This health centre contains three different practices in one. While the doctors are nice and…read morefriendly, I have a few issues with it in regards to the waiting times they have for appointments. It has, in the past, taken me over a week to get an appointment, which is particularly ridiculous especially if you are ill. However, having said that, if you are in need of an emergency appointment they will try their hardest to see you that day. Nevertheless, I have never waited under 15 minutes to see the actual doctor each time I am in there, which makes it a slightly more stressful and frustrating visit. Hopefully the new practice will be a bit more efficient.

During that time I had several occasions to use the…read morehealth center and there was only one doctor that was every helpful, the others that I saw just seemed to palm me off and gave the impression as a student I was wasting their time. The waiting time for appointments was very long due to the number of people they support but frequently the appointments over ran and it was not unusual to still be sitting 40 mins after your appointment time. When I left St Andrews they also lost my notes which was quite annoying too. All in all one of the poorest health centers I have been too.

With some of the other ones I do not feel like I am taken seriously and while I appreciate they must see a massive selection of people I do not often go to the doctors unless I feel it to be that serious. Seeing some types of doctors really puts me off going and although that helps them out it does not help me much. Di Mascio keeps me having some faith in GP's!

I have to say that, as far as the doctors themselves go, they are lovely people, extremely friendly and personable and really nice to meet and talk to. However, sometimes the reception staff can be a little short, and do not make the experience of going to visit the doctor any easier. Also, waiting times are often ridiculous. It is near impossible to get an appointment when you would like one, and when you do manage to get one, I have not waited for less than half an hour past my allotted time each time I have gone.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Tried to get an emergency appointment for my friend today with…read moreextreme problems with self harm and suicidal thoughts. The first emergency appointment they can give is 5pm. Asked if I should take him to the hospital or try NHS24 instead and told no, I have to go via the GP, WHO WONT SEE HIM FOR 5 HOURS. Triage nurse was very rude, my skills and experience have been ignored. I have been patronized and treated inhumanely. All my friend needed was the correct amount of anti-anxiety medication to get through until he goes to residential care in 3 days time where they can then provide the medication they need, and they can't even do that. I was provided more of the exact same medication for anxiety for a 1 hour flight 6 months ago, than he has been provided. I now am having panic and anxiety after being treated so badly for trying to get my friend the help hes paid his taxes for years for and is entitled to. I have no idea how I'm going to get my friend through the next four hours and I'm scared he's going to be yet another NHS failure statistic and he might hurt himself so bad that he dies. Sorry for the rant. Will end this not even mentioning the full story behind how my friend has been allowed by this surgery to get to this state over the last 4 years when he's asked for help over and over again. DO NOT RISK YOUR HEALTH BY USING THIS SURGERY. DON'T ONLY TRUST ME, READ THE OTHER REVIEWS. I am pursuing a complaint via the NHS complaints commission and will update.
