They explained both options--cleaning the terminal or doing the more complete repair--and I chose to address it properly and replace the amp. Fortunately, they had the exact replacement in stock. The lead tech took the time to check the grounding connection and answer my questions without brushing me off. They also had me test the system before leaving, which I appreciated.
