"You need to wear a mask and we need to see your insurance card" was the opening line when I…read morearrived for my appointment to address an acute eye injury. This was from the Oompa Loompa receptionist with the personality of two grit sandpaper. My response to this was "I hope y'all are as eager to look at my eye as you are my wallet" Subsequently the rest of the visit was not the most pleasant, the assistant and doctor spent more time typing on the computer than actually providing patient care. The eye pain relief was temporary, about 20 minutes and nothing was dispensed to mimick the effects of the pain relieving eye drops. So I suffered the rest of the day with terrible episodes of pain. Upon departing the office, I perused through two papers which were handed to me, only to discover a hand written sticky note on the second page which stated "this guy was very rude when he came in". Talk about a total lack of self awareness, the receptionists attitude and opening line when I arrived was exactly what she claimed my response to her was - rude. She set the tone of the visit and the staff -thanks to her note - followed suit. I sought a second opinion the next day with a visit to a different doctor. And was treated with empathy and professionalism. I wouldn't return to this Eye Care and Surgery Center muppet fest if I had a fork impaled in my eye.
