I needed some storage on the fly. This place was near where I was moving and had availability in…read moreon of their 10x20 units. (They have 4 different sizes). Their phone service was a little confusing as they have two different self storage locations with different names and different websites. Their storage facility is clean, easy to get into and has pull through access for big trucks. It's off the main road for privacy and easy access. It's got a variety of different sized units for reasonable prices. It was easy to get someone to book the unit, but a few times I had issues it was hard to find someone to help me. Issue #1: The entrance gate didn't work with my code after using it for a whole day. I had to sneak in and find the release to let myself in (not really secure). At other times, the gate was broken and left open. Issue #2: When you call their "emergency number" no one answers. Issue #3: Not all locks work on these doors. Make sure you get one of those round locks that clicks into itself or you WON'T BE ABLE TO LOCK THE DOOR. I would store things here again if need be, but want others to be aware of the issues that may arise.

March 2023, two adult females planning to move away from downtown Portland, Maine, only across…read moretown, were left feeling taken advantage of by Local Muscle, and now DO NOT recommend using them. When asked ahead of time if they would wrap antique furniture items with padding and elastic bands, Local Muscle said yes, but showed up and said they do not do that. When 4 men showed up LATE, one woman client specified to the leader to kindly move largest and heaviest items first, as anything smaller remaining at the end, the two women would move themselves in their car. The women had placed all items near the apartment door, to be easy to carry out the door of the apartment. Several hours later, after one man only stood by the elevator the whole time, the leader man told the client woman they were about to finish in about 10 minutes, take lunch, then go to the new home and unload. The woman had been going back and forth to the moving truck and knew it was only half full, and most of the largest and heaviest items were still sitting in the apartment. The woman asked the man in charge to help her understand, after she clearly specified in the beginning that the team of hired men were to move the largest and heaviest items first, why had they NOT done so? The man in charge said, We move smaller things first and largest things last, so once we arrive at the new home, the largest items are unloaded first. The woman said this was not what she requested, not how most movers move in her own experience, and now they would be left with the largest and heaviest items they could not fit in their car or lift and put into a rented truck on their own. The man in charge said, Well you can hire us *for another day* like tomorrow to finish the job. (RED FLAG: Fraud, swindle, hoax, scheme!) The woman replied, First, Local Muscle had no openings for yesterday or tomorrow, which is why we scheduled you for today; and second, we must be out of the apartment by tomorrow, so TODAY IS ALL WE HAVE with you guys, which is why we tried to be very clear that you are needed to help move our HEAVIEST AND LARGEST ITEMS. Also, why would we pay you *more money to hire you for a second day* to move what we asked you to move the first day? The man in charge asked the woman to walk around and show him the largest items (as she had done previously). She did, and he had his team load some of the items. The two women traveled to the new place, met the Local Muscle team of men, and they had added two more *so their unload* would go quicker. (Why have two more on the tail end and not the front end to help load all of the items and fill the truck?) The men finished unloading, and the man in charge said the charge would be FAR MORE than the original estimate, plus they asked for a tip and stood there looking at the woman who had to approve the charge. What a waste of money and time. An additional van needed to be rented, loaded, and unloaded by the women for the items Local Muscle left behind. Was this because the move was from Commercial Street, a presumption that these two women were rich and could easily be swindled? STAY AWAY FROM LOCAL MUSCLE. BEWARE.

Max, who I believe has been here about 4 months, is the absolute best. I had reserved a 10x30 unit,…read morewhich was way bigger than I needed but I wanted to have extra space to easily access my things until I find a house. I booked over the phone in advance, drove my 20ft Uhaul across the US, and arrived to find a lock on my unit. I walked over to the office, thinking that they might keep the units locked for security. Max hopped up to help, because he though it was open and ready for me. Seems an old tenant came by and put a lock on. Max drove 30 minutes away to get a file to take the lock off, and even then, me and my movers couldn't get the door open (Max tried and even called someone for help). To save time so I could return my Uhaul on time, Max found me two 10x20s (I only ended up needing one) and my movers unloaded everything into it. Max offered to move everything into my 10x30 the next day when they fixed the door (turns out a piece of metal from the lock had somehow blocked the lock, but none of us could see it). I decided to just keep the 10x20, since everything fit just fine, and Max adjusted my invoice to reflect the difference in price. THINGS HAPPEN. Excellent service and a can-do attitude are the best solution a company can offer. I couldn't have asked for more and am very happy to have my things stored here.

He immediately called and the person working said oh sorry I will change it, don't worry. Gave him the number of the bigger unit. He wrote it down. I called to confirm the location the morning of and the worker confirmed the number and location of unit. Hours later our movers showed up and it was the wrong size unit and our stuff would not fit. My husband , myself and some family members all tried . I called every 2 minutes for hours my husband drove to the office and the sign said working at a different location ( NO ADDRESS given) but the same phone number we had been calling. Our movers were able to find a solution. I continued to call and leave messages every few minutes ( not exaggerating I was furious and wanted my money back) I tried for 2.5 days before I finally was in contact with someone over the Facebook page. Which one of the workers responded on their personal page very rudely and unprofessional. They tried to say that I was lying and I replied I would be very happy to provide my phone records. That's when I'm not sure if that person switched over to the halls Facebook account to reply or someone else saw her behavior and they replied that someone will call me shortly to resolve it . Well hours later no one called ( even though at least one worker was able to respond on Facebook back and fourth) she wasn't able to use the phone I guess . Hours later I called a different location and was finally able to get my money back! But all in all I was lucky my movers found a place big enough for my stuff but I had to pay for 2 extra hours of my movers because of this!!!

I've stored my overflow at Noyes since moving to Portland a few years ago (and actually stored…read moreallllllll my stuff here for some months originally). Like Noyes' moving service, this is one of those things where spending a bit more is worth it: this place is clean and temperature controlled, and the staff are all super helpful. They're always monitoring so you'll feel perfectly safe even going down those various hallways that are dark at first (don't worry, the lights turn on via sensor!). It's always a breeze to pull in and load and unload; there are plenty of carts and a huge elevator. Once I leave I never think twice about my stuff here--which is as it should be, because I know it's in good hands!
