The location: I went to the Manhattan office conveniently located in the Flatiron district. The area was clean and serene. Temperatures are checked and Rebecca wore a mask during our sessions. The massage: I wish it lasted forever. As someone who was pregnant and working at a hospital in the middle of the pandemic, these massages were heaven at the end of a busy work day. In addition to my own athletic training, it is essential for me to recover with assistance from a bodywork professional. Ruth worked on my whole entire body, getting into the nitty gritty micro muscles that don't get the attention needed when I stretch alone. She is very detail oriented; she works in intricate places and on muscles I've never had worked on by other therapists I've seen. I frequently get massages and when I've seen other therapists they tend to focus the majority of the session on the back and she spent even amounts of time in all places: neck, chest, hips, front and back of my legs, and my scalp. The moment you walk in, she creates a relaxing atmosphere for you to get away from the world for an hour or two. She put a perfect amount of pressure, creating that "good pain" feeling. Ruth is also a great listener. I know many people enjoy relaxing during the session, but I tend to talk during the body work because I'm a chatterbox. Ruth allows and welcomes that. During my last massage with her, she focused on providing a restorative massage by reading my chakras and balancing my energies. I was literally brought to tears by the amount of release I felt in my body. Her ability to release tension is beyond what I have ever experienced during other massages. During her integrative restorative massage she also used reflexology, which lengthened my body by removing tension and melted away the stress I had been carrying around in my muscles. The release was so profound that I could hear the joints in my body cracking and realigning themselves with no direct pressure. It was simply a result of my body opening up.
