Our group had a very frustrating experience at this golf course. For the first two holes, there was…read morea light drizzle, but the rain became a deluge and we were all drenched by the end of the first nine holes. We checked and the prior weather forecast had changed and heavy rain was expected for the remainder of the day. The manager refused to issue our group rain checks for the additional nine holes that we couldn't play. Another nearby course (Mistwood) closed for the day (Yes, I checked). We didn't understand or agree with their policy of not issuing rain checks. Some of the group vowed to never play there again. As for me, I won't even consider playing there if there is any chance of rain, whatsoever. Not a friendly course in that regard.

Like most nice golf courses they just want to make as much money as possible. Our tee time was at :10. By :12 there was a group standing behind us. To me if you get there early the starter should hold you back so your not right on some one. Not many people like to play with a crowd watching them or people standing there talking. Sign said cart girl was working that day but we never saw one.

Some traps have weed farms that look gross. It's got to get away from looking worse than a small town muni course. A positive note is that the food we had was excellent and good bar service. With all the course choices in Manistee, Beulah, and Traverse City, it's getting hard to put up with the lack of change. In its prime, this was a stellar championship caliber course. Used to have pay one price and play all day which we did in the early days.
