The good news is that the DMV has improved significantly. This Social Security office and department has much to learn. It has been over 15+ years since I have had access to my SS information and benefits. So before making an appointment to come to this office, I amazingly was able to get online access last week, so I suggested for my wife to do the same. And now they locked her out?!?! So after a very long wait and a few tries on the phone to clear her account, it failed. They had us go to the local post office for an in person verification, but it was a different system and can NOT communicate currently with the SS system. What a waste of time. So on the phone again... Made an in person appointment to our local office. Well we thought we did, the lady (that lied) said she did. But when we got there, NO appointment was found. So they gave us a walk in #. After an hour of waiting, we asked the security guard if this was normal. He said no and gave us a few suggestions. While my wife worked on his suggestions, I started asking ALL the people around me how long they have been waiting, up to 4 hours... WHAT!!!! The good news is that we are still very young and will not apply for the benefits any time soon. I hope my wife gets online access years from now.... Atmosphere - Small parking lot, but more than enough spaces for everyone. Small lobby, not enough room for everyone. Clean restrooms. Service - The two security guards were friendly and nice. And also helpful. The rest of the employees were stressed out! Understaffed, overworked, and probably underpaid. Price - Decades of payroll contributions!!!!!!! And only get to hear from the media that benefits keep getting pushed out later with less $$. Owner Comment - What a broken system. Please get with the times.

Yesterday, on sat, my friend found her cat by following his cries only to find him in the tip top branches of a very tall tree. He couldn't get down. She was almost hysterical at her Esa animal in that predicament. She called the local fire dept and 15 min later she had 5 firemen at her door. They took the time to crawl onto the 2nd story roof and use a tool to pull the branch to them, then they threw a blanket over him and brought him gently back down to her. After completing all the necessary forms I started to walk away thinking I had to come back the next day to pick it up. She called over to me and said she would only be a minute if I want to just stay right there and wait. Within 3 min she called me over and gave me the certificate. The internet gave me an address for the amtrak station at 135 E commercial through AI, well screw ai because that sent me to a dead end with overgrown grass near some train tracks, while the real address was 280 n center street outside the amtrak station, to top it off I had an adventure trying to locate where to catch the "amtrak" coach. I needed to get to San Francisco and it necessitated not driving. I looked at various options for getting to the bay area and I can realize how bad our transportation system is in just the western part of united states. In this day and age one would think you could get a direct train from the state capitol of nevada to the bay area or from reno. Fooled you, there is no train to the bay area via such. From the trip I endured, from reno to san francisco. The trip entails a ridiculous long bus ride from reno to sacramento then a transfer to a real amtrak train to emeryville, then another bus ride to somewhere in san francisco. I gotta admit I saw the country from a very high vantage point, we sat in a coach that was at or above the height of a semi, stuff I never see while I'm driving, since I'm not a sightseer no big deal, I'm pretty much a point A to point B driver. The bus trip was around five hours, I could have driven to the bay area in that amount of time, then to sacramento transferring to a real Amtrak train to emeryville and transferring to a bus to an area south of market when I had to figure my bearings to walk up to market street to get muni. I finally ended my travels that day around 10pm after starting at 1pm and if I had try to leave from carson city my trip would have started around 8am. So in closing our public transportation is woefully inadequate in a populated area, on would imagine how inadequate it is out in a unpopulated area.

These folks (Army? Nat'l Guard?) were fast and efficient. I was swabbed inside my nose (10 secs each side) and that was it - I pulled out of the lot at 10:00 and was home by 10:07. To get tested you MUST make an appt. go to https://covid19washoe.com to set a time. If you choose this location, it'd be pretty hard to miss the entrance bc the signage is everywhere. Take I-80 to Wells Ave then turn north on Wells, past the Motel 6 - then you'll see signs guiding you to the entrance (on SUTRO). Stay in your car with all the windows UP. The first checkpoint will take your name. Have your ID ready to go - then hold it up to the window. Second checkpoint they confirm who you are (by DOB) and put a document under your wipers for the next checkpoint where they do the test. You'll blow your nose first, then the person in the ET Spacesuit will swab. Then you're done!
