They give a hand up not a handout to people in need. They're run with private monies not government money. The people that go there must be clean and sober, participate & all the programs and classes. When they're ready to leave there they are prepared for life. They grow their own foods. If you're donating to this organization because you believe you're supporting trained professionals helping families rebuild their lives, you should take a very close look at how things actually operate here. The public messaging is polished: structured routines, trauma-informed care, professional oversight, and a stable environment for parents and their children. But the internal reality is the opposite -- and it raises serious ethical and safety concerns that donors would never sign off on if they saw them firsthand. A huge portion of the "leadership" enforcing rules and issuing consequences aren't professionals at all. They are individuals fresh out of treatment, moved into authority positions with no credentials, no training, no background in family services, and no experience managing vulnerable populations. Yet they're the ones threatening residents with termination and making decisions that determine whether a parent keeps or loses stability for their child. This isn't trauma-informed care. It's a revolving hierarchy built on fear, inconsistency, and unchecked power. When people who finished their own recovery programming only weeks prior are suddenly responsible for supervising parents, enforcing consequences, and deciding who stays or goes, it stops being a support program and starts looking like an unstable, unregulated experiment. And families -- especially children -- are the ones paying the price for that instability. Add to that: * rules that change depending on who's on shift * decisions made with no transparency or documentation * residents routinely threatened with housing loss over minor or unclear issues * supervisors who contradict one another because no one receives standardized training * and a culture where the program's image matters more than its outcomes ...and the whole "transformational" narrative starts to unravel quickly. The level of hypocrisy is impossible to miss. The organization demands stability, consistency, and accountability from families while providing none of those things in return. Donors are told they're funding professional support. What they're actually funding is a system where unqualified individuals -- still working through their own recovery -- are given authority over families who need real expertise, real guidance, and real safety. If you're a donor, you should ask: * Who is actually trained here? * Who is supervising families? * What qualifications do these "leaders" have? * How are families being treated? * And where is the accountability for the power being handed out? The image being sold to the public is not the experience families are living inside the program. I was told that they have a reputation of being rude, demanding, and controlling. Make you feel as though you dare not speak your piece of mind. Run like a German prison camp. Seems like they set your expectations higher than the actual offering. It is a non-profit. I suggest someone look at the books. I have heard that the founders take large salaries from the budget. Near or above $1 million/year for a husband & wife. I also heard that they have been criticized for packing a city council development planning meeting with employees and residents in order to take up the seats of any opposition wanting to be heard that day. read more

This non profit organization needs to be investigated by a news team! A friend of mine has an apartment unit severely impacted by mold. You would think that addressing toxic mold would be an urgent matter but she and her children are still unable to go back to their unit after 2 1/2 months. The agency's management has been non-responsive and blowing her off each time she is attempting to get an update. When given a possible re-entry date it comes and goes without an apology or reason. It's time to find out who oversees this organization and help this single mother get back in her rental unit. read more

They are missing a very important part of a rehabilitation community, a good manager. If you expect to get people with no baggage then close your doors. If you expect your job to be easy then you Kelly are in the wrong job. Perfect does not walk into a place like yours. People that come there need support and sometimes patience. What I have found from Solutions is that they mean well but do not have the best people running things there. The people that come to solutions are damaged in some way. They need patience and some need counseling. People with no patience and so judgemental are a negative force to what the owners mission is. It is why I have found that some leaders in this area will not support you. The idea is great but the prejudgement by some in charge is not. My 2 cents read more

My fiance and I came to Solutions For Change 3 years ago with our 2 beautiful children. We had nothing but a few bags of clothes and toys. We were given tools and resources to get our lives on track and be employable. We were loved and supported and given time to grow and succeed. We are now in permanent housing. My fiance works for Cox Communications and I am in school. I have had some health issues and have had to have 2 surgeries and have had an entire community that I am proud to call family support me through my toughest moments. Our children are so happy and have a stable life. They know where they will sleep and that they will have their next meal! Things that some people take foregranted but are a real problem for others. We are forever grateful to this amazing program and the wonderful staff for the opportunity they have given us! You never know what you can accomplish until you have people who believe in you and support you and give you guidance in the right direction instead of looking at you like you are a failure at life and waste of time! It feels so good to be cared about by so many people and we are now able to pay that love and support forward! read more

I can't say enough positive things about Solutions for Change. After leaving an unsafe marriage and losing savings to illness, I found myself without a home and with two tiny children. I thought I could make it on my own and found disappointment and failure again and again. Eight months later, I entered Solutions. They systematically build our confidence and help us transform old unhealthy patterns into new healthy ones. Day in and out, we get the tools needed to reach where we want to go in life. Very soon, me and my kiddos will be safe in our own apartment. I am building savings.... I will be getting a consistent job (and have a safe place of our own to stay WHILE looking)... and before I know it, will move on with a bigger support network than I've ever had before.
