I like surprises. Just not when I buy batteries. I have bought batteries for several years from here. My extended family (6 cars) also buys here. This week I bought a battery for $188. But at least they will check my need and install it. OOPS! AFTER it was installed he charged me for the battery and said there was now a $10 install charge! AFTER ...! I asked him why. "The cost of lead has gone up", he said. Everyone knows a major draw to Interstate is the complimentary install. Not only should he tell me BEFORE he installed it. But let's face it, they have a hefty markup in a new battery. Why ruin a trade off by not installing?! It's bad business to not alert before the install and to add another expense is ridiculous. Here's an idea: put batteries on sell, sell lots of them, bring back free install and good business will more than pay for that lead read more

INEXPERIENCED STAFF DAMAGED MY CAR. The assistant manager was looking for a place to plug in a diagnostic tool and, in looking for it, forced off my console, damaging it. The plug for the diagnostic tool was no where near where John was looking for it, and there was no need to remove the console, let alone force it out of place. The asst manager was BOTH IGNORANT AND NEGLIGENT. When I confronted the manager about it, he was belligerent, and he would not acknowledge that it was damaged even though the asst manager confessed that he forced the console out if its place (and then jammed it back into place). The manager would not replace the console, nor did he offer compensation of any kind. On top of this, another of their employees clearly lacked knowledge about how to diagnose my battery (the reason for my visit), which was 9 months old and was draining if I would leave the car in the garage for a couple of days. He kept going in and out of the store for tools or advise from others. He ended up determining that he needed to swap my battery with a loaner so they could do a diagnostic test (requiring me to come back for a second visit). When the manager finally got involved, he attached a diagnostic tool (took about 5 seconds) and found that the car was using current even when the car was shut off. So, after about 45 minutes of this other employee bumbling around, the diagnosis took 5 seconds! How can you run a BATTERY business with people who don't know how to diagnose a battery-related problem and who would sloppily handle the valuable property of their customers? read more

I like the ability to get batteries for my dog's shock collars for the underground fence. The batteries we get at the store last longer than the ones we used to buy from the dealer. It also saves me about a 15 mile trip to get batteries now that my original installer passed away and the person with the business now lives much further away. read more

Stopped in to get a battery installed in my vehicle. Waited at the counter for a few minutes, not long, one worker helping a customer one worker on the phone. The one helping a customer got freed up and he immediately went to help the guy who came in after me. Ugh, I hate that. Walked out. I give them a zero for customer service. Then, the guy on the phone hollered at me as I was almost out the door. That's okay, quick look on my smart phone shows other places sell Interstate auto batteries for about the same price. read more
