This ramen here was so good! It was a rainy day in Sydney so I walked to the Westfield mall to find this restaurant. It's a bit difficult to find on the fifth floor of the mall but that's because it is so large. I ordered the Tori Shoyu and LOVED the broth! There was so much depth to it and it wasn't too salty or spicy. Although I alway wish for more, the portion was a decent size. I realized that there are more Ippudos in the US after eating here so I am making plans to visit more!

Was craving for ramen after a long 51 cruise that served "okay" Asian cuisines. We happened to be walking around this area and decided to pop in for some warm soup. It is quite tricky to find this place as it's in the Westfield mall on the 5th floor. I don't think I would've found it if I didn't read it from another Elite. This mall is like a maze to me! Luckily we found it in no time tucked in a corner ish. The place was pretty bustling, but there weren't a wait time. The place didn't looked that busy, but the servers were all over the place. Took them a minute to realized we needed to place the order. We shared a communal table and enjoyed our meal. I ordered the Akamaru Shinjai and my partner ordered 3 bao buns. He had one of each - pork belly, pulled chicken, and pork. My bowl of ramen tasted fantastic and I was literally slurping every string of noodles and every drop of soup! The bao on the other hand was a little disappointment. I'm always skeptical about the bao being anything other than pork belly. Pork belly is always my fav, but he wanted to try it out. He, too, said if he had to do it all over again he would've ordered all pork belly. Overall it satisfied our tummy or so I thought it did. I didn't feel too well the next day. I thought I ate too much or something, but come to realized that I had food poisoning. I was throwing up the next two days and it wasn't a pleasant experience. I felt like I was on my death bed. Now I'm traumatized.

I absolutely adore Ippudo - it's a haven for ramen enthusiasts. The service exudes warmth and friendliness, and I must say, the bartender's welcoming demeanor added to the overall experience. The ambiance at Ippudo perfectly complements the delicious ramen.

Ippudo is a Japanese ramen chain. Our first encounter was 10 years ago in Kyoto and since then we've tried many Ippudo restaurants in different cities in Japan (Tokyo, Osaka, etc) and the USA (CA). We didn't hesitate to try it in Sydney Australia. This one is located in a Westfield Mall on the dinning floor with many other eateries and restaurants. Good space and ambience, service is always friendly as typical in Australia. We ordered the bonito tonkotsu ramen, akamaru ramen, katsu pork with curry, pulled pork bun, and pork belly bun. The ramen choices were rather limited because I didn't see any miso or shoyo broth varieties, only tonkotsu. The pork buns are Chinese style open-mouthed, I only saw them on the menu here, a nice touch catering to local population. Ramen was good, pretty standard Ippudo quality. Recommended if you happen to be in the area and in the mood for tonkotsu ramen and katsu dishes.

Yum yum. I wanted ramen & soup on our 1st night here after a 15 hrs flight. Service is good. Location is very close to world square/ food court .

First let me begin...I am not a ramen expert. I like Asian cuisine generally. Wife and I are visiting Sydney and was looking for Ramin near our hotel. We are from Florida,USA. Very nice restaurant with several seating options. We picked family style, so I could view the proper technique of eating soup with sticks! There were plenty of experts seated nearby. The first item ordered was a prawn bun for sharing and it was delicious. Then I ordered spicy ramen deluxe with pork. It was great and not too spicy. Temperature hot as it should be. My wife chose the vegi ramen which she enjoyed. Servers were very helpful and their English was more than adequate. In summary, an enjoyable dinner that was fun and did not break the bank.

There's definitely something different with their tonkotsu broth....it was really, really good! We've been to the other Ippudo's and I can honestly say that all of them are different, but at the same token... all of them are the same. I know that doesn't make sense, but their consistency with their classic tonkotsu broth is very impressive. Highly recommend trying this place out. It can really get busy, so be prepared to wait.

I had been wanting to try Ippudo's ramen for a while and this location was convenient for lunch. They're in the Westfield mall on the 5th floor. It's a popular spot - by noon there was a line up. The dining area is quite large, with big communal tables. I was very happy to see an iced tea option that was not sweetened! If you visit at lunch there are some good value sets that range from $11-17. That will get you a ramen if your choice, a small salad and potentially a small appetizer. I had the spicy tonkotsu, and the Mister had the Bonito version. Both cane with pork belly and well cooked noodles. I liked my creamy broth with a bit of kick to it. Beware - the bonito version is really fishy smelling. The gyoza that came with our set were nothing special but the salad was fresh and had a nice wasabi tinged dressing. Would return.

First time having Ippudo and it was pretty good. I just thought the price was a bit too pricey but it's definitely a lot better than the ramen I would have in Rowland Heights. I went a little early and barely manage to avoid the wait. They have a lot of people and understandably so since it's in Westfield. I thought the broth was tasty, the noodles were pretty good, but the pork could be a little better. I didn't have karaage but the person next to me had it and it smelled great and looked great...just a FYI because I almost ordered it just from the person next to me. haha overall, I'll consider coming back but there are actually a lot of ramen options in Sydney so I'm not in a hurry to come back.

When is it not good? Service was on point - friend and I came through during the lunch rush and we got a table as staff were clearing tables efficiently. Flavor of the broth still hits home and the meat in our ramen was hearty that I couldn't finish the second piece ! What fell a little short was the gyoza - only because they were quite small. Otherwise it's always a good time at Ippudo !

I am tired of going, only to face a 2 hour wait for a table. Nothing to drink. Nowhere to sit. Just stand like a wanker for 2 hours for $11 noodles. Out of your mind. Bye.

Visited this ramen spot during my visit to Australia, and I honestly wasn't expecting much given the other foods I had been eating during the trip. But-- I was pleasantly surprised! This is located in West Field mall, but it can get crowded! There was a pretty long line but I would say we got through within 30 minutes or so of waiting. We were seated at the bar area and the hardest part was choosing which flavor of ramen to get. They all sounded so good but I went with the Karaka-men and added bamboo and an egg. I cleared the entire bowl and soup. I tried to savour the last few bites because honestly this might be one of the best ramen joints I've hit up..and living in San Mateo, I've been to plentttyyyy!

I have been wanting to try Ippudo for quite some time. This popular Japanese ramen chain has locations all over Asia, along with a smattering of stores outside this continent in London, New York and Sydney. My travels led me to many of the locales in which there is an Ippudo, but I was unable to try it out until I visited the Westfield Sydney location when I was traveling in Australia. The restaurant is located on the 5th floor of this mall. This floor is the same one that one of the mall's food courts is located in, but this is actually a full-scale restaurant. At the front of the restaurant you will find the restaurant's bar along with a couple of dining tables outside the ramen shop. There is a waiting area here to be seated inside. I was traveling solo so I was wondering if they had any space since the restaurant was quite full. Fortunately, they do have counter seating for this very reason so I was able to find a space. The interior of the restaurant is beautifully modern. Ippudo is known for its tonkotsu ramen as it originated in Fukuoka. The menu here is quite sizable as it doesn't just serve ramen like the other popular Japanese tonkotsu ramen chain, Ichiran. Here you can find other offerings like gyoza, rice bowls, salads, steamed buns and even tonkotsu sandwiches. Given the mall location, I thought the food prices were decent. Comparable to having a bowl of ramen in Seattle when factoring the USD-AUD conversion rates. The basic ramen bowls are in the $15-17 range. Add a few dollars if you want an egg or additional meat topping. For my meal, I opted for the limited time ramen offering on special called Ippudo Kuro ($15). To pair, I got an order of crab frits ($7) and a glass of Sake One ($6). The ramen took a while to come out so I was glad that I ordered an entree (Australian name for appetizer) and drink. Sake One is an Australian produced sake that is made locally. I thought it was pretty good, though it tastes different from the Japanese sakes I have had previously. It tasted more like a regular wine to me. And though the crab frits, which are mini crabs that are deep fried are best eaten with a glass of Japanese beer, they worked perfectly fine with the sake. This is a great bar food offering if you are here just for a drink. The crabs are crunchy and accompanied by a spicy mayo and lemon. As for the ramen, I enjoyed it as it had a nice rich broth. The noodles in this dish were different from the usual slippery noodles as they were thick. They look almost like udon, but the taste was reminiscent of Okinawan soba. I wouldn't call this the best ramen that I have had, but it was above average. If you are looking for a bowl of ramen in the Sydney CBD, Ippudo is where I would recommend going. It has nice ambiance, prices are reasonable and the menu here has plenty to choose from. The offerings go beyond just serving ramen.

Had a lonely dinner after work and wow this place did not disappoint. Service was fast and on point and food was delicious. I had a salmon sashimi rice bowl which was pretty good, only thing I did not enjoy that much was the little egg pieces. If you're not into egg pieces like me, maybe try getting it without them. However, PORK BUN!!!! Probably the best bun I've eaten in my whole entire life. No doubt. read more

Very happy ippudo opened here in Sydney. The broth is great, the noodles a bit thin, but overall one of the better ramen I've tried in Sydney. The pork was extremely tasty. The pork buns were a bit of a disappointment. The meat was a bit fatty, but the bread was nice and light and fluffy. Overall the flavour was good, but the meat let it down a bit. Recently visited ippudo in New York, and this one definitely isn't as good, but hey, it only opened a week ago! read more

Went in for lunch today to see what everyone was talking about and I must say that I was incredibly impressed. First of all the service was impeccable. Polite, friendly and extremely helpful. The traditional Japanese greeting was unexpected, but was very appreciated. Everyone sounds so happy! As for the ramen, well I haven't had any this good since I visited Osaka several years ago. So very succulent, had to stop myself from ordering another. Sadly I did forget to try the pork buns but be assured I will be returning very soon to try them out with friends in tow. 5 Stars across the board, I simply cannot think of another ramen restaurant in Sydney that is in this league. read more

I had the shiromaru tamago (tonkotsu with egg) for $17 and my boyfriend had the akamaru tamago (tonkotsu with garlic oil, miso paste, pork belly and egg) for $18. Both were nice but not nice enough to justify the $17/$18 price tag. The ramen at Gumshara is much better and a lot cheaper. The one thing I did love about the ramen here was the hand-pulled noodles. Most ramen restaurants (including Gumshara) use pre-made packet noodles and they rely on the flavour of the broth rather than the noodles to carry the dish. The Ippudo noodles taste amazing. They are thinner and firmer than regular ramen noodles and you can specify how you want your noodles cooked - normal, hard or very hard. I asked for normal and the texture was great. I think 'hard' would be good if you eat your ramen slowly (and 'very hard' if you eat your ramen very slowly) - that way, your noodles won't go soggy in the broth. My perfect bowl of ramen would consist of Ippudo noodles in Gumshara broth with a soft-boiled egg from Gumshara and chashu from Ramen Zundo. Mmm, delicious. Oh, and there would be plenty of large roasted seaweed sheets placed around the edge of the bowl. Gumshara seems to be the only place that puts roasted seaweed sheets in its ramen. The pork buns ($4 each) were outstanding. Very tender pork belly pieces with lettuce and mayonnaise in steamed white buns. They were kind of like mini Asian burgers. The gyoza ($6 for five teeny-tiny pieces) was nothing to write home about. We had the black sesame panna cotta for dessert. This was very nice and quite good value at $7. Service was friendly but a little clumsy. They gave us our bill before we had even received dessert, and there was often a bit of replication with two or more waiters asking us the same thing in succession. read more

I went with my husband after reading some comments here on Yelp, and i have to say i had an amazing time. Gyozas were perfect, the beer very cold, what to say about those fried crabs? Delicious! Ramen soup was awesome too read more
People love this place, but I don't. I've tried Ippudo in a number of cities around the world and my criticism is always the same. The tonkotsu broth is too one-dimensional, no complexity. My most recent visit to this Sydney outlet left me feeling a little ripped off. Expensive ramen + bland broth + tough-as-old-boots pork loin. Just not that good. In fact, totally average. Do yourself a favour and try somewhere else. If you do find yourself here, expect food which is simply average and nothing special. They need to lift their game. read more

I had the Karaka Men Chashu, with the noodles "hard." It was absolutely delightful. This is right up there with Ramen Dojo, Santa Ramen, and Orenchi (all in the San Francisco Bay Area). Sure the chashu pork was melt-in-your-mouth delicious, but that doesn't make this place stick out from the other very good ramen places. What makes this ramen so great is that it fires on all cylinders. The noodles are firm and flavorful and they stay coherent even after 20 minutes in the broth. The ground, caramelized pork with spicy miso kicks the broth up to a new level. (I tried the broth without mixing in the toppings; it was fine, but not amazing.) The green onions were fresh and added just moments before serving. read more

For a Friday night, a wait time of 30mins wasn't too bad. Ordered the shiromaru special, 3 baos, unagi gohan, an entree and two drinks. The ramen is nothing that special.... especially for $23, have had much better broth elsewhere. The shrimp bao was average, peach sake soda was bland. The unagi in my rice was so small... Although it all tasted nice I still think Ippudo is way too over hyped. Now tried, don't think I'm going to bother dining there again read more

I may regret writing this review if the restaurant is too crowded the next time I visit - but here goes... Ippudo in the Westfield Junction mall was the best Ramen I've ever had. They had a new special which (a miso ramen with pork and black pepper). Someone (store manager?) asked if we liked it, as they were considering adding it to their menu. It certainly wins my vote! At the end of our meal, the service seemed to be a little lacking, as we waited and never received our check. After awhile we got someone's attention, and they explained that you go to the register and tell the cashier where you were sitting. The cashier touches your table on a floor plan, and your order appears. So now we know - but we waited about 20 minutes for a check because we didn't understand their process. But otherwise a really really good meal. read more
Solid ramen, especially vegetarian ramen. Get the mini crabs and daikon salad as appetizers / entrees. ~$40 for 2 appetizers / entrees and 2 mains. To avoid the wait, head in before 5:45PM. + If you head in before 5:45PM (ideally 5:30PM), there isn't a line. It gets packed quickly on weekdays and weekends. + Veggie Ramen is delicious and a great price of $15. It's hard to find solid vegetable ramen at any joint and this one has all the rich aromas in the vegetable broth. Mushrooms, rocket (a.k.a arugula), and onions are in it as well. There's a bit of a kick to the broth but it's a good one that warms your soul. + Crab Frits is amazing. Get it. You won't regret it. $7 for deep fried mini crabs paired with some kind of aioli and a slice of lemon. There are condiments on the table, incl. chili oil. Mix a tiny crab with some aioli and chili oil and you're in for a magical surprise. +Japanese Daikon Salad is a refreshing appetizer. The shoyu-sesame dressing paired with radish, bonito flakes, nori, tomatoes and sweet tofu skin is a solid way to start off the course. A small portion at $7 is enough to split for 2 people. + Noodle consistency. You get to choose the toughness of the noodles from soft to medium to hard to very hard. The first time I went, I chose hard. It was a little too tough for me. The second time I chose medium and it was the perfect elasticity. Service was great both times. Super nice, efficient and friendly. read more
My friend who lives in New York loves this place, so since I was in Sydney, I decided to give it a try! I tried the shiromaru motoaji and added a flavored egg to it. I also had my ramen noodles cooked until soft. While the ramen was good, it was on par with what I've had in San Francisco. It was nothing special. The wait staff also weren't very friendly. Maybe they didn't like my American way of pronouncing everything because they repeated every food item I said in Japanese. read more

Probably the best ramen in Sydney. It's well priced, has upscale decor, fast service, and most importantly, tasty Japanese food - couldn't ask for more! Love the sushi here. The rice is wrapped in fresh salmon and there is a really tasty but not overpowering flamed mayonnaise type sauce on top (they only make one type here). A large selection of Japanese drinks are also on offer. The menu has changed recently and everything is around $1 to $2 more pricey! They now also offer pork toasted sandwiches. Not sure how I feel about this. read more
Not a fan of the changed menu!!! This place is becoming less about Ramen and more about little dishes and Ala carte style dining. I will probably return for the Fish roe rice dish and their classic ramen but I was very disappointed that this place is heading to perhaps a more Western appealing venue?... read more

On a cold day, we walked to Westfield Sydney and joined the long queue outside Ippudo, in search for some warm and toasty ramen! Food: To start off, we absolutely had to try the famous pork buns, which did not disappoint! The steamed bun was smooth and light, and very sweet, which was complemented by the slightly spiced braised pork and sweet Ippudo original sauce. It was a great appetiser and I could have easily had a few more! My pick was the Shiromaru Motoaji, which had tonkotsu broth, thin noodles, pork loin, bean sprouts, black mushroom and shallots. I also ordered it with Tamago, or flavoured egg. It was not spicy at all, and so flavoursome, with the thin, pork based broth soaked up in the tender noodles! The egg was also delicious, and when I soaked it in the ramen broth, the runny yolk tasted fantastic with the hot ramen soup. The pork was tender and there was a good quantity as well, so it was a great sharing dish. My mum ordered the Bakuretsu Tofu, which was very spicy, and comprised of tofu and minced pork that came out in a sizzling pot! The tofu was silky and flavoursome and the pork tender, but the one thing that we would've changed was to have soft noodles rather than the small crispy ones that were included in the dish. Ambience: Upon entering the restaurant, you're greeted with Japanese phrases and led to your table, which creates a lovely and hospitable atmosphere! Boxes are provided for coats and handbags, which is great, and service was very fast, with friendly staff who assist with menu choices. The decor is very open and it's always fascinating to see the staff cooking as the kitchen is visible as well! Overall: For an amazing Japanese cultural dining experience, head to Ippudo and brave the lunchtime rush for their ramen, entrees and of course, the amazing pork buns! read more
This was the one stop on my foodie weekend in Sydney that I had not planned in advance. In fact I can't even remember where I read about Ippudo, but the moment I did I was rearranging my Sunday around a lunchtime visit. Heading up to the food court on a wet and rainy Sunday there was a queue, but it was quick moving, and as a solo diner I was efficiently moved to the bar which I was more than happy to be seated at. Despite being in a Westfield, the rest of the world fades away once you reach Ippudo - its dark interior and trendy soundtrack take you to another world reminiscent of the modern side of Tokyo. Then you order and when a bowl of steaming ramen is place in front of you you're instantly transported back in time to the Edo period - it's like Japanese heaven. I chose the most basic and traditional of ramen with pork and veggies and medium noodles. It was warming and hearty, but not super filling, and there's the option to order more noodles if you eat your way through the standard portion. The broth was so fragrant and flavoursome that I no longer regretted the absence of ramen on my recent trip to Japan, and my soggy feet from a morning walking in the rain were instantly forgotten. I also chose the shrimp bun (since I'd the pork bao the day prior at Momofuku) and it was delicious crunchy and sweet. The bun itself was not quite as light and fluffy as Momofuku's but the price was much friendlier so no complaints here. There's a very comprehensive menu including Japanese whiskies, sake and craft beer which was much appreciated and a great selection of dishes other than ramen should the mood take you. The staff were friendly and the service super quick - I'd definitely head back on my next trip to Sydney! read more
Let me preface by saying that I've waited in the small crowded bar and/or in sub-zero temperatures for well over an hour for the Ipuddo in New York more than once, so I know what to expect from Ipuddo, but I also have high expectations based on the impeccable service, an aesthetic that manages to be trendy and upscale, while staying casual and relaxing. The Ipuddo in New York is definitely the real deal. Comparatively, this location felt a bit like the younger sibling, anxiously following in the footsteps of the successful older sibling, but somehow falling a bit short. The place felt like a very nice suburban strip mall location, and the service felt like that of a mid-range family restaurant. The ramen was distinctively Ipuddo, though: balanced, honest, simple, with no gimmicks. But the package just wasn't complete, unfortunately. 3.5 stars, maybe? Maybe if I had lower expectations, I'd feel differently. read more

Yummy! My husband and i were visiting Sydney and since we were hungry, we were looking for places to eat and he just so happened to stumble across Ippudo! We live in Los Angeles and currently the closest location is San Francisco! We were super excited to find this as the wait in SF is probably forever right now. We ordered the pork bun, karaage set with shiromaru motoaji, and akamaru shinaji. Pork bun: full of fatty goodness and flavor Yum! Pricey, but worth it. Karaage set with shiromaru motoaji: karaage was good. The shiromaru motoaji broth was not as fatty as I would've liked, but still solid. Akamaru shinaji: This has miso flavoring so hubs enjoyed it. Of the two, we preferred this one. Fyi: they do provide fresh garlic with the garlic press as well. (No charge) gotta ask for it though. This proved to be quite a lot of food for the both of us. Left super stuffed, but wanted to taste the items as we don't have an ippudo near us. Decor is cool! No wait and service was fast as it wasn't super crowded when we went. read more

Great ramen, but a bit overpriced. Got the pork buns as well, which was delicious, but same issue. $4 for one little bun isn't worth it for me. However, it was the best ramen I've bad in Sydney so I would recommend it to those ramen freaks out there willing to pay the bills. The broth was on the salty end , but bearable. Noodles were delicious as you could choose the texture. Only worth it for ramen lovers in my opinion. read more

Delicious! I've been to Ippudo New York. And Ippudo Sydney does not disappoint! Pass on the fried dumplings. Get the pork buns. Watch out their San Pelligrino has flavors. The Akamaru w/ simmering pork belly is good with some extra toppings. Their dinner menu is more elaborate than their pre-dinner menu. You can opt to sit outside the restaurant and order to-go but their menu options are VERY limited. It is Australia - do you tip? don't you tip? It is up to you to decide. But with the great service and delicious food - you would feel horrible if you didn't! So throw a couple of those $2 pieces in there! read more

Not bad at all. The ramen and gyoza I had was both pretty good. I forgot the name of the ramen I got but it was the spicy one. With "hard" noodles. The noodles are very thin and not very chewy, so if that's what you like you should order something else. I think they have different options for noodles. We also ordered the pork buns and chicken bun. I liked the pork bun but the chicken bun was just okay. read more

Busy ramen restaurant. Noisy inside but beautiful outside on a spring evening. The bao or steamed bun with prawn, chicken or pork stuffing was delicious. Soft steamed pastry. 3 of your choice for $11 or individually for $5. Our waiting staff was very knowledgeable and gave us a run down of the noodles. There was hard medium or soft noodles with prices ranging from $10 to $18. I had the pork for $15 and was not disappointed with a pork broth and tender thin sliced meat. This left me craving for more. Maybe the bowls could be larger or option to pay more for larger serve. No hot green tea in summer only iced green tea. Otherwise a pleasant spring evening with a hot bowl of noodles. read more

Ippudo puts a modern twist on traditional Japanese tonkotsu ramen, presenting it in a buzzing, dimly lit and open atmosphere. The food is complex, almost overly so at times. As a fan of simpler, more traditional tonkotsu broths I would rather see condiment options on tables to allow patrons to season to taste rather than the kitchen enforcing preference. Love, love, love Ippudo's!! We first ate at NYC and were super excited that there was an Ippudo in Sydney! We've been there twice now and loved both experiences. It fills up fast at lunch time so try to be there around 11:45 to skip the lines. The Raman is soooo good!! Absolutely love the stock! The pork belly is much better than the pork loin or sirloin. If you want a delicious starter try the BBQ pork buns. Get the 3 because you'll want more after one and you definitely won't want to share it :) Enjoy!! (Oh, and I like my noodles ordered hard, they soften up a bit in the hot broth and are perfectly al dente afterwards). read more

After a day of retail therapy, Ippudo offers a great environment to step away while still being inside the centre. New menu offers some great healthier options if you don't want to go Ramen nuts. Although, no one will judge. The greetings from the staff on arrival and the farewell are a nice touch that makes you feel like you're in Japan. Community seating makes for minimal waits and adds to the fun and feel of the restaurant. You can get inspired for your next visit by seeing what your new neighbour orders. read more

ADEQUATE. This is the only word that I can use to describe my experience at ippudo. The kaarage chicken is not even worth mentioning, it's ok at best, and the Mayo, I'm not sure if it's Japanese Mayo, it didn't seem to be as sharp. The ramen is ok. The broth was far too thin, and as I ordered the spicy ramen, it had the spice level of a few drops of tobasco. DO NOT SIT AT THE BAR, WORST SEATS EVER Honestly it was a bit of a disappointing experience considering the long queues out the door. read more
By far the best tasting ramen in Sydney. The soup base was delicious, and it was the perfect meal on a rainy day. The waiter recommended the pork belly bun so we ordered it. The restaurant is in a good location, in Westfield shopping centre in Sydney CBD. The atmosphere in the restaurant is nice, with modern decor. The Japanese food at this restaurant is also delicious. However, the menu isn't as expansive as other Japanese restaurants with only a few choices for ramen. Despite this, the ramen is quite nice, with the noodles cooked well, and the broth not too thick. The side dishes are also delicious, particularly the baos. The service was really good and the staff were very welcoming and accommodating. read more

Well oiled machine establishment. Located inside the Westfield mall. New customers get greeted by the entire staff. I ordered #5 pork ramen and the lunch set with the gyoza/salad for extra $4. Nice deal. I love the green chili sauce that came with the gyoza. I really need to find out where i can get some more for personal cooking. The pork was soft and flavorful. The broth was on point. The atmosphere is good, especially for a mall, the food was kinda average, but service was GREAT. Staff was very friendly & was on top of it and earned them a Star on their own. The tall hostess was energetic & did a great job. As for the food, maybe go for the noodles... I had the seared salmon rolls which didn't have a sashimi grade flavor. The steamed rolls of pork and chicken were really good, highly recommend! Edamame was pretty flavorless with small pods. I'm used to big, freshly steamed from Little Tokyo in DTLA, CA. read more

Last week I went to this incredible Ramen joint with a mate. The service was incredible, we joined the queue and the attendant took our names and said instead of waiting in line we could go to the bar and have a cocktail while we waited. So, of course we did. Let me tell you, Lychee Mojitos are AMAZING. When we were taken to our seats we were greeted by every staff member (about 30 staff) simultaneously shouting out a traditional Japanese greeting of "Irasshaimase!" and cheering and clapping. A little embarrassing, but quite fun! The wait staff were super attentive and friendly. The food was great. A tiny bit more expensive than standard Ramen places, but it's worth the extra couple dollars. For entrees we had Portobello Mushroom and Tofu Sukiyaki. Delicious. The sukiyaki sauce was rich and flavoursome and the mushrooms were cooked nicely. Not chewy at all. The pork buns are... wow. Full slices of braised pork wrapped in a classic japanese style bun. A simple piece of lettuce and mayo with Ippudo sauce makes this an awesome entree for $4. The ramen was lovely - the waiters asked how we'd like our noodles cooked. I said aldente, I got aldente. The broth was rich and the egg was cooked perfectly. To this day On Ramen has been my favourite ramen joint in Sydney... But not anymore. Ippudo for the win. read more

My favorite ramen in Sydney. Global consistency doesn't often come with authenticity, but here it is. I happily slurp down the same ramen and chomp the same pork buns whether I'm in Japan, Sydney, New York, London, and soon, Berkeley. The 5th floor restaurants stay open later than the rest of the Westfield. read more
I'm a fan of this Ippudo location. Even though it's in a Westfield mall, it was super convenient to get to and there was no wait! Which is unheard of at the New York location (at least the last time I went to the New York location). The food was just as great if not better. I took two friends who had never been to an Ippudo before and their impression of it lived up to my hype. read more

This was my first visit to Ippudo. We waited in line to get seated. The line moves very quickly and we were seat in a few short minutes. The pork buns were great as well as the ramon. The staff was very friendly and attentive. read more
The plum wines are nice. The ramen, yep they're good, but at that price point? Not really. There's many ramen joints in Sydney which are at least as good. They're just not backed by a big Japanese chain. read more

History
Established in 1985.
Ippudo was established in Japan by the company's founder Shigemi Kawahara in 1985. With over 60 restaurants in Japan and now New York and much of Asia, Ippudo opened its first store in Sydney in December 2012, with more on the way. Our signature tonkotsu (pork bone) broth is native to our birthplace in Hakata, Japan, and we're delighted to bring this same dish and many others to Sydney and beyond.

Went to new Japanese ramen restaurant at Central park last week The restaurant is located at backyard Central park shopping centre and everything so new still. If you prefer to eat outside, there are some tables. We wanted to eat there but it wasn't good weather so we decided to eat inside. Their inside decollation is very unique... red, black and white colour bases, lots of different language display and millions of the spoons (it calls ' Renge') hang on the wall. It is really spectacular!! And of course the shop is very clean and tidy inside and the staffs are ready to help you if you have any question about menu like I did. We ordered some entrées and two ramens. The entrees were nice timing to serve so we did not need to hold hungry belly so long. One of the entrée was potato salad. It was really tasty and good portion. I reckon they use Japanese mayo and its really good match with potato, cucumber and carrot. The potato salad was really fresh so its really good start. I am not vegetarian but I felt like to eat ramen without any meat taste. Lucky they have vegetarian ramen called ' Shoujin Ramen With Kakiage' so I ordered. To be honest, appearance of dish is not good impression for me when the staff bought it on the table. The Ramen is looks very very simple and I almost regret my choice. But from the first mouthful, I became so happy and was very surprised. The soup has lots of vegetable favour especially I could feel so much Shitake (Japanese mushroom) extracts whole of my mouth. Kakiage is Japanese vegetable tempura. When I dipped them into the soup and bit... it was just amazing. I never have such yummy vegetarian meal experience in my life. That was really great to know!! read more

I have been there couple times and my one of favorite Japanese restaurant in CBD. As I am Japanese, every time I come back Japan, I never forget to go Ippudo branch. Ippudo is one of the popular ramen group companies in japan and we can find them many different locations. Good thing for ippudo is we can find same taste and same services from any Ippudo groups. And here Sydney, We can find same yummy taste and same service level in Ippudo. Just last Saturday I again went to there and had good time with my friends. My friends loves Ippudo ramen so do I.. we are big fun of Ippudo. I always order Shiromaru Special because I can get everything in the one bowl... eggs, chashu, seaweed, black mushrooms and bamboo shoots... I love these topping. I found out that sometime hakata style ramen is very stinky maybe because of pork oil, which I hate but Ippudo never disappoint me.. soup is white but almost clear.. taste is simple but deep.. no stinky pork smell.. just perfectly cooked. It is exactly same taste with original Ippudo ramen in Japan. Egg is half- cooked and nice soy sauce taste.. break egg and mix with soup.. it is so good. Chashu ( bbq pork) is melt on the tongue and you have to be careful to eat otherwise its disappear in the mouth. haha Everybody can enjoy anytime in Ippudo.. Staff is so friendly and warmth every time we are in with professional high Japanese style customer service... oh you will surprise that.. Atmosphere is fantastic with fancy modern furniture and nice quiet music so we can use any occasions I think. I am really glad to be here in Sydney and meet again true Japanese Ramen! read more

My favorite place in SYD. I love Japanese food and I always crave to find nice Japanese restaurant. I knew Ippudo opened since couple years ago and heard they are really nice from somewhere all the time. I finally had the chance to have a dinner at Ippudo and I am totally into them now. Ippudo is well known as Ramen Restaurant... so I actually did not expect much quality for any of the side dishes. But I was totally wrong.. Ippudo is different with other Ramen Restaurants.. Of course Ramen is outstanding but side dishes were awesome as well. We ordered Ippudo pork bum, Goma Q, and Ippudo karaage chicken from the side dish menu. All of them were so yum but my favorite was Karaage chicken. Karaage is Japanese style Deep fried chicken. I've never had such tender and tasty Karaage in my life... just extreme perfection!! Especially I was drinking beer and it was my best collaboration really.. awesome! I could go back there just for Ippudo Karaage haha-- I love their customer service as well .. the service is exceptional and has higher standard than any other Japanese Ramen restaurants! They quickly offered us the seat and served us some water. They are very kind and helpful when I did not know about Japanese's special spices or stuff. Food delivery was also just on time so we were never left starved waiting.. The restaurant is very modern and so tidy and nice jazz music surround you. Any occasion is suitable I think..such as friend dinners, a date, family dinners and solo dinner even! They never disappoint us. read more

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Ippudo Sydney, and I must say it was an incredible experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy ambiance. The menu offered a wide selection of authentic Japanese ramen dishes, and I opted for their signature Tonkotsu ramen. The presentation of the dish was impressive, and the flavors were simply out of this world. The rich and creamy pork broth was perfectly balanced, and the noodles had the ideal texture. The toppings were fresh and added a delightful crunch to every bite. It was evident that the ingredients were of the highest quality, and the attention to detail in each bowl was commendable. The staff at Ippudo Sydney were attentive and knowledgeable, making excellent recommendations based on my preferences. The service was prompt, and my meal arrived quickly. The portion sizes were generous, and I left feeling completely satisfied. One aspect that stood out to me was the overall ambiance of the restaurant. The modern and stylish decor created a relaxed atmosphere, and the open kitchen allowed me to witness the skilled chefs in action. The staff's professionalism and enthusiasm added to the enjoyable dining experience. In conclusion, Ippudo Sydney exceeded my expectations in every way. The exceptional quality of the food, attentive service, and inviting atmosphere make it a must-visit for ramen lovers. I highly recommend Ippudo Sydney to anyone seeking an unforgettable Japanese dining experience. read more

I am Ippudo ramen lover.. Since I visited Japan and tried original Ippudo ramen in Hakata, I am really into Ippudo ramen. I love Japanese Ramen but especially Ippudo ramen is the best ramen for me. We can eat real Hakata Ippudo ramen in Sydney now so I feel really lucky Last time, I went to Ippudo and I ordered couple of entrée dish from the limited offer and of course my favorite " Shiromaru tamago ramen". As usual the ramen was fantastic and I enjoyed lots.. but I also enjoyed the entrees too "Salmon sushi with spicy mentai mayo" and " Salmon tofu nugget". I love Salmon and I know Japanese are really good at Salmon dish.. they never disappoint me.. Salmon sushi was very cute surface and detailed .It is really good match with mentai mayo. Mixing with special soy source was really great as well. It was good start... next we had " salmon tofu nugget".. tofu...?! Actually I could not feel any tofu at all... which is really good..just perfectly mixed with salmon. It really yummy healthy... we dipped them into the yuzukosho mayo.. oh..really nice.. yuzukosho mayo become my favorite dip sauce ever!! These two salmon dishes are limited edition so I am not sure when they stop to serve but I am pretty sure they never disappoint you. Better check out before disappear!! read more

Very comfortable and enjoyable time in Ippudo yesterday. I love Japanese style ramen. taste is totally different from Chinese, Vietnamese , Korean and thai... especially kind of soup is unique flavor from others. There are different type of soup taste in Japan.. and Ippudo's signature ramen is Hakata style Tonkotsu Ramen. I love Tonkotsu ramen cuz more deep taste and lots of favor than any other type of ramen. I tried couple of ramen's shop in SYD but ippudo is #1 so far. Ippudo ramen.. I can feel lots of flavors from the soup... noddle, chashus, eggs, all other garnish are perfectly match... its just ramen but it is one bowl of heaven. Atmosphere is also nice and very stylish.. totally different with other restaurants. There are good light illumination, nice jazz sounds and cosmopolitan style pictures on the wall.. open style kitchen and We could see where they actually cook for us... but no noisy and comfortable to be there.. they have good customer service... staffs are all friendly, welcome and warmth. They are very helpful if I am a question. I was really good relaxed.. almost being my home. I will be difinity come back again and cannot wait to eat their amazing ramen. read more

My friend and I had a girl's dinner at Ippudo at this Monday and we had a great night. To be honest, I totally disagreed to have dinner at Ramen Japanese restaurants with my friend, I remembered when I went to other Ramen restaurants, there were busy, noisy and they had dodgy atmosphere, so I did not enjoy to chat with my friends... Ramen restaurents are more likely as an easy quick dinner destination for me. But.... BUT!!! Ippudo has changed my image of Ramen Restaurant Lots!! Nice customer service, fancy decos, nice music and of course HIGH QUALITY FOOD!!!! I really recommend Akamaru Ramen... taste was just FANTASTIC!! I ordered Akamaru Remen Tamago (Egg), the egg was just beautifully cooked and greatly matched with garlic oil. I could feel veggies' sweet flavour in the soup and the soup itself and the egg noodle was a perfect match! And dont forget Chashu( BBQ pork)... I guess they spend so much time to cook the chashu because it's just sooo tender and made me hungrier for more. I really had a good time with my friend and we had lots of chatting as well..haha-- Surely.. We will come back soon and eat their Ramen again ... cant wait!! read more

It is really time flies.. It has been already two years since Ippudo opened the branch at Westfield. I was really surprised the news they come to Sydney two years ago I am really fan of Ippudo ramen. Since they came here .. They never disappoint me and keep making perfect ramens for us. Last Friday, I went to Ippudo Westfield with my friends for dinner. I wanted to celebrate their anniversary but also I knew we could get a Ippudo original sake just for $2. Its surprisingly cheap! We went there little bit earlier than normal diner time. Thankfully there were no long queues at front of the restaurant. As soon as possible we sat on the table and asked the sake and we started to drink the sake with some gyoza ( Japanese dumping). The sake was really good taste and I couldn't believe it was only $2!! And we ordered two different of ramen and the ramens were fantastic taste and we really enjoyed the ramen with the sake. Thank you Ippudo to serve us the outstanding yummy dish and friendly services. And congratulation for your successful business at Sydney. I am sure they will bring me surprising more in the future!! read more

I am UTS student and I love Ippudo central park. The shop locates on convenience area and pretty easy access from UTS. Its really new, stylish and modern decollation and most I like is tables are available outside their area. I focus to study really hard inside class so I need some fresh air after classes. I just went there again yesterday and I found out they are serving us Dinner special menu now. Its was just $20 and I could get a ramen, pork bum and soft drink ( or ice cream) I think it is really good value compared with Ippudo Westfield branch. Its really good for student like me. I ordered Shoyu ramen this time and the ramen was so good. Shoyu ramen is more simple taste than other Shiromaru or Akamaru. It has full of fish extract and soy sauce flavor.. really yummy chicken chashu with yummy waving noodles. Famous Ippudo pork bum was as yummy as usual and made me just full enough. I will come back again at lunch time cuz I saw they are doing lunch time special set too. Good price, great taste and fantastic location! read more

I would give this more stars , i was a regular for sometime and love it : good food & generally don't have to wait to long to get in.. But in more recent times it seems to gotten worse service is a little slack from time to time and then there is the surcharge to pay by card!! WHY???? when this is already built into food prices .. a chain of this size would of already thought of that... so why add it on and upset customers just for a few dollars and decrease the chance of them returning.. horrible that cos it is trendy that business feel the need to charge to pay by card. Overall: food is normally good and comes out quick & service is usually good too. read more

This is second time to try here. Ramen was ok actually I could have had better one at home. Always disappointed about warm soup... I want hot soup!! The reason why I did two stars: the service is so slow and no one paid attention to customers we are not the only one got annoyed. AND I didn't get what I ordered plus we got wrong check. It wasn't even busy we are annoyed again. read more

This was a fantastic place for a well priced Japanese meal. If you like ramen, gyoza and a fast paced atmosphere. It felt like being in Tokyo. While the seating is tight and the pace is fast - the food is delicious and the service excellent. I really enjoyed the kale salad with tempura mushrooms. The chicken karaage was also very good. Highly recommend this place. read more

How good can a restaurant chain serving in a food court be? As it turned out awesomely great food. Meals were cheap especially for the quality and the speed of service was fantastic. Be warned that there is a queue to get in, yes it's that good and I didn't even mind sitting in a communal table as the food was so enjoyable everything else was a blur. read more

My wife and I went to Ippudo son a whim and it was well rewarded. The varieties of Miso based dishes was phenomenal. We got the plus 4 combo which came with a wonderful salad, another appetizer (pork with rice) and then the entree. We were looking for comfort food and this did the trick. Service was good and friendly. We will return! read more

I love this place! especially in the tonkotsu ramen This is so delicious, especially if you are vegetarian they also have options for you! The set lunch is good value. Have to queue if you come lunch or dinner time but it is worth it! Also they have tap beer if you like to have one or two read more
