I have been a happy patient of Dr Proctor since 2004. The level of care I've received from the PA's, from Doctor Proctor, and his staff has always been exemplary. Courteous, indeed, friendly, and always professional with their diagnosis and treatment. I moved away from McKinney in 2007, but have continued to return to McKinney Family Medicine because of high level of care I've always received there. Dr. Procter, and his team are a must-have in my healthcare toolbox. We have been with him since March 2020, and wouldn't choose anyone else. We have since moved two hours from the metroplex, but we will be keeping Dr. Procter as our medical advisor. This group is easy to reach, and easy to talk with. What a kick in the face from this place. My family has been going there for about 20 years. All of a sudden they decided to start charging $300 per person admin fee and they are going to stop taking insurance. They will provide a list of fees and charges and you will have to file your own insurance. Plus they will be out of network. My wife is due for her maintenance thyroid medication and hormone pellets. They won't see her unless she pays the $300 admin ransom. We have informed them we are no longer their customers. We are left to scramble to find another provider though. I strongly recommend not to consider this doctor office for your needs. read more

I just want to share that it is rare to find providers and staff to go above and beyond the care they give their patients! I recently returned to the clinic after learning they would not be taking or filing insurance claims Including Medicare. I went to find a new provider and after the first visit I was in tears. I didn't like the interaction, I had labs done and although I had seen them, the nurse told me the labs were great.... not true! I decided to return to McKinney family medicine to see PA Vanessa. I do not regret my decision and prefer to work with medical staff that truly cares for their patients and am very happy! read more

I can not stand how they run their front office. They do not answer the phones. You just leave a message for every concern. I made an appt, and was too sick to come on the day of, so I called to cancel. Their main voicemail was full, so I left a voicemail in another place. Today I received a bill for no show. They also have poor appointment availability even for established patients. read more

They never answer calls. You leave a message and someone will return your call 1-2 days later. You will most likely not get to be seen by the doctor as he has established patients. You will end up being seen by a PA. They appear to be very busy and don't have much time to spend with you. If you call back after the visit and want to talk to the PA they will not speak to you unless you schedule an appointment. read more

I have just received a letter stating this place wants an annual fee to be seen. That is absolutely ridiculous to charge your patients an annual fee, I don't care what the purpose is. I have been going to this location for a few years now with my family. I'm absolutely in love with Cortney Hanson...she is about the only amazing person there. I will miss her terribly, because I plan on finding a new doctor. I do not recommend this place to anyone. They are horrible at answering the phone. If you have an appointment it doesn't matter, you will have to wait sometimes up to an hour or more. read more

This Dr. Has done more for me and my wife than any other Dr. I have had over the years. My wife is still alive and well because of her willingness to listen and go the extra step to assure we stay in great heath. I know that they have made recent changes to the way they do business now. I know it seems hard to swallow financially, but I am telling you that it is so well worth it. They are able to spend more time with me, going over all that I need to talk about. I wanted to love this practice so much. I will be forever grateful to them for their covid treatment and the brave stance Dr. Procter has taken on behalf of his patients - even bringing in the renowned Dr. McCullough to practice here in McKinney. And the physician assistants on staff are lovely to work with. However, the running of this office was absolutely awful. The very first appointment I made for my husband, he arrived only to be told there was no appointment made for him (so not a mistake in scheduling - they just didn't make the appointment I called to make). Another time he arrived on time and waited well over an hour before being told by the front desk they just didn't know when the doctor would get to him (so my husband had to leave). Nobody ever answered the phone in person, and getting a callback was like pulling teeth. I gave up and we switched to another doctor, who happened to be "direct primary care." Just a few weeks after this, I received a notification from Dr. Procter that he too was switching from a regular doctor's office (that billed insurance) to Direct Primary Care, which is a much more patient-centered model. They promised that their customer service would be much better under this new model, and since our experience with the first Direct Primary Care doctor was stellar, I was excited to switch back to Dr. Procter, which we did. We were told that Dr. Procter himself would be visiting with all patients during their visits but the PAs would handle most of the appointments. Fine. We had a couple of appointments and the doctor is never to be seen. He's either "out that day" or - I don't know. I had specifically asked for one appointment that we get to see him, only to be told during the appointment that he was out all week. (Thanks for telling me when I scheduled it.) But the worst, again, is the running of the office. It has not improved at all. You still can't get a human to answer the phone. We were supposed to be billed $100/month for the Direct Primary Care but one month we got billed $600 instead. Phone calls to the office to try to resolve this took many days to answer. I had to dispute the charge on my credit card bill because they took so long to respond. This month the last straw. The charges suddenly were $150 - with absolutely no notification from them whatsoever. I called the billing department and left a message (of course no one answered) asking them to clarify - no response, despite numerous voice mails left in the following days. Finally I got a voice mail back from them which said they aren't answering their billing line these days, because they "don't have their billing company any more" and the best way to reach them is to call the scheduling number. Okay first why don't you put that on the billing line recording, which currently states that they'll get back to you ASAP? And secondly the scheduling line does not answer either! The voicemail they left me also suggested I email them, which I finally did, five days ago, requesting they cancel us as patients completely and email back confirming they had done so. NO ANSWER. NO CALL. NO EMAIL. Today I sent another email asking if I had to physically come into the office to get this straightened out, and then someone responded and said they'd taken care of it. And by the way - we never, ever even SAW Dr. Procter. So very disappointed in how this business is run. read more

Received a letter in the mail about an annual fee for myself and family. $150 fee uncovered by my insurance, to be applied at next visit. I've never once met Dr. Proctor only a previous p.a. Who unfortunately no longer works at the office. She's still on the website though. Before the letter in the mail, I had requested to schedule an appointment back in May and have yet to hear anything back. Why would I pay extra for this type of service? My family and I will go elsewhere along with my immediate family members who are also disappointed in their care at this facility. Somewhere they don't try to up sell you with testosterone pellets (which ended up messing with my condition), receptionists that answer the phone or return voicemails, and seeing an actual Dr. and not their P.A. What a sellout. By the way, maybe with all your newly found scum money, update your website with the proper current employees. read more

Best experiences with a healthcare provider! My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Procter and McKinney Family Medicine for over 5 years and we have always received wonderful care! Dr. Procter has a very direct, no nonsense approach which my husband and I really appreciate. He also is the first doctor that was able to get my husband's blood pressure under control and provide me with different treatment options making an anti-depressant no longer necessary. We are very impressed by his PAs as well, and feel we get excellent treatment from everyone. His entire staff is amazing! This office recently implemented new ways to access Dr. Procter and his team and I CANNOT say enough good things about these new changes! They now provide their patients with a number you can text questions to during business hours regarding refills, medical questions, request for appts, etc. I receive responses within the hour! Also, they have provided an email address for patients to use to contact them. When my adult son developed a heart condition after a recent vaccine, I emailed Dr. Procter, and he responded right away and he got him right in. Dr. Procter has been treating him aggressively and I know my son is receiving the best care possible. He is also consulting with my son's cardiologist and a world renown expert for vaccine injuries regarding my son's treatment. I know Dr. Procter is up-to-date on the medical literature, tracking studies and communicating with his colleagues to stay abreast of recent developments to best treat his patients. Also, I will text or email this practice and frequently Dr. Procter himself will either call me or text me back. Dr. Procter will even reach out by text to check on my son and follow-up on medication changes. I have always been a big fan of him and his practice, but now access to him and his team is even better! I have been so pleased! read more

Dr. Procter is an independent-minded physician. His decisions are made for his patient's health and well-being without coercion by medical herd-mentalities. This doctor considers you. He doesn't let insurance company contracts interfere with the patient-physician relationship. I understand his format has changed, as I was with him before the change. I find this new concierge style of paying to be fair. It benefits me as an individual, because now he can make decisions that are best for me, not an insurance company. I highly recommend him, but prepare to be shocked; you will be separated from the herd--treated as an individual, not as a sheep or cow. read more

I moved to McKinney from Los Angeles. I tested positive for COVID in mid-February and wasn't recovering. My son suggested I see Dr. Proctor at McKinney Family Medicine. I was brought in immediately and seen by Dr. Proctor and Vanessa who made a rapid diagnosis that I was suffering from 'Long COVID'. I have never received such wonderful treatment in a medical office! I was made to feel as though I mattered. The entire staff at McKinney Family Medicine are fabulous. Everyone there made me feel welcome and took great care of me. It usually takes twenty or more calls to get through to them to make an appointment. Leaving voicemail for a call back is not practical for most people. If by luck you do reach someone they will give an appointment time that means nothing. Because they always run late. Usually at least a half hour late. More than an hour is not uncommon. Erika and Vanessa are very competent PAs and have my full respect. On the odd chance I actually get to see Dr Procter I have the same high regard for him as a physician. But the poorly managed office and the lack of respect for their customers time has become inexcusable. I've been coming here for about 15 years but I'm tired of them wasting my time. My allergist and cardiologists both have very well run businesses. I wish MFM would improve their business and have more respect for the time of their clients. read more

I literally cannot say enough good things about Dr. Procter and his colleagues. I've been a patient since I was a kid and they have always given me the best care. They discovered my hypothyroidism, got me off of awful medications my old psychiatrist had put me on, treated my severe ADD which completely changed my life and made sure that I have always been able to keep my Emotional Support Animal which treats my anxiety better than my old medication ever could. My husband and myself see Dr. Proctor and his staff at Mckinney Family Medicine for all our healthcare needs. When my oldest son was 12 and decided when a little girl wearing Minnie Mouse ears walked into our Pediatrician's office, he no longer wanted a baby doctor and only wanted "Doc Proc" to see him! Lol). That was in 2001 and we've all been extremely happy with the care we received from Dr Proctor and his staff. Without hesitation, they are our go-to place for everything from flu symptoms to hormone replacement therapy! Some doctors' offices are good for awhile then with frequent staff turnovers, increased costs, etc., things just seem to change and their quality goes down. That's never been the case at MFM. Although I never doubted the care at MFM, I was recently concerned when Dr Proctor was forced to stop taking our insurance. I should have known that he'd keep costs low and quality of care would stay high. For example, I needed an EKG for an upcoming surgery requirement. Without being in-network with our insurance I was concerned what a costly test would cost us at MFM. But no worries, Dr Proctor's out-of-network patient cost was only $20! (which was the fee they received from the insurance companies when they were in-network), so that's all MFM charges their clients!!been with Dr. Proctor and his staff truly believes in the best healthcare for their patients, without being hindered by the hoops we all must jump through for the big box insurance companies. Another example, my husband and his brother (who lives out of state) have similar testosterone levels. Both of them suffered from low levels of energy, mid-day sleepiness, poor moods, etc. Dr. Proctor said my husband's testosterone blood level was at the low end of normal, but a blood level number doesn't matter as much as how you feel because everyone's "normal" is different. Doc immediately suggested he start taking low dose testosterone meds and slowly Doc Proc got my husband back to our normal [let me just say, "thanks, Doc Proc!!!" ......big smiles from this happy wife:-)!!] My brother-in-Law doesn't have the luxury of a doctor that can see outside of the medical journal's definition of "normal". Unfortunately his doc-in-a-box can only see his blood test "low end of normal" is still normal, so he doesn't need any testosterone, regardless of how he feels:-(! There are many archaic doctors doing business only by the numbers and not by the individual, which is forcing patients, like my brother-in-law, to find a doctor with a smarter way of doing business. Our family is blessed to have found a smarter way of doing business at McKinney Family Medicine and so glad they see us as individuals and not just a number. read more

There are a couple of things that annoy me lately --like a $10 "administrative fee" to pickup an RX from the front desk and a $25 quarterly blood test if you take a controlled substance (to verify you are taking your RX) -- but I overlook them because of the great care I have always received here. read more
