I am in my seventies and an have worn glasses since 4th grade and gone through numeral eye exams, I must say this time was the best. Although the exams was very good, the service was very poor. When ordering my glasses I was told that I would receive a summary of my exam via email. That never happened. I only received the summary after I contacted my eye care person. It took several days after that for me get my summary. I was told my glasses would be in in 2 weeks, but they were not. After 3 weeks I called inquiring about the glasses. I was put on hold and waited for some time. The person came back to the phone and asked me for some personal information, and I was put on hold again. That person came back and let me know that my glasses were in and told me the they had not been displayed yet. I asked her how long that had been at the shop she implied, for some time. In short I think Progressive's service people need to step up to where their Optometrists are.

I wasn't even a patient of theirs, and they adjusted my glasses for free (and with a smile). So I told myself that when I needed an eye checkup and to buy some new specs, I'd go here. Cut to months later. I visited to get an annual eye exam and look for glasses. The optometrist I saw, Dr. Fiechter, was SO professional and nice, and took the time to explain the intricacies of my eye health to me -- no eye doctor had ever done that before. She even showed me images of the back of my eye, and explained what we were looking at. She wasn't just going through the motions. I wasn't planning on getting my eyeglasses here, but this place has so many different brands and styles of glasses that I ended up finding the perfect pair here. My glasses were ready a whole week earlier than scheduled, which was just perfect. I can't recommend Progressive Eyecare and Eyewear enough!

Anyways, I was able to get into seeing Dr. Amy Iddins within a few days. The scheduling was incredibly easy and direct. All of this was very important to me- I've had emergency eye surgery for a rare glaucoma and I don't take lightly who I see for my eyes! The office staff were incredibly friendly and a pleasure to see! The technology they've invested in is fantastic. The Dr. was excellent! She listened, gave great advise (saving me from future trauma even), and then went above and beyond to order me trial contact lenses- What I absolutely loved was not only that the service and care was wonderful, but I got those trials in exactly a week and all I needed to do was swing by and pick them up. I was in and out within 30 minutes, with clear expectations of when to expect my glasses I was also able to call back in the office to have a team member help update an invoice for me so I could submit to my FSA - this was done over the phone, and she immediately offered solutions instead of excuses.

While getting excellent eye care and answers, they don't mind lots of talking or even if something said does not come out just right, they are good with people just being people. This creates an environment that is hard to find these days, leaving you feeling amazing afterward and inspired to keep it going in your next environment. I don't know how their prices compare but I do know using my glasses and contacts reminds me of really great people that I am grateful to interact with. Also Dr. Avila, who advises me, has always given great advice and has been one of the best doctors I have ever worked with.

I didn't want to go to urgent care so decided to just call my optometrist to see if I could get in today. I called at 614p on a holiday (observing for the 4th). He called me back at 617p. I did not at all anticipate hearing from him until today sometime. I was totally shocked! We talked about what was happening and he told me he could see me (HA! Pun intended) in the morning before his first patient. Bless his entire heart. Got everything squared away and was good to go before by 8a. He didn't even ask for my insurance info or charge for the quick visit. I've been seeing Dr. Hemingway for at least 5 years now and he is just so wonderful. This little story is just an example of how he places his patients first. He is just so kind, easy-going, and very thorough. He is the only optometrist in his practice. Obviously locally owned and operated! I can't say more wonderful things about Dr. Hemingway and Indy Eye. I highly recommend.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE OF ALL TIME!!…read more WOULD GIVE 0 STARS IF POSSIBLE!!! I recently had an incredibly disappointing experience at Eyeglass World that I feel compelled to share. I brought a friend's pair of glasses to their store for repairs, trusting their supposed expertise. They assured me they could fix them, but instead, the glasses were broken by one of their employees. To make matters worse, the employee giggled and said, "I'm sorry, super glue is now your best friend," without offering any compensation or a proper apology. Taking my grievance to corporate seemed like the right move, so I did, but a few days later, the store manager's response was equally frustrating. Instead of compensating for the glasses their employee broke, she offered to cover the cost of an eye exam and insisted we pay regular prices for new glasses, with a buy-one-get-one promotion that's already available to the public. When I expressed my frustration and argued that I shouldn't have to pay for glasses they broke, the manager coldly replied that comping the glasses or the eye exam was against company policy. She said I could either accept the eye exam or receive nothing at all. It's against company policy, yet she offers me one anyway; she can do both. This blatant disregard for their responsibility was appalling to me. The situation was made worse by the manager's attitude, rudeness, unprofessionalism, and flat-out dishonesty. She claimed that her employee had warned me about the risk of breaking the glasses, which was an outright lie. If I had been informed of any risk, I would have taken them elsewhere for repair. When I asked for proof of their supposed terms of service acceptance, she caught an attitude and lied through her teeth about having video evidence and refused to show it. She then contradicted herself by saying customer service, not she, reviewed the footage. This experience has shown me that Eyeglass World is not only unprofessional but also deceitful. They failed to take responsibility for their mistake, lied about the circumstances, and treated a loyal customer with utter disrespect. I will never trust or recommend Eyeglass World to anyone. They are a complete disgrace and a huge disappointment. Avoid this place at all costs!

I just now started wearing my glasses because where I work I wore my old I could still see out of them and I need them more to read than to see. sorry it's my mistake because I didn't wear my new glasses for a couple of months until I lost my old ones and I tell you they are horrible. ***update*** Today I…read morewent for my final check-up and to go back to my fav contact lens. We did a full regular eye exam after. The nurses told me about taking pictures of my retina but that's on top of the regular eye exam. I thought I didn't need it since I was young so I declined to pay $40 or something. There was no negative feeling from the nurse at all. Then I had the check-up with the doctor. Conversation flowed nicely. Again I didn't feel rushed nor did I feel like the doctor was more interested to talk then to check my eye. The eye exam itself went by efficiently. Then she asked me if I had any other injuries. I said yes, I think there was a scar at the back of my eye. She then told me it's better for her to look at my eye with the retina picture (I think that's what it was called) because she wants to make sure my vision is fine. However she told me there will be no charge. THIS IS A DOCTOR THAT CARES ALOT MORE ABOUT HER PATIENTS than money. Because she's worried & insisted on seeing it, she does not want a $40 to stand in the way. I'm so glad I found her & her clinic when my eyes are in distress. I cannot say enough good things about this doctor & the staff. I came in with extreme eye pain & was very freaked out & scared. The staff there was very understanding, efficient & nice. The form was filled out quickly & we waited for about 15min or so. Then the nurse came in, lead us to a room & wrote down my symptoms. I didn't feel rushed or being questioned too much. Then 5 min later, dr.Burford came in. She was very gentle but firm when she put in eye drops for me. Told me what it was for, & explained everything thoroughly. Then she took careful & thorough look at my eye. After she told me I had 70% cornea abrasion, & assured me it would heal in 3-4 days. Talked in a way that made my worries go away, & reassured me that I would still be able to see. Then she wanted to see me for follow-up after, but my husband works & no one can drive me. Her staff gave me a call the next day, asked how I was doing & even offered to pick me up for my follow up. I thought it got better, so I didn't want to trouble them. Then in the afternoon it began hurting again. So I sent her a message, and she saw me after hours. And she said she wants to see the next day too even if it's after they close to make sure we catch any sign of an infection early. She's just so kind & understanding, and just very responsible as a doctor. I'm so lucky I found her on Yelp.
