I had a really positive eye exam here a week ago after being years overdue for an eye exam. I tend to drag my feet on the self care/health department (no hair cut in over a year...anyone?) but I had heard great things about Invista Optical from a friend and it didn't hurt that they're conveniently located one mile from my house. I was able to easily schedule my appointment over the phone after a few rounds of phone tag and found a lovely appointment at the end of the day on a Friday to make for easy work scheduling. All three of the staff I encountered were professional and answered my questions about COVID safety precautions and cleaning processes. They also took my temperature upon entry. This particular visit was just for an eye exam but it's worth noting that they have a fun lineup of prescription (and non) sunglasses and glasses. Invista Optical is conveniently located a little over a block from the Cultural Trail and Mass Ave action making it especially handy for downtown dwellers and employees. Would recommend! read more

Invista is a remarkable small business that has set the bar incredibly high for all optometrists. After one visit here, I don't think you'll ever be pleased by another. Everything is incredibly well thought out and extremely customer-centric, to the point that it is worthy of a case study. If you own your own small business you should totally book an appointment here and take notes, probably better than any MBA case study. I've grown accustomed to old school shops that have definitely grown complacent, Invista is the Tesla / Apple experience of Indianapolis optometry. Service - WHITE GLOVE. If you are used to complacent country club optometrists that are just milking their practices for cash by fleecing you & your insurance companies, this place is very refreshing. Dr. Jahnke and her team run a tight ship and really try to teach you about your eyes. They really care about each customer. Each exam is ran with a great deal of transparency, efficiency and the latest tools (more details below). With each exam, there is an explanation of what is being tested, a quick summary of results and also as much detail as you'd like. It's not a simple "your eyes are healthy". Everyone that works here is well put together (young & trendy), extremely sociable/articulate and seems to really enjoy their jobs. My prescription was also extremely personalized & tiered by cost/value, with NO UPSELL. This was mind blowing! For my contact lenses, I was offered a range of options which Dr. Jahnke broke down in analogies by cars. She explained to me that my contacts were somewhat obsolete with no silicon content & that they were the equivalent of driving a Kia when I could be driving a Tesla for a nominal premium. There was no pressure to buy contacts or glasses from the store, but I will probably end up getting my contacts from them. Efficiency - STREAMLINED. It was almost like watching "The Founder" where the McDonald brothers orchestrate the first McDonald's kitchen as a symphony. Each associate focuses on a narrow scope of duties. I walked in 15 minutes early, was given a clipboard at reception that took no longer than 5 minutes to complete. She got a copy of my insurance and license while I filled out the forms. Within 5 minutes a second associate was running me through all the tests in a room that housed all the big machines. After about 10 minutes I was taken to another room where Doctor Jahnke reviewed the charts with me, tested pressure etc. and cycled through the actual vision tests. This lasted for about 10 minutes & then she had me go to a third room where we tried on contacts. There was ANOTHER hand off at the final station where an associate managed payment and prescriptions. Technology - CUTTING EDGE. This shop is brand spankin' new & owner operated by a younger optometrist. As you'd expect, she equipped the joint with the latest and greatest. The machines all looked & sounded modern with housing that had no signs of age. Their visual field test (to test your peripheral vision by clicking when you see squiggles) had a very clear objective which made it easy to discern & minimize false positives. The team gives you a printout that shows you results & also shows you the on-screen blown up digital scans of your eye. The huge contraption that houses lenses to determine your vision is very modern & made it really easy to nail down your prescription with no "guessing". Location - AMAZING. Like any brick and mortar business, location is crucial. This storefront sits on the northwestern corner of College & Michigan. The shop is within walking distance of all Mass Ave. residents & has plenty of adjacent street parking. For anyone taking the interstate, its only a few blocks off the 65/70 exit. The store front is highly visible for downtown drivers, with the best retail exposure of Lockerbie Lofts. Anyone who takes College northbound will always see it at the Michigan traffic light. Interior - ELEGANT. I got to my appointment early and sat down in the waiting area. I honestly felt like I was sitting in a Restoration Hardware "design gallery". There was not a single piece of decor that did not fit & it had a vibrant rustic chic theme throughout. The entire south side of the shop has huge windows & gets plenty of natural light with no opposing high rises. Amenities - DELIGHTFUL. Your wait time, if any is extremely pleasant. They have a Keurig with good mugs. They also have a well stocked mini fridge with flavored sparkling water if you're as basic as me. On your way out, the doctor gives you a complimentary set of rolled up sunglasses to help mitigate the effects of pupil dilation (even when I declined initially) she really has all her bases covered! Follow-up - CONVENIENT. You don't get any awkward calls or annoying emails. They send you a confirmation text. When you fill out your paperwork they also ask you to fill out a post card that they use as a mailer / reminder notice of your next appointment. read more

i feel so lucky to have found this place! i have tried three different my eye dr places in the past, and my concerns were dismissed and not taken seriously at all of them. this place was recommended to me by a colleague so i decided to try it out. i got plenty of reminder texts which i appreciated! the intake form was the most thorough i had seen, helping me and her learn about my families history. when i told her my concerns, she did extra testing to help figure it out. she explained everything and was so helpful throughout the visit. the salesperson tim was also super helpful in finding frames that fit my face/style, and in telling me what options for lenses would fit in my budget. the appointment was a little bit more expensive compared to my eye dr, but it was worth every penny as just one appointment answered questions i've had for 4-5 years! i highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an eye doctor read more

Needed to choose an optometrist in the Indy area after I moved and I loved how convenient Invista is. I was able to get in the same week for an appointment due to a cancellation. It was a great, smooth annual exam -- Dr. Jahnke set me up with a new contact prescription that better fits my lifestyle and was very educational through the exam, letting me know what she was checking during each step. I also had my first dilation and she made sure it was painless. I even got a $50 rebate from my contacts that will just come in the mail, no work required on my part. I didn't purchase any glasses but the selection looked trendy and beautiful! I will be back to Invista for all my future eye-related visits. read more

It's unfortunate that I have to write this review. I had an appointment scheduled for my annual eye exam and it was cancelled via text. Ive been a patient at this place for 3yrs. I scheduled time off to attend this appointment before starting a new job where I know I will not be able to take time off for a while. I called and spoke with the owner who explained that since I hadn't responded to texts within a certain timeframe they cancelled my appointment. She also mentioned that since I responded to texts in the past they assumed I wouldn't show because "people" do that all the time and they have a waitlist of people to fill the appointment slots. Note: I always reschedule when needed (I called to do a possible reschedule for this exact appointment but found out I did need to). During this call that I made the next morning after receiving the texts after 5pm the day before, the owner also mentioned that they filled my appointment slot with someone else from their waitlist. I honestly hadn't responded because I have been working extremely long hours and forgot. I never received one phone call as a check-in before they actually canceled, which is what I would've appreciated. The owner was not empathetic at all, there was no apology for not attempting to reach out via phone call before canceling even given that I usually call to reschedule if needed or respond to texts. I would have appreciated a call and some empathy after explaining why I hadn't responded and after informing her that as a business owner she should be more empathetic she just told me she could reschedule me! The text for me to reschedule or cancel was sent during work hours and was also confusing saying to confirm by 4pm or it's canceled, then we look forward to seeing you, and then it's cancelled. Recently moved to Mass Ave and wanted a close place where I could get my annual eye check-up. I found InVista Optical and decided to give it a chance, since it's walking distance from my apartment. I'm so glad I did. I can only say great things about my experience here. Dr. Till, Brooke and Riley are THE BEST! All 3 of them made my experience so wonderful! Riley did all of my preliminary testing and immediately made me feel super comfortable being in a new office around people I've never met before. I came in wanting to try out contacts (which is harder to get used to when you're 26 and have never touched your own eyeball before) and Dr. Till and Brooke were SO patient with me when I was practicing how to take them in and out. They answered all of my questions and made sure I felt confident with my new contacts, before I left. If you're looking for an optometrist, I would highly recommend this place!! I was looking for a eye doctor closer home and was recommended this place by a coworker. Such a trendy looking office and the staff is very welcoming. When I walked I was the only one there and I was able to get right in. The testing process was pretty quick and then I went into the office with the doctor. Dr. Jahnke was so friendly and knowledgeable. She talked me through the whole process and was honest about not necessarily needing a new pair of glasses. Once the standard tests were done I checked out the glasses they offered as my eyes were dilating. They offer really unique glasses and were so helpful in pointing some out that I may like. I was blown away by how comprehensive this clinic was! I have poor eyesight and am cautious with who I entrust my eye care to because of it. However, the doctor not only examined me but explained to me with pictures what she was seeing and why she was/was not concerned. The options for glasses frames are also so much fun! Simply excellent. Dr.Jahnke and Brooke did an awesome job yesterday! This was my very first visit and now I'm hooked. The doctor did a thorough exam and I was able to choose some cool glasses, which are of course the two most important things. But beyond that, the whole visit was wonderful actually: she was patient and kind throughout the exam; Brooke was super helpful in finding me the perfect pair of glasses and sunglasses (there or at least a half dozen I really really liked); and the office was modern and comfortable. To top it all off, the price for everything was surprisingly a few hundred bucks LESS than what I paid the last 2 years at my previous spot! I pick up the finished glasses in 7 to 10 days, so stay tuned for an update! read more

They worked with me to identify and monitor inflammation in one of my eyes due to ill-fitting contacts and I got sized to get better fitting contacts. Staff was friendly and quick with my eye examination. Dr. John was very helpful and efficient. Great visual atmosphere of the place. They have parking or you can park on the side of the street where parking is allowed. Only thing I did not like was the receptionist being pushy about the Health Wellness Exam, which is optional. If I come inside for an eye exam, that's all I want for the time being. Other than that, had a great experience there. My insurance worked great with them and they even had a rebate for my contact lenses. read more

This place gets it. Not only is this place friendly, but they care. I'm not a big fan of the "name brand" eyewear that you see everywhere and this place carries brands I have never heard of. That caught my eye first! I have never been more happy with a pair of frames in over 20 years of wearing glasses. And this was probably the easiest. They were in net work with my insurance and guided me through all that so there was no guess work, they did all the math and figures for me and I was surprised to come in under budget that a couple days later I had them get me sunglasses too. I had some picked out elsewhere but they were so enjoyable that I really wanted them to help me! Dr. Till was also amazing at listening to my needs and concerns with my eyes and my health. I've had pretty bad experiences with doctors in the past but felt very at ease working with him and the whole team! Would recommend tenfold! read more

Invista defiantly is in tune with what the latest and greatest brands. They are also quite in tune with what is in style. I recently purchased my glasses from Invista and was so pleased with the quality and customer service. Although I didn't see their eye doc, they had no problem making a few calls and getting my prescription faxed over. I just had a great experience here! It was my first time in, and I just needed a yearly eye exam and updated prescription. I was switching optometrists and I was a little nervous (I had been with my last optometrist for 17 years). Scheduling was very easy. When I first got there and filled out some forms, they went through each cost, line by line, I was going to be charged for. I can't even tell you how much I appreciate that. So there weren't any hidden fees or questions at the end of my appointment. During my appointment, everyone was extremely nice. I had so many questions I never could ask at my last place (I was always rushed through), and Dr. Jahnke answered every single one of them. She never made me feel stupid, she never rushed me, and she was very kind. I didn't have time to look at frames that day, but I will be back soon to try some on. (They look really cute and definitely my style.) Also, this office has a *great* vibe and cute decor. I never felt like I was in a dated, stuffy office. I am actually looking forward to going back again. :) Update: **Only gave them four stars because they will not measure or give you your PD (pupillary distance) unless you order glasses specifically from them. So if you want to order glasses online (or anywhere else, really), you're out of luck. This is the first place I've ever seen do this. read more

Great service and a good selection. Moderate to high price for the frames but reasonable for the brands they offered. We came in with a Rx so we didn't need the eye exam services. Dr. Jahnke and her staff are great! I always try to write a review when I interact with a business that goes above and beyond -- and they definitely do! Starting with the atmosphere - it is really comfortable, clean, and beautifully designed. Not to mention the location is great if you live in Mass Ave / Chatham Arch / Lockerbie / Downtown. My interaction with Brooke was great and she is very friendly - she gathered my family history and made everything super easy. Although my appointment was not for glasses, I did notice their selection. Very cute frames and a lot to choose from. I would like to return for a pair of glasses. My appointment was for a cut on my eye - Dr. Jahnke was so incredibly gentle with the "minor procedure" she had to do, and I feel a lot better already. I highly recommend them! read more
