Hilton Garden Inn Indianapolis South/Greenwood - Guest room

We…read morespent some time waiting in the lobby bar area before the event started, which was a nice treat to sit and order a drink while waiting. The bartender was friendly and welcoming, though the whiskey sours we ordered weren't the best. Once the seminar began, we were guided into a room that was a decent size with tables set up comfortably for the group. Dinner was provided, and it was a taco bar. It was pretty average, but i was hungry. I did enjoy the chips and queso, and the white chocolate macadamia nut cookie was pretty good. The seminar itself lasted about two hours and was informative, so it felt like time well spent. This was my first time visiting, and overall the hotel made a good impression. I also noticed they have a nice outdoor patio area, which would be great to enjoy in better weather. Unfortunately, it was raining the day we visited. Still, it's a solid spot to keep in mind for events or even a future stay.

At approximately 8:45 a.m., nearly three hours before checkout, someone attempted to enter my hotel…read moreroom while my son and I were still inside. I heard a very faint knock, and as I approached the door to see who it was, the door began to open. I immediately yelled, "What are you doing?" The person quickly pulled the door shut. By the time I reached the door and looked through the peephole, I saw them hurrying down the hallway. As a woman traveling alone with a child who is on the autism spectrum, I found this extremely alarming. Guests should be able to feel secure in their rooms, particularly when they have not checked out and the room is still occupied. The incident raised serious concerns about privacy, room-access procedures, and whether staff are properly verifying occupancy before entering. Unfortunately, the response I received at the front desk made the situation worse. When I reported the incident to Stacy Milton, she was dismissive and rude. Rather than expressing concern or apologizing, she asked, "Did they actually enter your room?" She also stated that she did not know who the person was. That response did nothing to reassure me that the hotel knew which employees had accessed the floor or attempted to enter my room. When I said the incident needed to be addressed, her response was, "Why wouldn't I address it?" Her tone was defensive and unnecessarily confrontational. Because we needed to leave for the airport, I could not remain at the hotel to pursue the matter further. As I was leaving, I overheard her speaking to the general manager and complaining about our interaction rather than focusing on the serious safety concern I had just reported. Once I was in the Uber, I called the hotel and asked to speak with General Manager Sara Gabbard. I was told she had stepped out, and my call was transferred to voicemail. She has not returned my call. There were also several maintenance and cleanliness concerns during our stay. The hallway carpets appeared old and heavily soiled. The bathtub and shower combination had a noticeable weak or soft area in the center of the base, which felt unsafe and gave the impression of possible unaddressed damage. Taken together, these issues reflect serious failures in leadership, maintenance, staff training, cleanliness, guest service, and basic safety procedures. The most concerning part of this experience was not only that someone attempted to enter an occupied room, but that the hotel's response showed so little urgency, accountability, or empathy. This was an unacceptable and unsettling experience. I would not recommend this property to women traveling alone, families with special-needs children, or any guest who values privacy, cleanliness, safety, and professional hospitality.

The amenities are nice like the other Hilton's. Rooms are cleaned every other day, or as requested. Has a very nice large patio. Location is near restaurants and gas stations. The room itself was pretty rough from chipped paint and rough patch jobs the closet not having the safe for valuables - it looked as though it had been ripped out. The bedroom dresser drawers stuck when you tried to open and close them and the TV was wobbly on the bedroom dresser. This hotel has definitely gone from a 5 star to a 3 star in the last 3 years. Free coffee was bitter and weak. We have stayed here many time over last 3 years to visit family when we come to Indianapolis and this was probably our last stay. Shower floor felt as though you might fall through it with as loud and creaky as it was when you stepped into to take a shower. I forgot to mention this was was room 433 on the 4th floor. It was clean and staff seemed pleasant but the room itself left a lot to be desired and definitely needs some TLC.

The pool is a hit with them, the water pressure and great beds are for me and my spouse. Usually clean and well kept. We got a pet friendly room and wasn't pleased with the stained bedspread, hair in the shower, dirt on the air conditioner, multiple rewards needed. 2 bath towels, 2 wash towels and 1 hand towel for 4 people. The pics say it all. We have woke the morning of check out to a lady knocking on our door at 9 AM saying this was her room. About 20 minutes after that, we received another knock on our door and the cleaning staff said they were sent down to clean our room, and I told them we would check out at 11 AM. When I did check out the front desk clerk told me that it was her that knocked on the door the first time because someone had given them our room number as check out. But it infuriated me that I had to go down and ask why people were trying to get our room before we were checked out. A phone call to our room would have been more appropriate. The front desk person on check in was excellent, friendly and professional, and I will say the front desk clerk the morning of check out apologize for interrupting us the morning of check out. I'm not so sure we will stay here again, they really need to work on their cleanliness and repairs. Breakfast is great. The kids enjoyed the pool as did eight others the night before, so if you don't like screaming kids, this is not the place for you to stay. Great location lots of restaurants, gas stations, and shopping nearby.

One drawback I noticed was the parking--during busy times, the lot feels pretty small, and it took me a bit to find a spot on the property. Customer service, however, was wonderful. Every staff member I interacted with was friendly and welcoming. Our room was very nice and clearly designed with business travelers in mind. It featured a small area with a sink and microwave, a comfortable couch, a desk, a large flat-screen TV, a king-size bed, and a spacious bathroom with a walk-in shower. Everything was clean, cozy, and modern, and the room temperature was easy to adjust. I was looking forward to use the heated indoor pool as advertised, but when I checked it out, it was not so heated so I decided to pass on that. The complimentary breakfast was a standout. They offered plenty of options--oatmeal with toppings, cereal, boiled and scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, bacon, and a drink station. The waffle maker even presses a Hampton Inn logo into the waffle, which I loved. The orange juice and strawberry-kiwi infused water were really refreshing, and the coffee bar had several choices. They have an inviting dining area with ample seating. At checkout, I noticed brown bags at the front desk. When I asked, the staff let me know they were complimentary "to-go" bags and encouraged me to take one. Inside was a bottle of water, an apple, and a bagel with cream cheese--a thoughtful touch that shows they truly cater to guests on the move. Overall, a comfortable and pleasant stay with great amenities. I'd definitely return.

Quick welcoming check-in, new, clean, comfortable beds and close to everything. 5 stars for sure!read more
