnel regarding the residents blocking my driveway with their cars, threatening to kill my dog, being aggressive with me when I ask them to move cars blocking my driveway and/or the entire alley (they seem to think it's a parking lot even though there are no parking signs posted from end to end), and even asking me if they can hang out in my yard when I'm not home, but Interfaith refuses to take responsibility for the people they place in the facility. Police presence is commonplace, whether it's a probation/parole check on someone living in the facility or yet another fight among the residents. Guess what, Interfaith, you /are/ in fact responsible for the people you choose to place in your housing units, and when you fail to enforce policies that protect those of us living nearby you give ammunition to the NIMBYs who welcome any reason to protest transitional or low-income housing in residential areas. read more

When I lived at the division property, MK13 wantabe's had knife fights outside my unit, and cars were always parked behind my garage unit due to the mobile retail stores on the street. I am not here to be negative and want to thank the neighbors for their friendship and culture. Interfaith Community Services has a work program that provides customized janitorial services for businesses. It's called Clearly Clean and I've used them at my business for several years. Their prices are very fair and they do an excellent job. The employees are friendly and much more dependable than other cleaning services I've tried in the past. In addition to a weekly cleaning schedule, I've also used them for carpet cleaning. If you need a cleaning service, I suggest you give Clearly Clean a try. read more

had a terrible experience. i was homeless, staying at a temporary shelter which sent me to the case worker for interfaith. she told me she could help me find transitional housing and i needed to get paperwork from the VA. i went to the VA clinic in san diego to get the file sent to interfaith, Marci tells the caseworker at the shelter she wont help me because i "refused services" and "wasn't taking my medication" i have NEVER been diagnosed with any health issues and NEVER prescribed medication, i didn't refuse services so told her she had me confused with someone else. she said she would check the the VA record and call me back to help get services from interfaith. 4 months later, havent heard from interfaith and was still homeless. i contacted marci who told me she didn't verify my VA paperwork, but that a council had decided they weren't going to help me. the "not taking medication and refusing services" story was a lie! she straight up lied to me and ignored my contact. why? she told me they decided they didn't want to help me. i don't know why. i just called her to ask her why she was treating me like this and she said i could file a grievance and she wasn't going to talk to me anymore. i did nothing wrong. i have no idea what their problem is, why they are intentionally deceiving and ignoring people who need help, who they get funding to help. before going to interfaith in escondido, i went to interfaith in oceanside, his name was Tanu the representative and the case worker there said he could do nothing to help, he just sat in his chair, said "its not my fault you're homeless" did nothing to help me find a shelter, get food. he sat there, waiting for me to leave his empty office on mission avenue that wasn't helping anybody that one is called Veterans Association of North County interfaith is the worst organization i've seen read more
