Ended up finding this place on a whim while searching for a nearby ramen restaurant. The exterior doesn't immediately stand out to anyone passing by but it makes up for that with interior décor. The interior was beautiful. It had a very clean, modern Japanese vibe and it was pretty spacious, considering where it is located. The lights (bear with me, I have an odd fascination with lights) were this really cool lantern shape and there were flat, round circle ornaments placed around them which really stood out to me. The service was super quick we were able to choose our own table and our order's were taken quickly. The staff was super friendly and very pleasant and they brought out our food in a timely manner. Now the food itself? Very yummy. I ordered the curry chicken cutlet and it was pretty good. However, my boyfriend ordered the Red Knight ramen and he found it to be pretty average. So I think the taste might be up to you, depending on your past experiences with ramen. Now back to the curry: it was sweet, as Japanese curry usually is, but it also had good flavour so it wasn't like, sickeningly sweet. I honestly really enjoyed it. Overall, a cute little place to go on a date or just to stop by if you're in the area!

    Karrage Ramen - $14.99, Black Knight - $14.99

The food was priced reasonably and comparable to other ramen places. There are also rice dishes available for those not looking for a soup meal. My group was able to sample a good variety. I personally ordered their Karrage Ramen ($14.99) to be able to sample their ramen as well as the karrage. The other orders we had were the Black Knight ($14.99), Beef Ramen, and Karrage Don. We also had a side order of chicken karrage which came with a mayo dip. (The Karrage Ramen just came with 2 pieces and without any sauce dips). There are no complains about the food taste and food value. Our server was also helpful and courteous. The place was clean. Something noteworthy with the restaurant was that they have a food challenge available. The Super Bowl Challenge was finishing a big bowl (about 4 bowl servings) in under 9 mins. It is priced at $38.88, but you get it for free + the next meal bill ($77.70) on the house if you can finish the challenge. I was so close to daring myself to try the challenge, but decided otherwise and just ordered a single ramen bowl to get a better sense of how much a serving size will be. We came in for lunch a little after 1:15 PM on a Friday. It was moderately busy with about a third or fourth of the seats occupied. There was a TV turned on and playing some English language pop songs on shuffle. I sort of wished the music was tuned it to something Japanese or anime so at least to get a better immersion of the Japanese theme of the restaurant.

I am extremely excited that a authentic ramen spot opened up here in Newmarket! (Don't argue with me and say that the hop bop mess on Main Street can compare) This place is extremely clean, has a really pretty and minimalist aesthetic and hosts a lot of tables with a bunch of booths. We were greeted right away and our servers were efficient and friendly the whole time! They have a large menu; even some bubble teas that I'd like to give a go next time. We had takkoyaki - hot, delicious and biggg. I had the black knight (black garlic with chasiu, egg, seaweed) and bf had the ippon miso. Both were delicious and came in large portions! The soup was amazing (made in house fresh) and not at all oily. Usually I don't love ramen because my stomach starts hurting at the first sign of grease but I didn't have that issue here at all. Instead, it was savoury, filling and extremely satiating. The pork was soft and the ramen egg was runny to perfection. I slurped it up like a monster lol! They also have this super ramen bowl challenge; if you can finish in 9min, you get it for free plus your next bill up to $77 is covered :o personally I can't but I'd def give it a try if I knew there was a chance. Bring your hungry hungry friends! 10/10 would come back soon! Plus, 10% off for their grand opening this month. PS. Review coming from a certified ex-Markham Asian. You can trust me on this one!

Finally there's a decent ramen place in Newmarket that is comparable to those in Markham! We ordered a shoyu 13.99 and a black garlic oil ramen 14.99. Though I can't be sure if they are tonkotsu soup base, they taste good. They aren't too salty tho the black garlic oil one is a bit more oily than the shoyu one. I'm glad the ramen also come with an egg and not an add-on. The noodles itself also has a good chew. There's also a miso ramen and a red knight (kimchi) ramen on the menu; would love to try too. Though it seems to be a rather simple menu, they also let you build your own bowl of ramen. Something that I wish for... 1. If we can choose the thickness of the ramen 2. The menu shows the ramen comes with three pieces of chashu but it's only two thin slices 3. The chashu has a good torched smoky flavor to it however they are too thin so they are dry even with the fat. Wish they are cut thicker. Definitely would be back again!

Nice, bright and clean restaurant. Definately more of a casual dining experience. We ordered the gyoza, karaage, spring rolls and Ippon Miso & Beef Ramen. The beef was most flavorful. All were good and arrived hot and our family is still on the hunt for the best ramen in the GTA!

I recently checked out ippon ramenwhich is located in the heart of Newmarket near Upper Canada Mall. I was thoroughly impressed with the quality and taste of the food. I was equally as impressed with how clean the restaurant was and how attentive and friendly the staff were. They have an impressive menu and are not only limited to Ramen but also have several Don and rice dish options. The dishes I tried: Black Knight Ramen (black garlic, cha siu, egg) Tempura set Takoyaki Curry Chicken cutlet The Black knight Ramen was very delicious and the broth was very flavorful and rich and not too salty. The egg was cooked to perfection and perfectly runny! I also loved the Takoyaki which was very fresh and soft on the inside. The curry chicken cutlet had a nice crispy coating. They currently have daily lunch specials for only $12.50 and a super bowl Ramen challenge if you are feeling extra hungry .

Since covid started, I stopped Yelping and decided to live under a rock jk lol. I just stopped using Yelp in general since I wasn't out much. But I feel like today is the day I come out of hiding! My wife and I decided to try this place for the first time. We've been to two other ramen spots in the area and both were great! We wanted to try a third so we have more options and we were not disappointed! Upon entering, it just felt like we were home. The decor and colour palette kind of matched what we have at home, so overall the atmosphere was spot on. We were seated immediately and given the menu. She came back few minutes later to take our order. We loved how quick the service was and how professional/courteous the staff were! We ordered the Ippon Shoyu, black knight and chicken karaage. The chicken came first, piping hot! My wife took the first bite and saw that it was still a little raw, so we quickly got it replaced. The staff were very apologetic and said there's a new person in-training that's responsible for all the fried items. It was fine, sh** happens! The ramen came quickly after and they were delicious! Loved every bite, especially that cha siu!! Smokey and fatty, the way I like it!! When we were done, the owner came and personally apologized. We assured him that it was fine, but he still gave us 15% off the bill + two 10% off coupons for our next visit + the karaage was on them! All you restaurants and owners out there.. take a page out of Ippon Ramen's customer service. That's how things need to be done if you want customers to come back! 5/5 + we'll definitely be back!

This was my second time here, I had the Black ramen - consistently flavourful broth, tender meat and perfectly cooked eggs. Servers are very friendly, place is clean. My go to ramen place in Newmarket

Tips: - The yuzu oat miso ramen is divine and oh-so special…read more Get it! It comes with both pork belly and chicken. Last Saturday, after a trying week and a not-so-pleasant experience at a ramen joint in Vaughan, I craved ramen with better customer service. I decided to carve some time out to drive north to Aurora to find a ramen place that offered comforting food. I did a search. I found Ramen Yutaka. I had bookmarked it. I needed to go. This eatery is located between Plates and Bowls, and Lee Chen in a plaza that I am familiar with. I've been to the former, along with Best Buy and Swiss Chalet in the vicinity. I had no problem finding a parking spot. I backed into an available one and walked into the restaurant. I was immediately greeted by a friendly woman. She said that I could sit anywhere, so I sat at a two-seater table. Another male staffer came over with tapas, sushi, and ramen menus. I wanted ramen, so I focused on that menu. Service is stellar at this place. The female staffer came over to ask if I had any questions. I didn't. She did say that on the ramen menu, the first few items were clear broths. The ones that were further down were creamy ones. I liked that the creamy broths were dairy-free, thanks to oat beverage being used. Nice! This place doesn't distinguish ramen with pork belly versus ramen with chicken. You get both! You get sous-vide chicken and roasted pork belly with the ramen broth of your choice. The ramen varieties are creative and unique. Seeing coffee and yuzu as ramen options piqued my interest. I ordered the following items: - Coke zero - Gyoza - Yuzu oat miso For the yuzu oat miso, I asked that the bamboo shoots be held. The woman asked if I wanted an egg. Without hesitation, I said yes. Both staffers were exceptionally detailed and attentive. She asked whether I wanted ice in my Coke zero. I said yes. I got water to start. It was much needed after spending my day running errands. I also ended my meal with it. My Coke zero had arrived. It was in a glass with ice. So refreshing! My gyoza were ready. They all looked yummy and the plating was pretty. The filling was pork and was delicious. The dumplings were pan-fried and had the perfect crispiness on the bottom. The house-made vinaigrette was so good. If it were ever sold in bottles, I'd get some. My ramen came out next. It looked good. I liked that only a bit of the roasted seaweed was in the broth. It was a nice touch as opposed to getting completely soggy roasted seaweed right off the bat. The yuzu provided a nice, subtle citrusy flair with the miso broth. I liked the oat beverage for a creamy, luxurious broth that was so good. I nearly finished it, but I was so full that I left maybe five spoonfuls of it. It was such an elegant bowl of happiness. It came with a sweet tofu rectangle that was heaven. I also liked the spinach that seemed to be wrapped in a rectangle. Unravelling it was fun! The roasted pork belly was a thick cut. It was flavourful. I throughly enjoyed it. This place specializes in chicken. I got three sous-vide slices that were so tender. If I didn't have any teeth, it wouldn't have been a problem eating them. They were so tender. I want more just thinking about it. The jammy egg was perfect. You get an entire egg. It was so perfect with this entire bowl of ramen. The ramen was on the slightly thick side, which made this bowl exceptionally comforting. They were chewy and so good. I slurped them down and was so happy. The yuzu oat miso is so special. I let the male server know that everything was superb. This ramen was $24. Yes, it's on the higher side of the scale. However, you get a lot of protein and everything is of good quality. I'd happily go back and get it again. I used the washroom before I left. There are two individual stalls. The one that I used was clean and spacious. Both staffers thanked me for coming. I wished them a great day and happily walked out with a belly full of goodness. Stellar customer service. That ramen joint in Vaughan can take notes from this eatery on how to improve in this area. I needed this meal. My week ended on a high note. Yay! If you're in Aurora, you are lucky to have this eatery. It's worth the drive for delicious, high-quality, tasty ramen. (448)

My friend, Chris, was in Newmarket for an appointment. He was interested in trying Cynthia's Paradise's AYCE menu. He asked if I'd like to have dinner with him last Wednesday. I said yes. I find that our meal outings lately have been AYCE, stuff-yourself-silly ones. I like that we are both comfortable with each other's food comas! I left work at around 2:30 pm and made a leisurely drive up to Newmarket. 1.5 hours to get here wasn't bad. I eventually drove north along Yonge Street, made a right into the plaza, and parked next to Chris's vehicle. There was plenty of parking, but it did get busy by the time we left at around 7:45 pm. Chris made our reservation for 5 pm. It was perfect, as I tend to have an early dinner after work on Wednesdays. We originally got a booth near the front door. The woman staffer who seated us then said that we had the back booth reserved. We moved ourselves and our water that we got right off the bat to the booth. It was a large booth. It came in handy, as the table was large. We got an iPad with two menus to switch between: - Drinks - Food We got these drinks: - Coke - Diet Coke (me) Drinks are not included in the AYCE price per person. Luckily, there are free refills for pop, which we needed to down all the food that we ordered! I ordered a bunch of items first. The menu is extensive, as there are Thai, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese items. Chris followed suit. We had over thirty items. Oops! Here's the damage that we made: Soups - Wonton - Hot and sour Starters - Mango salad - Smoked duck salad - Sous vide truffle egg (1) - Deep-fried cuttlefish ball (2) - Crispy soft-shell crab (1) - Mango shrimp with cream (3) Tempura - Crab meat (2) - Sweet potato (2) Veggies - Honey garlic crispy bean curd - Okinawa mixed vegetables Sushi - Smoked duck and crabmeat (6) - Torched salmon sushi (spicy) (1) - Torched snapper sushi (spicy) (1) - Tempura crab meat roll (6) - Spicy crab meat hand roll (1) - Smoked duck sushi (1) - Crispy banana avocado roll (4) Dim sum (they take 8 - 9 minutes to prepare) - Steamed pork dumpling (2) - Pork dumplings (2) - Shrimp dumpings (2) - Beef dumpling (2) Thai - Yellow curry chicken - Thai spicy fried rice Korean - Korean spicy beef and bun wrap - Grilled beef rib (3) Teriyaki - Beef - Chicken Noodles - Korean glass noodles with beef (japchae) - Japanese-style chicken udon Overall, the food was yummy. Some dishes that you'd think would have sauce, like the yellow curry chicken, didn't have much. It was like there was a drought with all sauces. Sauces with noodles or sauce on top of sushi rolls were perfect. Favourite dishes: - Japchae (tasty with a ton of flavour and stretchy noodles) - Sous vide truffle egg (flavourful with a spice kick that made boring dishes come to life) - Spicy crab meat hand roll (real crab and a generous size) - Crispy soft-shell crab (so crispy and delicious, with real crab) - Crispy banana avocado roll (unique pairing that tasted like a dessert sushi roll and the flavours worked) Dishes that I wouldn't get again: - Anything torched (torching was barely noticeable and the sushi lacked flavour) - Deep-fried cuttlefish balls (a find-the-cuttlefish journey within doughy balls) - Yellow curry chicken (sauce barely coated the chicken and veggies) - Thai spicy fried rice (there was nothing Thai about this dish, as there was no basil or coconut milk, and it was super oily) Food for thought: - I liked the smoked duck options, which was different. The smoked duck tasted like I was having deli meat. If you don't like smoked meat, you may want to steer clear of it. - The wonton soup was the perfect portion with yummy pork wontons. - The dim sum is decent. The soup dumplings could have had more soup in them, but everything was solid. - Get the Korean spicy beef bao wraps with the mango salad. Chris made the suggestion to add the mango to the spicy beef filling. Stellar! - We didn't get soy for our sushi. We ended up using the tempura dipping sauce instead. - This place does noodles well (japchae and udon) - Shrimp dishes tend to contain large shrimp. The downside ordering a bunch of food from the iPad is that it all came to us at once. The cat robot was frequently asking us to pick up the food from it. I wish that the cat robot would face me, but it never did. Because we got all our food at once, we ended up putting everything on our large circular table and taking a photo of everything before we chowed down. This robot sang happy birthday to the booth behind us. It starts in English. It started the Japanese version, but the server stopped it... haha! We came close to finishing everything! I'd return for a food coma again. (258)
