I found this place from reviews. It doesn't look like much from the pictures but people give it really high reviews so I wanted to give them a try. I believe the owner is an old couple. First visit had an older woman as the cashier that grabbed my items and rung me up. The second visit was an older man running the venue. They probably own the place. This place is in the middle of a small strip mall. The store is packed with pastries, cooking additives, and cakes. I tried all 3 pies: cheese, mushroom, and spinach. All 3 pastries are extremely flaky and good. The pies are bigger than you would expect. Best to warm up the pieces before eating. The cheese is pretty basic. The mushroom takes like a protein and is very filling. The spinach is flavorful. I tried the black forest cake (white top and black top) and the fruit cake. All three tasted pretty similar and pretty good. I also tried the cookie, almond crescent, and brownie. The cookie is hard as a brick. I should have sprayed the cookie with water and microwaved it to bring softness back. The almond crescent and brownie are amazing. The almond crescent has the perfect balance of sweetness and savory. The brownie is soft and chocolatey. Their is a smoothness in the brownies that is unmatched. read more

This bakery is a small, cozy located in a nondescript strip mall on Cheshire Bridge Rd. It is indeed "international" in so many ways, ranging from the ownership, the clientele, and of course, the products. You will see many of the food items don't even have English written on them (though there are, at times, helpful translations). Much of it seems to be Greek, though I imagine that other Old World inspirations (Macedonia?) are relevant as well. They seem to specialize in baked goods. Desserts pervade the venue in any forms, ranging from large cakes to smaller pastries. I decided to support a local bakery by ordering a birthday cake for my toddler, rather than defaulting to the reliable green giant of grocers in the neighborhood. I arrived at International Bakery the day of the party to pick it up, festive spirit in tow. But the cake? Not ready. Not even started. The man behind the counter offered no greeting, no apology--just told me to wait five minutes, like I was ordering a sandwich. He retrieved a frozen cake, hastily applied lemon filling, and adorned it with blue roses. I had asked for a fully blue cake--filling, icing, the works. What I received looked like it belonged at a church basement baby shower. Not exactly what you want for a three-year-old's birthday. Eventually, he admitted he hadn't submitted the order. Still no apology. No discount. No attempt at restitution. Just vibes. I wanted to believe in the neighborhood bakery. I've always been curious about the International Bakery next door to Taqueria del Sol and one day we thought, why not. The bakery was quiet but the food and decor was like a loud supermarket, just without all the noise. I've never craved Greek desserts before but I was intrigued since they all looked so beautiful. I limited myself to only two, and we ended up getting a mini cream puff and a fruit tart. The mini cream puff was SO cute I couldn't resist. There was WAY too much cream (although, is that ever REALLY a bad thing?). The fruit tart wasn't the easiest dessert to eat or share, but definitely a pretty dessert and also pretty tasty. The guy at the counter was quiet and left us alone while we shopped and decided. Not especially helpful but I didn't mind being left to my own devices!! If I'm ever in the area again with a sweet tooth, I can imagine myself stopping back in for another treat - however, I'm not sure I would go out of my way for it, especially since I live much closer to another local Greek bakery! read more

Customer service was fast. He was not particular talkative/friendly which I don't mind. The baklava and spinach pie were fantastic taste wise but just a bit soggy and lacked the flakiness I love. The almond crescents were the best I have had in a while and the tiramisu was a different take then what I was used to. It was a bit more plain and didnt have the bottom coffee layer I am used to. This place is a hidden gem, located just north of the bridge on Cheshire Bridge Road. It doesn't look like much from the exterior, but inside is an old-school Greek bakery where pastries and cookies are made by George and his wife with love. Our stops here are always preceded by lunch at Taqueria del Sol - two doors away. When I first discovered this Bakery, I mentioned it to a Greek friend. He immediately recognized the place and told me how they provide the baklava at most Middle Eastern restaurants in metro Atlanta. It is obvious why. If I have one regret it was the regret of driving past this place day in and day out and never stopping in to see what they had to offer. I see the "OPEN" sign at 8 AM so I have no excuse. I went yesterday....and today...and will most likely be back tomorrow. Yesterday I had the most delightful coconut maccaroon that was dipped in chocolate on the base. It was dripping in the syrup and was flaky and magical....and a little messy. So good that I had to return again. Today I mixed it up. I got a lb of cookies (almond lace and pretzel looking shortbread cookies dipped in chocolate and sprinkles), a sesame snack bar, dark chocolate black forrest cake slice and a Spinach pastry. I ate the spinach pastry which was like Spanikopita and it was OMG divine!!!! The cookies were shared among the friends and fam and are so good! The sesame snack was so sweet and delish. Taste: Placed the following order: 1.Baklava (available per piece or pack of 18 piece etc):They were delicious with rich dry fruits filling, being crispy, flaky with perfect level of sweetness. I picked up the triangle shaped Baklava. They also have ladyfingers shaped and tart shaped Baklava available. 2.Tiramisu cake(piece): it is a tiramisu flavored 2 layered cake. The cake was spongy and the frosting fresh with the ideal Tiramisu flavor. 3.Coconut mousse cake (piece): 2 layer spongy cake with coconut mousse frosting. Tasted good. 4.Fruit (cake) tart: This was a delectable tart. The tart was firm and the filling was creamy, topped with fresh strawberries and kiwi. The above pieces of cakes/rectangular pastries cost somewhere around $2.75 each. Service: The staff was friendly, helpful and polite to answer my queries regarding items available. Overall, I liked everything that I ordered. Of what I ordered, Baklava were certainly the best. Cakes here might not be the best you ever had, but they provide you a delightful feeling/taste of a spongy home baked cake with fresh frosting. Tastes comforting. I would love to visit here again to try other bakery products they offer. Price is quite reasonable.
