When we mentioned the poor service we received at Stella's, the staff at The Apartment Lounge immediately apologized on their behalf (even though it wasn't their fault!) and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. The atmosphere was welcoming, the drinks were so much better than what we had at Stella's, and the service was exceptional. Special shout out to Matty, our bartender, who was not only friendly and attentive but also mixed up some incredible cocktails! They completely turned our night around. This time however, they had Korean fried chicken tacos as a special. My wife made me order it because she knows if I didn't, I'd be complaining all the way home. This item should become a regular. Wonderfully flavored chicken with Korean sauces and spices and vegetables in a usual taco set up, My wife became enamored with the Mediterranean salad which she says is the closest thing she's been able to find that resembles what she craves from Greece and Italy. She added chicken which was a generous portion so I sampled some and it was excellent. While waiting for lunch to arrive, I looked at the drink menu, specifically bourbons. Holiday has a impressive list and I was surprised to find even the hard to get, allocated bourbons were in stock and "reasonably" priced. After I sat down and ordered, about 6 other folks walked in and sat at the bar. They all seemed to know each other and the staff, calling them by name. Each of them ordered and got their meal before I did, although I had ordered at least 15 minutes before any of them entered. The waitress chatted up the guys at the bar, but didn't say more than 2 words to me. My 'Broadway Burger' was good, but nothing spectacular. I've had the Olive Burger before and I think I prefer that. This place is probably great for the regulars, but you're not one of that crowd, it's definitely not worth the 'Children of the Corn' treatment.

I like to examine the muted floor tiles; classic linoleum squares in working-class hues of green, red, and black. The music is set to a regular volume, allowing free conversation between you and your compatriots. The bar is well-regarded as owning the cleanest taps in Grand Rapids. Usually the only three beers on tap are Killians Irish Red, Sierra Nevada, and Fosters; they are the best tastes of said beers I have ever had. And the price is right, as well. It's cash only, which although slightly inconvenient, really adds to the vibe. (I believe they have an ATM but don't quote me). They have some packaged snacks, like bags of chips or pretzels, but no other food. It's the perfect place to stop in, grab a beer, and go back in time for a little while!
