Rather than having to drive to their main location on Newberry Road in Gainesville, we have physicians as well as a complete physical therapy center right here in Alachua. My review today is about the physical therapy center. I have been to the Center for various things dating back to 2013. Chris, the physical therapist, meets with you during your first visit to do an intake assessment. He has a wonderful and caring personality and talks with you to learn more about your injury and your needs. He also discusses your goals to see where you want to be. After doing his assessment he develops a physical therapy plan for you and you typically start your treatment that day (at least I have). My treatment plan usually requires coming to the office twice a week. When you enter, you sign in and then one of the physical therapy assistants will get you started. I won't discuss specific treatment plans because everyone is different but I will say that the office is not overly crowded, you do get personalized attention, and it is a fun atmosphere. I enjoy talking with the staff as well as the other clients. So, if you are ever in need of physical therapy, I suggest you give the Alachua center of the orthopedic institute a try. They can get you on the track to good health and help you meet or exceed your goals.

My PCP referred me to Dr. Amy Nance at the NFRMC cancer center. I had no ideal of a treatment plan for breast cancer nor did I know what to except or what I was supposed to do.....but Dr Amy Nance did!!! My first appointment with Dr Nance was very informative and I was very much impressed by her extensive knowledge, which put my physical and emotional state at ease. I had so many questions about my diagnosis and what was going to happen next and she answered all of them; there was no time limit as long as I had questions she was going to stay in the room with me and answer all of them, she wanted me to feel comfortable with the treatment plan, which I was!! Dr. Nance became my PCP for my cancer diagnosis and treatment , she did all the referrals to the other specialists that were going to be a part of my cancer treatment team and those referrals were to the best specialist. Dr Nance is wonderful, she listened and understood my concerns and had solutions for them, which I greatly appreciated. Let me reassure anyone who is going through a diagnosis of cancer, if you want the best oncologist to treat you, I will always recommend Dr. Amy Nance. There's a couple members of the office staff who are less than impressive (I was incorrectly billed once and when I went in, in person, to speak with them about the error, the girl I spoke to looked at me as if I was speaking Klingon: if you work in medical billing, you should be able to read a medical bill, sorry) however, the medical staff from Dr. Diane Walker and Dr. Husband to the nurses, is superb. Dr. Martin, a physician who used to practice here but left for a primary care practice in Ocala, was also great--I've even considered switching over to him as my own primary care despite that he's now 45 minutes away: he was simply that good.
