Before finding Rock Solid, I actually hired another concrete contractor because their quote was a little cheaper and they had decent reviews. Unfortunately, that decision ended up costing me time and frustration. The contractor never came out to look at the site beforehand and relied only on a photo I sent. When the slab was poured, it ended up several inches out of square and badly sloped, which made it completely unusable for placing a shed on top of it. Thankfully I was able to get my money back and have it removed, but the whole experience reinforced something many homeowners learn the hard way: the cheapest quote is rarely the best value. That's when I reached out to Charlie at Rock Solid Concrete, and the difference was obvious right away. Charlie came out in person to survey the site, explain the grading and prep work needed, and walk me through exactly how they would make sure the slab was square, level, and reinforced with rebar since it would support a structure. On the day of the project, Charlie was involved from start to finish. He checked measurements, supervised the crew, and sent photos and updates throughout the process so I could see each stage -- from forming and rebar placement to the final finish. The professionalism stood out. The crew respected the property, kept the area clean, and worked efficiently. Once everything cured, I checked the slab with a level and it is perfectly square and perfectly level, exactly what you want when placing a shed or structure on top. Charlie clearly takes pride in his work and treats every job as if it were on his own property. He returned my initial call in a short period of time and discussed what it was I was looking for and we set up a time that evening for him to stop by and see what he would be working with. 1. When he came to the house, he was on time. 2. He asked some great questions and thoroughly understood what I was looking to achieve. 3. He took photos of the previous work we were trying to match and later took great strides to get the right product by speaking with several supply stores to understand the correct manufacturer, color (Native .vs Territorial) of paver, and to also find someone with readily available product. Preach was 6 weeks out, his supplier was 6 days. 4. I had a quote sent to me about 90 minutes later. He was within budget and competitive. The other guys... well one gave me a verbal quote and did not come by and the third bidder forgot we had a meeting the next day and called me later to reschedule. No thanks. 5. On the job, he showed up when he said that he would. The one day he could not come, I was called by 7:00 AM to let me know what was happening. For the entire time he was on the job, I knew what he was doing and what to expect. In the 2.5 years here in AZ, I have never had communications like this from other firms on anything. 6. He cleaned up every night, He used tarps in the street to put the excavated dirt on and left no remnants of dirt or stray rocks behind. 7. The job is perfect! He even fixed two other places in my original walkway where the pattern had been driving me crazy and the ground had sunk leaving a rather noticeable dip. I do not write many reviews, but wanted to on this project as we are so pleased with the entire experience. He and his team were extremely polite, pleasant to work with, and no drama. I will hire Eli and his team for other work around my home.
