I was calling EVERYWHERE and was not getting a call back. In fact, people were turning us away. I went to the Better Business Bureau and I found Mark Steven Construction. I called and left a message, and Mark himself contacted me back straight away. Off the bat he was extremely communicative and honest. Aside from insurance related repairs (which was truly gutting the whole interior) he also helped us with some upgrades we decided to do at the same time. I found it invaluable that never at any point did we feel taken advantage of during a very hard time. In fact, Mark gave us great advice on how to save and reassured me through the whole process. He took our ideas, and often made them better. If there was something structurally that couldn't be done without a high ticket price, he offered reasonable alternatives. From putting in a doggy door to going out of his way to find us a fabricator to get our granite in on time (during a pandemic!) he was great. I'm sure he has my name in his phone as "lady who texts a lot" and not once did he every get bothered by my questions. While he does not exclusively work on insurance claims, it's worth noting he has tons of knowledge on them as well and helped us understand that process. His team members were extremely polite and always greeted me with a smile and an update if I popped into the house. I trusted them all completely with our space. We are so happy that we found Mark Steven Construction, and without hesitation will tell others to use his business as well!

According to the contract and Californa statute I was to have received my $600 deposit by 8/25 or 8/26. Ivave not received any payment as of today 9/1. When I spoke with the salesperson (Jennifer Butros) she denied any involvement even though sphe signed contract. She placed blaim on "accounting" but made attempts to help, only referring me. She gave me the number of Oscar who upon talking to came out fairly quickly to look at the job. The price was pretty competitive and I gave him the go ahead to start the job ASAP. I paid him The 50% down on the spot and he scheduled me in. The job was completed in under a week and he was again paid IMMEDIATELY upon completion. This job was completed December of 2018. In April of 2019 I got a notice from my HOA that I had put turf in without permission and I needed to bring them a sample of the turf and drop off an application I order to avoid a $200/month fine. I reached out to Oscar so that I could obtain a sample and could not get ahold of him. I left him Voicemails until his inbox was full and texted him numerous times. I have since spoken to a Oscar who blatantly lied and said he dropped a sample on my front porch and someone must have taken it and that he would send another. Again nothing ever showed up. I have delayed the fines from HOA as long as I could but have accumulated $400 in fines at this point. As of last Friday 9/6 I threatened a report to the Better Business Bureau. Of course I immediately get a response from that and he says he talked to manufacture and they are sending a sample. It's been 8 days and still no sample. It's obvious he's completely full of BS. He wants to make his money but as soon as he's paid he doesn't care AT ALL. Worst customer service. Do not give someone like this the business. Greedy and shady. Go with a reputable company that has great customer service.
