Terrible, absolutely terrible. Our tickets indicated that the show would start at 4:30pm, with no comments to expect opening acts. Opening act after opening act and..... One of the worst places in town. 1. Ridiculous prices. You will pay $8 for a dixie cup with a splash of liquor in it. You might think the $5 tap beer is a steal, then. It's not. STAY AWAY FROM THE TAP. It's nasty. 2. Horribly run. A couple years ago, this place went bankrupt from embezzlement. Somehow, it survived by continuing run itself in the worst way possibe. The staff would obviously rather be somewhere else (wouldn't you?). They will be rude to you throughout your stay and kick you out as soon as the show is over. Also, they make their opening acts sell all their tickets for them, or else pay to play. 3. Horribly run-down. You'd think the absurd amount you pay to drink here would go into making the place a little better; however, possibly for reasons stated previously, it does not. The whole place is disgusting. And not in the charming, dive-bar way. In the get-me-out-of-here-before-I-contract-diseases-left-over-from-college-night-grinding way. 4. Sound and Lights. As stated previously, the staff would rather be someplace else, and the place has little-to-no interest in improvements. That leaves these aspects of the show laughable (maybe not right away -- while the wound that comes from wasting your time and money is fresh -- but you'll laugh about it later). 4. Waste of a night. I read someone's review who gave this place 5 stars for booking Man Man. I was at that show too. I had fun, but they didn't book that show. Someone else did all the work, and then had the show there. This place has survived too long because it was the only mid-sized venue around, and Grand Rapids didn't have a choice. Luckily, that has changed. There are enough awesome events and shows going on around town that it has become a waste of a night to settle on the Intersuction. Now, even if I like the band that is playing there, I won't go. I don't (and shouldn't) have to. I'll catch them somewhere else -- and if you're booking your band at this place, know that I am not alone. read more

Fantastic music venue for people who don't care about anything! A lot of great bands have played here both national and local. Not many of them have sounded good, which is fortunate for me as I don't like to hear a good mix of music at a show anyways. The stage lighting for bands is usually one color left at "On." This is perfect so you don't have any silly lights distracting you while you're trying to listen to the muddled music. It just kind of sucks when a touring band comes in and actually uses them for every song, changing colors, etc. Drag, but not the venues fault. Luckily I found that their keg beer tastes like it was mopped up from the bathroom floor and it's only $10 for a MICRO pitcher of Labatt Blue!!! Best price in town!!! Not positive, but it tastes like they do not clean their keg lines which is good as it adds that aged flavor that sticks with you long after you've left! Sometimes I opt for the steal-of-a-deal $3.75 bottle of Miller High Life or the $5.00 Dixie cup mixed drink. Sweet prices!!! How can you go wrong?!?! The staff is never rude at all and are definitely not cocky annoyed people. ;) Please promise me you will never clean the place. Such a worn in odor, grime much like that of your old favorite pair of jeans! Finally, you can't ignore the best part all: The design of the bathrooms. I tire of restrooms with stall doors as it blocks the view of me sitting on the toilet. With custom door-less bathroom stalls, it adds a nice touch if you like people watching you go #2. This was my first time comng out of town for a show here. I was excited. Unfortunately i realized quickly that the bartenders do not know how to deal with someone with a speech impediment. I ordered drinks and they thought I was really messed up because I was stuttering. They cut me off, so i simply asked for a refund considering they took my drinks away. They wouldnt even talk to me at this point and the guy just said "Nope". The drinks i had totaled to 29.00 and it is now showing a 35.00 charge which means they illegally put a 5.00 tip on my card when i walked away. I feel degraded and havent felt like this at another venue. Also, the capacity issue is a real problem. There needs to be a disclaimer somewhere because I had no idea that I wouldnt be able to see who I paid for and i would be stuck in a room when I paid a pretty good chunk of money for a ticket. read more

Great venue. Very lucky to have this so close to home. Big enough for big names like Datsik, BTSM, Pegboard nerds, Herobust, Rusko..... There is a bar up front in the stache, one in the back of the venue and both vips have a small bars with table service. The staff is awesome too. My friend and I are Throwing a bachelorette party here tomorrow night at Midnight Tyrannosaurus. She reserved the top right VIP section. woop. Went here for the 80's band paid $15 online to see band. It's $3.00 to check your coat in. A beer was $7.00. Got there and all the tables were reserved, nothing on website about reserving tables. Staff was ok, not friendly. Parking is not good either $8.00 to park. Probably would not return. read more

June 2017 Update - I went to a show at the Intersection and gave the draft beer another shot. To my delight, the beer was fresh, and the draft lines were clean! I enjoyed the beer all night! I hope that the draft system continues to perform well in the future. read more

As a daughter of a comedian, I grew up going to show after show, venue after venue, establishment after establishment. Never in my entire 25 years of life have I come across such an awfully run, poor excuse for a venue. The staff are rude, obnoxious, and entitled. I was deeply disappointed by the way my sister and I were treated despite our mature and kind nature. I will never ever be returning and I will be highly discouraging my peers, especially my artists ones to never attend or play this venue. read more

My husband and I went to a show here last week. We had never been here before so we were excited to try it out. Parking was a bit of a struggle but that is to be expected downtown. We ended up doing street parking near Founder's. Our show was in the back, bigger part of the Intersection and we were surprised how big it was. It was a nice big open warehouse type space. There were some table and chairs in the back and on the sides. Neither of us got any drinks so I can't comment on the bar or service. I also went to the restroom and it was clean. We enjoyed our show and the venue and hope to see more shows here in the future. read more

Please GR concert venues - teach your employees to be more polite to your patrons! Customer service is important! There is no reason for employees to be rude to customers. Your customers want to have an enjoyable experience. When they are treated badly by the people at the front door - it sets a precedence for the evening. read more

My wife and I went there for the first time and saw Drew Scott he wasn't very good but his opening act was. The intersection itself was excellent with easy lines to the restrooms and to get drinks and the staff was very courteous. Next to Founders Brewery and The Tin Can along with a couple other places for some after-concert entertainment. read more

This was probably the worst concert venue I've ever been to in my entire life, and I would consider myself a pretty seasoned concert-goer. First of all, they rob you with the parking. I'm currently handicapped and they had no handicapped parking option. Not that big of a deal since we were downtown, but there was a lot next to the venue with handicapped signs that was closed off to the public. Very suspicious. They had us coming through a small side door which was also inconvenient. The venue itself was spacious albeit not very clean. The biggest problem I had was the handicap section, which was poorly placed toward the back of the venue on the ground level, even though there were two upper levels on the side where people were sitting. There was no way to sit down and see the show, it was ridiculous and not planned out well at all. On top of that, the staff was just rude and not very helpful. I will not be returning. read more

The intersection has a small lounge in front, and the concert hall is in back. There's plenty of free parking on the streets nearby. I've never had to walk more than three blocks to get back to my car. If you get there right when doors open, the lines tend to be pretty long, so be prepared (especially if it's winter). They do have a coat check, but it often gets full. I'm not sure if it's free, but I usually just leave my coat in my car since it can get a little smoky by the coat check. The concert hall is a great Grand Rapids venue. The acoustics are great and shows are usually reasonably priced (although the same cannot be said for drinks--but what do you expect?). The size of the venue allows you to be close to the action no matter where you are, and shows at the Intersection are always a great time. Just be prepared to leave soaked in beer from head-to-toe. Things can get pretty wild, depending on who is playing the show. read more

The Intersection is a venue I didn't expect to like so much. I love small venues and I always thought this place would be bigger than my liking. Plus they never seemed to book shows I wanted to see for a while. Then one day...Something happened. A little awesome something, called Man Man. The Intersection booked a band that I had seen in the past, a band that I felt I was alone in my devotion, a band that put on the single greatest concert experience I've ever had the pleasure of causing my brains to blow out the back of my head. Does that sentence even make sense? If not, it describes the insanity of a Man Man show. Okay, I'm getting off track. The Intersection booked this band, when in the past I thought they booked a little more mainstream bands. Not a bad thing necessarily. Just not my type of music so even though I had been to tons of concerts, this was my first Intersection experience. Although I wasn't a huge fan of the crowd (they were really rough), the staff was awesome! They would actually pull rough-housers out of the crowd if they were causing too much trouble. I've never really seen this much at a show. And I really appreciated it. The only thing I'm not a huge fan of at this place is that they have a gate that prohibits fans from being right up against the stage. It's not that big of a deal since I know a lot of venues are like this. But the benefit of a smaller venue usually allows you to get closer to the band. So that would be a nice change, or at least if they took it down for some concerts so long as the artists didn't mind. And the crowd isn't always bad (depends on the show obviously). I just got back from seeing Electric Six and it was bar-none one of the best crowds I've had the pleasure of spending an amazing show with. Everyone gave everyone enough space to dance. No elbowing, no pushing, no moshing. But everyone was still having an awesome time and if you bumped into someone from dancing too hard, it was no big deal. And it's not smoky anymore...plus! ANOTHER good thing(!)...Is that they don't throw away their drink specials just because there's a concert. The night we saw Man Man was a Tuesday and all of their Michigan craft beers were $3 all night! And they have good stuff! Bells', Founders, etc. Not to mention, it's right down the street from Founders. Anything within walking distance to Founders is just awesome by association. They're practically rubbing elbows, in a friendly-not-distracting-you-from-the-show kinda way, of course! :) read more

Most horrific business I've ever encountered. Perhaps their staff need to be retrained or replaced. Our group had purchased tickets for an event and when we tried to enter we were denied for being "too drunk". The irony was we were planning on purchasing drinks once we had got into the Intersection so we were sober. We asked for a breathalyzer and then asked for the manager but we weren't allowed either and made to go home. Our tickets were not refunded and we were essentially stolen from not including the cost of the taxi to get there and back home. Will never go to the intersection again and will attempt to dissuade everyone I know for ever going. read more

Had the time of my life at Mega 80s night! I was pretty skeptical before arriving but the place was packed, people were really into it, and the band was phenomenal! I've never seen such a performance by any cover band. I'll definitely go back! read more

Went to see a show last night and within five minutes of the band starting I get a tap on the shoulder and told by a bouncer that I need to leave because I was smoking. Completely confused as to what he was talking about, I reply "me?" He replies, "yes, I saw you smoking." I was honestly dumbfounded. After a few more exchanges and my confused looks, he finally said - well if you do smoke, go outside. Well, I don't smoke - cigarettes or otherwise, so for him to come up to me and wrongly accuse me of doing so, with such determination completely ruined the rest of my night. I realize that the bouncers have to deal with obnoxious people all that time, that break the rules, but I am not one of those people. I came to watch a show and have a nice night with my boyfriend - both of us drinking water, mind you. We've been here several times, but I won't be going back. read more

So sad you have to go here to see musical acts in Grand Rapids. They realize that you don't have a choice. I don't think the place has changed at all since I was here three years ago. The service from staff is nonexistent security and bar tenders were very stern. Not the type of attitude and tone you want to be dealing with when your out trying to have a good time. Then they want fifteen for admission alright, maybe you could justify that with a quality act. They will sell you craft beers at $3 until 9 when the music actually starts. Then magically it's $6 for the same small clear plastic dixie cup of beer. Give me a break, it's not about the money it's the concept. I will be avoiding The Intersection from now on and traveling to Detroit and Chicago for music. If I spend more just to achieve the same results then so be it. I will be happy knowing I didn't support The Intersection pricks in their efforts to screw over bands and shaft the fans that follow them. read more

Really like the concerts they have come through. Alcohol is too expensive during shows though. Like 10 dollars a pitcher plus a fee to use your credit card. They also charged me double last time on my bar tab and never returned any phone calls I placed. Security is pretty tight as well. read more

I was only here once to see Memphis May Fire. For shows, it's a pretty good atemosphere. The place was crawling with drunk cougars and creepers though lolol. The crowd was rather tough and a bit rude, but I made a few friends. The staff is what really grinded my gears...most of them were rude. They were either really nice or really...not. The coat lady was rude and the bartenders were rude and the merch dude was rude...they all seemed antsy and like they'd rather be somewhere else. I get that you hate your job but if it's that bad maybe you should QUIT. I then went into the bar section in the front to get my coat 30 minutes after the show ended and the scene and people were all kinda shady...it was kinda weird hahaha. I'd suggest it only if you really wanna see one of your favorite acts. Didn't even go to the bathroom because they smelled so bad. Security is pretty strict but you can tell they just wanna keep kids safe. read more

Hands down the best bar in Grand Rapids Michigan. Incredible atmosphere with great rockin' people. The bartenders are friendly and good at their jobs, the drinks are incredibly reasonable and well mixed and hey not too hard on the eyes (they are hot ppl hehe). If you wanna see what GR is all about, don't go to Hopcat or Founders, come to the intersection for the best bar and rock show atmosphere you can imagine. read more

(I am the production manager for a band that played there). Tried calling multiple times on multiple days to get ANYONE on the phone, never got a return phone call. Canceled the card. I just saw a show here and was impressed. Contrary to some of the reviews I read, parking was not a problem. If you are willing to pay a couple bucks there is a lot right across the street for $3. The shows had already started, but when I got there there were no lines to get in and we walked right through. You go through a small bar and into a much larger warehouse-type building. Lighting was good and there were bars throughout, and the bathrooms were CLEAN, unusual for a concert venue/bar. I thought the place was great. If it weren't for my 3 hour drive to get there, I would give it a 5 star. read more

I am a regular here, and know everyone that works here. I go to a lot of concerts, and have NEVER had a problem. Until now. I recently went to a concert (rather I say tried to go). I had bought tickets, waited in line, and went in just like everyone else. A good friend of mine works there, and as soon as I walked in the door, he man handled me like I was a piece of meat, and told me that I would either talk to him, or he would kick me out. Dumbfounded, I went to talk to him. He continued to squeeze my arm as he pulled me to a 'quite' spot. I had finger marks because he had my arm so hard. He started yelling at me for no reason, and as I went to walk away, he grabbed my arm once again and yanked it. I continued to walk away, going outside with my friends to cool off. He placed himself strategically throughout the venue just so he could keep an eye on me. He was at the door when I went to walk back in, put his arm up to block my way, and said get your coat, you out. I asked him why, and he told me because HE couldn't handle HIS EMOTIONS seeing me talk to my friends. Is this even possible? Can a guard kick me out of a venue for a reason like that? read more
