I went to the Orem Community Hospital Emergency Room yesterday morning at the request of my dentist…read morebecause I have a severely infected tooth, a visibly huge and swollen cheek, and so much pain, OTC meds weren't touching it so I was forced to take my back pain meds (which still didn't take the pain away,) as well as a fever of 103.4 earlier in the morning. My dentist thought I should go to the ER for IV antibiotics for fear that my tooth infection had turned into something much more serious because the antibiotics he gave me weren't working. The admitting person was a sweetheart as was the male nurse; both compassionate, empathetic, and kind. The doctor came in and made me feel foolish and idiotic for going to the ER for 'simple' tooth pain, actually pulling faces at the mention of a dentist sending someone to the ER, and rolling her eyes. THEN, when she seemingly, finally decided to figure out exactly what was going on, she sat down in front of me and said, "Hon, tell me what is going on. How did this happen?" All I could think was, are you serious?? I mean look at my ginormous, pink cheek, lady!! She talked to me as if I were a child and was extremely condescending. I just felt stupid and wanted to leave and go to a different ER but I had an IV at that point (for blood tests, mind you, not antibiotics). Then she sent me in for CT scans of my face to make certain that the infection hadn't spread anywhere dangerous, finally taking my issue seriously. She didn't give me the IV antibiotics for the severe infection, she simply 'upped' my antibiotic (from the one the dentist gave me) to a stronger one. How hard would it have been to simply give me even just a injection of stronger antibiotics?? Or better still, through the IV that was already in my arm?!? Then, she numbed my tooth to take away some of the pain, which it did, for about 30 minutes when the pain came back with a vengeance. I feel like the doctor didn't like being told what to do from a measly dentist, or God forbid, me, and didn't do the antibiotics out of sheer stubbornness and pride. No, I did not go to medical school, I am not a doctor and will not pretend to know how to heal someone in the way a doctor can. I do know my body and knew something was wrong. I also know empathy, which this doctor didn't seem to posses, nor, really, did the female nurse who just acted like it was an inconvenience for me to be there. I went to this ER with the hopes of having some relief from my pain and severe infection. I left feeling stupid for going in the first place. There was no empathy, compassion, or even patience from this doctor. I know there are other doctors working at the Orem Community Hospital's ER, some with likely more empathy than was shown me, but I will *never* chance that again. I will drive the extra several miles to AF Hospital's ER where they are kind, respectful, and even humble enough to listen.

They didn't ask after either. I got a statement in the mail with a paystub and a return envelope. I made a payment(what I could). I am on social security with no other income. The next month I got another statement, made the same payment, did this for 4 months then SLAM. They SLAMMED me into collections for the rest. No notice to call, no call, nothing said letting me know the payments I made were not good enough or that I needed to call, nothing just SLAM me into collections, granted my fico score is in the toilet anyway and I don't care because I pay cash for everything. I will never use this facility for anything ever again.

My mother had been detoxing and she has heart failure and kidney failure. I was extremely concerned with her being in hospice rather than getting the correct medical treatment. No one would listen to me. My mother has survived being put on hospice now four time. A security guard with the name Eric demanded that I delete the pictures and audio recordings of my mother health care or be barred for 24 hours. I said, No! I'm deleting anything from my phone. i asked to file a complaint with Sheila, my mothers patient advocate. Sheila demanded that I must delete the recording and pictures as well. I said no! Three days had passed so i was in the hospital and Juan the security guard pulled me from my dying mothers room and demanded that I was criminally trespassing and I not be on the property for 365 days now. I was escorted from the property like I was a criminal. The entire time my mother was in the hospital she was not getting the right care, I was forced from the hospital by security guards that my mother was in. Juan, Sheila and Eric destroyed what could have been something special to be able to spend the last days with my dying mother. Instead our family will always have the memory of Juan, Eric and Sheila enforcing a policy the hospital does not have just to prove their authority over common citizens such as myself. Dutung the two week period I begged over and over please show me this policy that says an individual can be criminally trespass from the property for not deleting a picture. Sheila explained to me that all policy are internal and can be given to anyone. How can a hospital security team enforce a policy that is not shared publicly due to internal policy? Hie many policies have been violated while enforcing a policy that can not be shared publicly?

I was told they had checked on my insurance and I hadn't met my deductible so I was responsible for the full amount. I contacted the hospital and they said the original quote was only an estimate and the procedure cost was actually more than double what I was quoted. After disputing it with a manager (Matt) I still ended up paying a substantial amount more. Very unfair practice in my opinion. I would not have had the scan done had the cost been accurately quoted to me originally.

Although there are some really good individual people there, I would stay away because of Dr…read more Anderson and Hadley, the speech therapist. They combined to deny my father of food and drink, even though barium swallow tests showed him to be okay for thickened liquids, and abused the patient because the family advocated for the patient's right to have thickened liquids under family supervision. The abuse took the form of denying food and water, even to sooth his sore throat for many days. Background: My father has been a slow eater since his stroke, and the family has been trained to help him and cope. He has struggled to maintain his weight. After a hip operation, he was given an NG food tube to give sufficient nutrition to heal well -- then went to UVSH for rehab. Given a barium swallow test, he was originally cleared for mechanically softened food (few teeth), and the family helped him with his meals. One morning, we couldn't get there early enough to help when breakfast was given. Dad was groggy from the pain and sleep meds. A nurse brought in food, gave him a bite, and said "You work on that and I will be back in a few minutes." When they came back, Dad had fallen asleep without swallowing the food. They then declared that he was to receive nothing by mouth (NPO). We as a family protested, saying that we would sign a release to allow the family to give him soft foods when we were there to supervise. They refused in the most forceful way, and took out their angst on the patient. His mouth became very dry (had to stay reclined on his back because of the feeding tube and slept with mouth open), but they wouldn't allow a piece of ice or a swallow of applesauce. Dr Anderson runs the place like he is GOD, and wouldn't allow anything by mouth even after another barium swallow test that showed no problem with thickened liquids. The day after he was transferred to a new facility, we signed a waiver and now Dad is able to have soft food to soothe his sore throat.

But if it wasn't for that I would leave 0 starts because of the Way my wife was treated by the administrator Ruben Jessep, Codi Fitzwater and a night Administrator. It was disgusting and uncalled for. When someone's spouse, mother or father tells you that their loved one is not in the right mind to make dicission they are right and you should listen, not try to tell them that they are wrong and you know better because you talked to them for a few minutes or for few days (at the most an hour) (Codi) and make money. There is so much more I could say about how awful you were to my wife. Yes there were good nurses and therapist but if you want a place that is going to treat your spouse, mother, father or caretaker that has been taking care of you for free because they love and know you, this is not it. I did not ask or want my wife to get kicked ou like you did, I did not want her to not get important information about me or any of the other crap you did and caused. If I didn't have a strong marriage you could have ruined it by lying to a very sick man and worse what you did to my wife. This hospital is not for people that have longterm caretakers for years because they will just get thrown aside, lied to and worse. You people I mentioned and the night administration should be ashamed of yourselves. And yes I've read my wife's review and correspondents with codi where she lied more. Again 0 starts except for some nurses and therapists. You could have very easily ruined a 10 year marriage over your lies and caused problems with my Gas, pipes and plumbing if it wasn't for my amazing wife and in your words it wasn't your problem

When you drive up, all you notice is overgrowth and weeds in every green space. Despicable! If the appearance doesn't bother you the registration process certainly will. I came in due to a workman's comp injury I sustained while working at Steward Jordan Valley West. I asked the registration clerk if they have access to those records they used to be Steward. She abruptly interrupted me and said that they were bought out and that Centura/Trinity does not have access. I replied that I have the information and will provide it. Just to understand and confirm what I heard her say, I asked differently about the records by saying, "....just to confirm, you're saying you don't have access?" The receptionist cut me off stating, ".....I TOLD YOU we don't have access!" Needless to say, I was taken aback. I asked her if she was having a bad day. She replied "Why!?" I said you're being quite abrupt. She replied, "Are you calling me a brat?" I said, "no, I'm saying you're being abrupt." She attempted to explain and I replied, "....it's not necessary." These two "first impressions" reflect the dismal experience I received and seem to indicate the level of professionalism and treatment the new ownership has and delivers. I am a firm believer in Attitude reflects Leadership. It is extremely sad to see that our community has to rely and reside next to and on a provider that should exemplify the essence of community and empathy when individuals who are dealing with emergencies or critical illness require medical attention and CARE! Drive in and see a run down, weed infested property and then get insulted by, "I TOLD YOU.....!" How dare you and shame on you're evident lack of respect to our community.
