I have used American Chimney and Masonry twice in last five years. Five years ago I had them…read morerebuild my firebox on the fireplace. Their pricing was fair and they did an excellent job. Then a few months ago I needed an inspection of the fireplace for my HOA. Again their pricing was fair, they were punctual and did an excellent job. They are my go-to fireplace people. I recommend them highly!!

This is an amazing company. I had some water damage on a wall and I called the company that…read moreinstalled my roof. They then told me that the chimney needed a cap. I put a bid on Home Depot (rookie mistake) and had 2 contractors say I needed a cap that could be installed for $900. That didn't seem thorough so I called evolution chimney. They had a young man and his partner came out and they went in the basement and to the roof and told me all the work I needed done. They had to add a new and wide liner, fix the deteriorating staccato, ensured that there was no chance of carbon monoxide and of course the cap. It was well worth the investment. The first appointment I had there was a scheduling mishap so the woman that took my call offered to deploy an emergency weekend team but I opted to reschedule for the next week. The work was done in a few hours. I was worried about squirrels still getting into the attic so I put a metal trap up there but nothing has been in the attic since and no water seems to be coming through the wall. Highly recommend.

I was amazed it came so clean. Paul, the owner, got back to my request for an estimate the same day and the work was quickly scheduled and finished. The price was very fair for all the work involved. I wish every service I contract for would go this smoothly.

So the other day I receive one not two estimates that's confusing me one estimate for both projects when I specifically requested two different estimates and waited an inordinate amount of time with several requests to get the estimate and then the guy sends me an estimate for one price not splitting off the two different things. Then he mentions the wrong side of damage garage when I had several different areas of concern lack of attention to detail for sure. Mr. Riggs does not respond to text messages or phone messages. It's frustrating to deal with him. Unfortunately, I gave him a sample which I'm sure I'll never see back. I requested him to return my sample of stucco back to me, I would not deal with this company. They take too long and they require numerous nudges from the customer to receive a simple estimate and this is not even summertime when it's busy it's low season so don't deal with this company. I had bad vibes not worth it.

Jeremy picked up the project and was able to solve for the moisture trapped in the plaster walls. Having a 100+-year home is challenging and solutions aren't always direct. Jeremy and team stayed the course. The quality and craftsmanship of their work is exceptional. They have become a trusted resource when it comes to fixes and home improvements. Last year, they converted my claustrophobic 4X7 bathroom into something livable. I consulted with other contractors and even an architect on possible solutions for making the space feel more open and liked Jeremy's approach best. He listened to what I wanted and found a way to successfully make it work. IDS even referred to an outstanding electrician this summer to upgrade my home from 60 to 200 amps. Jeremy, Junior and Adan are a great team, making the experience of owning an older home manageable. I can't thank them enough for all their hard work and dedication.

They said it would take 1 week for them to send over the estimate. They've completely ghosted me for the last 2 months. I've sent three emails requesting updates on their estimate and no response. I'm disappointed that I took a day off from work to meet with their estimator, and now will need to get more quotes. IDS initially responded quickly to scheduling time to come out for the estimate on multistory porch rebuild, roof deck replacement and tuckpointing on my property in DC. They had asked about the scope of the work prior to coming out, so would have known if it was too small for their company. A simple "sorry we are too busy to take on the project" would be the minimum expected professional response from a real company.
