It showed up in November near where I work so myself and a lady I work with who is Jamaican went to try it out. They run out of things so they didn't have the rice I wanted but I got the rasta pasta with jerk chicken. First things first this is a SPICY dish and while I am ok with spicy it didn't mention it anywhere on the menu so if you aren't familiar with jerk chicken you may not realize it's going to be spicy. This was spicier than any jerk chicken I've ever had. The pasta was cooked well but this dish was just ok. My friend who is from Jamaica said it was not authentic to Jamaican food at all. First meal in Waikiki, or the last place I expected to find jerk chicken. Was an Uber passenger riding on Ala Moana just past Kalakaua ave when we passed a group of food trucks on the corner. Driver said that the spot just opened up a few weeks ago. Came back for dinner to 1958 Kalakaua and there were food trucks for Hi Shack, The Rice Man, Saigon Grill, Byblos, Tacos Don Chema, and Irie Jerk. Jerk Chicken hard to find in my neck of the woods, with , the nearest being Backayard in Campbell. Ordered the $20 jerk chicken leg & thigh, and the $25 oxtail stew plate. Credit cards accepted, and about 10 minutes for the meals to be done. The chicken leg & thigh was pretty ordinary with dark chicken meat in bone over beans and dirty rice. Could have used some plantains to add more sweetness to the otherwise bland chicken dish. Had to navigate through sharp bones of haphazardly chopped chicken. Serving size large but considering the $20 price. Update: came back for our last dinner in Waikiki, and they had enhanced the chicken taste greatly so that it was spicy good. The $25 oxtail stew was the best I have ever tasted. Large chunks of meat cooked to fall off the bone in a very zesty spicy sauce over beans and dirty rice. No gristle and no fat, just solid meat. So spicy had to save some for the 5 minute walk back to the Hilton Hawaiian village timeshare, where water was aplenty. Update: came back for our last dinner in Waikiki, and the oxtail had some gristle and fat, but same hot spicy taste. The pork with mango over mashed potatoes was a bit over done, blackened and dry. Could have used more mango, but the potatoes were excellent, made from scratch, not from powder. No umbrellas on the picnic tables, and no cleaning of the picnic tables, until it rained later in the week. Update: a few days later they had put up blue sun umbrellas over the 7 tables. One woman operation doing all the cooking and collecting orders and dispensing change and credit card orders. Kadeen handed out the food in take out containers through a window about 6.5 feet off the ground. Had to receive food over my head, narrowly avoiding the mother of all bad hair days. Update: a few days later Kadeen came out to personally give us our meals, avoiding the possibility of the food dripping out of the narrow paper carton onto my head. read more

We are here on vacation for the week and decided we wanted Jamaican food. It was 5 of us and we arrived at opening time. The two gentlemen inside were very nice and helpful. My husband ordered the oxtails and another person in our group in as well . I ordered the jerk chicken wings and my brother did as well. My sister in law ordered the curry chicken. DELICIOUS food. I was undecided on what drink I wanted and one of the guys gave me a taste of something with a hint of cinnamon and it was super yummy. We really appreciate their customer service and highly recommend this restaurant for all of your Jamaican food cravings. I don't know their names but thank you for an excellent meal experience. They have a storefront off Bishop Street downtown, and they also have a food truck at Schofield. Finally some great Jamaican food on this island! The storefront is small, but the service was quick, and the food was good! The first time, I had it delivered to my job and ordered the mini ox tail plate. The second time, I went to the store front and got curry chicken with rice and peas, cabbage and mac & cheese. I am so sorry, it was so good it did not make the photo. LOL I also tried the mint lemonade, which was pretty good as well. PLEASE support this new, up and coming business!! The oxtail stew is foodgasmic! Go now! We finally made it to this food truck lot on a Friday night. It was around 8 pm and we were surprised to see most of the vendors still open. But we made a beeline for Irie Jerk because we needed to try this oxtail stew. The owner was super nice and friendly. We talked story for a little bit. Such a sweetheart. It too a little while for our order to be ready but omg did it not disappoint. We haven't had this level of amazing Caribbean food on island. Legit oxtail stew with rice and peas. Spicy. Fatty. Tender. Packed with flavor. It was so good. There were a lot of people that started showing up while I was eating. They could all smell my food and asked what it was and where I got it. From the time I ordered until the time I left, there were queues for this delicious stew. We're so glad to finally have a food truck lot in the area. The offerings are amazing. And people started pouring in around 8:30--after walking all over Waikiki. It seemed like this was the spot to be. Highly recommend giving Irie Jerk a try. It's soooo good. Great food, but I went in at around 3 pm on Friday, June 14th. Never got the cashiers name but the cashier really needs to adjust her attitude. No smile or greeting upon entry, and was bitter the whole time taking my order. If you're having a bad day, sorry about it but don't let it out on paying customers. Her bad energy almost made me turn around and not want to get food from here at all. She was the only person working so I guess since her boss (who generally is always very friendly and pleasant to order from) wasn't around, she feels as if she can get away with acting like an a**hole. Wasn't even busy at all but hey if you can't handle the heat, stay out of the kitchen, the food industry isn't for everyone. Today I seen some customers just happy to be eating their food and I walk pass this place daily going to Ross . Finally I decided why not try this place out . Take the chance . You know what ?! IT WAS AMAZING !!!! I ate every piece of my jerk chicken with the beans and rice with the cabbage with some sauce over the rice too . I found my new spot for Jamaican food !! Went to the food truck today at Hickam AFB as I love Jerk chicken. I ordered the Chicken and Thigh plate but the spice burned my mouth out. I like spice but not something that makes my eyes water and nose run, which is what I experienced. Red beans and cabbage were great but I think they need to provide fair warning if the chicken is meant to be that spicy.Based on reviews I probably just got a bad batch or heavy handed chef. Really miss the Jerk Chicken at Jawaiian Irie Jerk that used to be in Kaimuki and the Jamaican Grill in Tumon Bay as they had the spice and heat balance I was expecting and prefer. Can only speak for the food truck on Schofield, but I don't think I've ever had such amazing customer service. They hadn't updated their menu, so when what I was looking forward to ordering was no longer available, I was really disappointed. They made up for it with a free yummy drink! My disappointment was quickly gone when I tasted the food... every bite was to die for. Spicy though, so the free drink was very appreciated! I like the shredded chicken. The cabbage on the side is super tasty, too. What I love most about Irie Jerk is the service/ambiance. The owners are very friendly and go out of their way to accommodate guests. It feels very much like they are welcoming you into their own kitchen. I ordered jerk wings with oxtail stew when I was informed that they didn't have wings the told me they gave me a chicken thigh instead. I DONT EAT DARK MEAT. The female employee then told me "well wings are dark meat" , new flash they aren't. Wings are white meat wings have been meat white meat all my years of living. She then went on to offer me curry chicken instead I responded with isn't the curry all dark meat she said yes. So why would I want that if I just said I don't eat dark meat. Got their beef patty and oxtail stew plate, I think it's officially my new favorite place for oxtail. Beef patty was great as well but I've never met a beef patty I didn't like. The allspice is now too over powering and I love spicy foods but I can't taste the chicken. Then I can't get through my plate without eating so many bones. There's more bone than the actual meat. My wife and I visit Oahu as often as we can and love finding new spots to eat. We typically stay at Ilikai and walk around in Waikiki and usually have our go to places. Luckily today we stumbled upon Irie Jerk Food truck across the street from Waikiki Brewery. I'm a huge oxtail fan, mainly because my Grandma cooked it a lot for me growing up. So of course I ordered the oxtail stew plate, at first looking at the $25 price tag you might think it's steep but trust me it's worth it! The flavor and the subtle heat is spot on! The dish is served with rice and beans along with cabbage, all cooked very well. It has a very home cooked meal vibe which I love. Irie called out my order and she seemed very nice and friendly. My only suggestion would be maybe adding a couple plantains because it would really pull the dish together. I may be bias because that's how they serve Jamaican dishes on the Mainland and thats always a nice addition. I will be sure to add this spot to my list and visit again on our next trip! read more

I love Jamaican food and haven't been able to find really good authentic Jamaican food on Oahu until this food truck appeared on the corner of Kalakaua and Niu Street. We have been there 3 times and each time the food was amazing. I had the curry chicken which was tender and well seasoned, and as good as any I have ever had. It really was delicious. It was prepared authentically with small pieces of chicken with bone in. It was accompanied with excellent rice and peas and a really delicious cabbage dish. On our first trip to Honolulu we noticed Irie Jerk across from our hotel. First, the owners are SO nice. Second the food is OUT OF THIS WORLD. I've never had jerk chicken like this before. It was so fresh and came hot, so fresh and flavorful. We went to multiple five star restaurants and food trucks and all I could think about is this place. This is my first review and let me say this place was GOOD! Everything was so flavorful and she even let me try the chicken curry before buying it. Owner was super friendly and quick with service. I passed by this place on my lunch break & took a look at their menu. So glad i came in! I am on keto & trying to find a keto friendly place in downtown is not easy.
