Been here multiple times and overall am a fan. Tasty ramen, good service, consistent through the many times I have gotten takeout and dine in service over the last few years. I enjoy their ramen with tasty soup bases and chewy noodles as well as the donburi rice bowls. Tempura is pretty good too. Prices have gone up in last year but so has everywhere so can't fault them. In comparison to other ramen shops, this is a neighbourhood winner and solid choice. read more

I've driven by this place a lot and decided to stop in tonight. They're open for dine-in again, very nice setup and attentive service. The ramen broth is a 12-hr pork broth with no MSG and so delicious. I ordered the Miso ramen and my partner got the Black Knight (great for all you garlic lovers). You get the whole egg vs. half egg, tender meat, and tasty egg noodles. We also ordered the pan-fried gyoza, but would do deep fried next time. This was my first time at Ippon Ramen and I would definitely come back again! I went with my friends for lunch and it was not busy at all. Service was great as well as the food. I ordered their kaarage ramen and it was truly delicious. I love how they separated the chicken from the ramen because at some ramen places they usually just put the chicken on top and it becomes soggy later on. Ordered the Ippon Beef ramen on Boxing Day. Asked for no eggs cause I'm not a fan. The order took over an hour but I don't know it that was on Ippon's end or Skip the Dishes. Either way, when it arrived it was still warm. The noodles were nice and springy, not too thick. The broth was savory, but not salty. I noticed on Ippon's IG they mention the broth doesn't have any MSG, salt, chicken powder etc which is really great but I feel like it was lacking a little bit of salt. That being said with ramen it's either way too salty (I'm looking at you, Sansotei) or not salty enough. The beef was thinly sliced and had some onion mixed in similar to what you would get in a gyudon. Still, this was delicious and considering there are no other decent options for ramen in Durham, I will definitely go to Ippon again! read more

This is rating their specialty drinks as we didn't eat any ramen or apps to rate this accordingly. We tried the Dirty Series Taro w/ Coconut w/ jelly- $6.95...To make it large extra $1.75 = close to $10 for this drink. While it did look nicely coloured and staff is friendly, this drink did feel a bit underwhelming. It tasted quite milky and taro I wasn't sure if its fresh or powdered... I guess next time we'll try the food to properly rate this place. After all it is a ramen shop and not a BBT place lol read more

One of the few Ramen options in Durham and they have delicious varieties, including a build-your-own bowl to customize your choices. Food can take some time to prepare in dine-in, around 20 minutes. The fried chicken appetizer is also the protein that comes in your bowl when you choose 'chicken'. It's not the best as it's filled with fat and is pretty greasy. But the ramen itself is great. Usually the water cups and utensils aren't the cleanest and have strong smells to them. Especially during the pandemic, it's disappointing that they're not as thorough here. We were in the area and decided to give this new restaurant a try. It's hard to find Asian food east of the city that is good. I ordered the Red Knight Ramen which is made with their own in house spicy sauce; it's a mix of sweet and spicy, and gives just the perfect kick to your meal (not overly spicy). We also ordered appetizers to share and drinks, but unfortunately I forgot to take pictures . Overall, I was very happy with my meal; usually after eating at other Ramen establishments, I find myself very thirsty due to all the salt added to the broth, I did not have this after eating here ! Ordered for takeout by calling in directly. We got the Red Knight and the Black Knight ramen with a side of Takoyaki. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised with how good the Red knight ramen tasted. Just as good as the other ramen places I frequent downtown. So flavourful with a good kick of spiciness. The Black Knight ramen had a really strong bitterness to it from the garlic. A bit too much for my taste, compared to other places that offer similar dishes. The takoyaki was really good too. The food was well packaged. The noodles and toppings were separated from the broth so all you needed to do was heat up the broth if it got too cold on the way home and then pour over the noodles to eat. Really packed full of that umami flavour you look for in a ramen broth. The noodles were cooked perfectly and have that great chewy texture. This little gem is hidden away in a strip mall. When the wife and I walked in, we weren't sure what to expect especially a ramen shop in Whitby. Oh boy, this place delivered and the service was courteous and friendly. I got the red knight ramen and she got the karagge ramen. Everything was bursting with flavour and to top it off, we got the gyoza. Our server told us that the owner spent a year in Japan to learn the proper, traditional way of cooking Ramen and all I have to say is WOW! Probably one of the best ramen places in Durham Region. I have tried Kenzo ramen in Oshawa and downtown Toronto - the Oshawa location is okay ... I much prefer Ippon Ramen. Black tonkatsu is really tasty and the Shoyu is good as well, but I like the garlic flavour of the black oil. They could use a few more toppings on the menu but other than that I was very happy!!! read more
