When an emergency causes them to run late they will let you know about potential additional wait time. Scheduling appointments and procedures is easy process. Dr Johnston staff handles the insurance and appeals if there is a denial of coverage. I would recommed Dr Johnston and Interventional Pain Institute strongly. My personal experience with his practice has been second to none since I began seeing him about 8 years ago.

At the request of his spine surgeon last Friday, he asked Dr. Johnston to put the epidural between two specific vertebrae. The doctor refused and became irate, so my husband left. The doctor then followed him out into the parking lot, SHOVED HIM DOWN AND PUNCHED HIM!!!! My husband had to call 911!! This is 100% true.

I was involved in a terrible accident with a farm tractor back in January 2000. I had several broken vertebrae which required 2 spinal fusions over a period of 10 years. After my first fusion, I had severe debilitating low back and leg pain. I was referred to Dr. Burdine for pain management after I found that the doctor I WAS SEEING was only interested in giving me painkillers and epidural injections. Dr. Burdine evaluated me and suggessted I might be a candidate for an intrathecal drug delivery pump. I qualified and he operated on me, placing the small device right under my skin on my right side. A tiny iv tube attached to this miracle device was threaded directly into my spinal fluid where it would do me the most good. Igo approximately every 4 months to have my pump drained of old medication and refilled. Dr Burdine's P.A. Allison Walker is the one who refills my pump and I have never felt her, "little stick and a burn" as she calls it when she numbs my skin to empty my pump and refill it! The medical assistants and entire staff are wonderful, caring people. I am THRILLED to say that I have had NO PAIN WHATSOEVER in my lower back and leg for over 16 years! I have had to have the pump replaced twice because they do wear down, but it is an outpatient procedure with minimal pain.I am able to drive and live my life without the worry of medications that impair my ability to do what I want. I went to him two years ago and he did wonders for my back. I got off all of my pain pills. But I had my burn it only lasted like a year and a half, so I went went back to the office and got scheduled for another burn on May 28, 2019. The Friday before I was scheduled to get my first shot, they called me and told me there was something wrong with my Medicare and I couldn't get it done that day that they would take care of it. Well today is August 6, 2019. I have called several times, they have called me back but they leave no message on who I need to talk to so I have to start over and leave them another message, And another message and another message. Like I said the doctor is good but the people that work for him treat patients like their drug heads and they treat them with disrespect. His quality of care, compassion, wisdom, and knowledge, combine to make him literally the best doctor I have ever known.
