Irene Hoeve was a fun stop on a day trip that I booked on Viator. What could be more Dutch than cheese and clogs?! The store is located about a half hour away from Amsterdam.
Our tour started with a cheese making demo. Our guides were two brothers. I can't recall their names, but they were both funny and nice. They gave us background on cheese making and showed us the various steps in the process.
After the cheese demo, we got to see how they carve wooden clogs by hand. The guide explained the benefit of wearing clogs (keeps the muscles in your back, legs, and booty firm lol). He was running around in the clogs and was very lively.
After the clog carving demonstration, we were allowed to walk through the buildings as well as explore the gift shop. The gift shop had a ton of cheese samples. We were also able to sample some red wine. I sampled a few flavors of Gouda cheese and they were all quite tasty! I went home with a 12 month aged Gouda. I still have some of it and it is soooo good!
