I hired Iris and Light for my wedding and I highly recommend them to anyone and everyone. Being a photographer myself, I had an excel spreadsheet of potential photographers in and outside of Los Angeles- but they were exactly what we were looking for. They're the real deal. My heart speeds up when I look at their photos. My husband and I just got back in the country, and I'd have to say a good portion of our honeymoon was spent reliving the wedding day. He and I couldn't stop gushing over how incredible John and John are. We are so so so blessed to have met them, it felt like they were family. I'm so glad they were available to shoot out wedding- they are both are part of our favorite memories from the day. The few photos they sent to us early (for Christmas Cards) are out of this world. John Stephens is a ROCK STAR! No seriously- not only is he an amazing photographer, he is the lead singer of Stars Align (check um' out) and is just so incredibly artistically talented. He did a phenomenal job on our wedding photos and I am so grateful I found him. It was by far the best investment we made (besides my dress of course). Oh, Iris and Light, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways. Before I get too cliched, let me tell you all you need to know about Iris and Light: 1. They're amazing to work with (you seriously will not find nicer people than Jon and Jonathan. You'll actually WANT to spend time with them even after your all-day wedding shoot is over. I may or may not have conspired to have them shoot my friends' weddings solely so I could hang out with them. What.) 2. Their pictures speak for themselves. I mean, I wouldn't lie to you about something as important as wedding photography (I'd lie to you about a lot of other things, but not about this). Check out their blog www.irisandlight.net if you don't believe me. They can even make awkward photo-phobes like me (a lawyer) and my nerdy husband (an accountant) look good. I mean, that's just TALENT. 3. They're insanely well-priced for what you get. Do your research -- you can get lower-priced wedding photos, sure. But you probably won't get as many shots, or shots that are as good quality, as Iris and Light's are. When I checked out wedding photogs, I only emailed people whose photos I was in love with. Iris and Light were the cheapest by thousands of dollars (yep, THOUSANDS); not to mention, they were the coolest people I contacted, by far. (Why you would hire a photog who gives you a snotty email response, I have no idea. And yet, people still manage to respond that way. Um... thanks, but no thanks? Yet another reason to go with I&L.) 4. I was so enamoured of Iris and Light (both the people + their work product) that I referred the hell out of them after my wedding to my engaged friends and family (yep, they shot 3 of my friends' weddings in the 12 months following my nuptials -- need I say more?) So, in summary -- hire Iris and Light. You will not be disappointed. And while you're at it, hire them and then invite me to your wedding, because I haven't gotten to hang out with them in like 6 months now (which, given that I got to see them at pretty much every other wedding I went to last year, is clearly way too long). read more

Why aren't there more stars on here?! My husband and I got married in Cancun last October and had already made the decision to put the most of our investment into our photography. That's what will last, right? Not only did Iris and Light produce amazing engagement photos and a gorgeous video for us, but the wedding photos were more beautiful than we could have ever imagined. We also invested in the printed album, as well - it's also, well worth the investment. These guys work magic! The level of talent and awesomeness is ridiculous! Their work is worth every single penny and we've already recommended them to 4 other couples that recently got engaged. Not only is their work incredible, the whole team was so fun to work with! Iris and light in one word... P.E.R.F.E.C.T.I.O.N!!! We had Iris and Light as our photographer for both engagement session and the wedding! My close friend had Iris and Light as her wedding photographer, and ever since she showed me her pictures, i had no other option for my wedding photographer, other than Iris and Light! I fell in love with their pictures right there and then! From the very first stages of our wedding planning, i told my now-husband that if i do not get to have Iris and Light as my wedding photographer, then i would just get married at a court, and there will be no ceremony. For me, No Iris and Light = No wedding ceremony!!! And of course, my husband had to say yes to having Iris and Light! Now, he is so glad that he said yes then! Like all the reviews below me have said, hiring Iris and Light for our wedding was the best decision we ever made. We got married in North Carolina and flew them out here a few days before for some one on one time with them. They scouted Durham for awesome wedding day photo locations too! They even came to our rehearsal and shot our rehearsal and rehearsal dinner AND a mini engagement session for no additional charge! John and Jonathan are honestly the nicest people in the entire world. By the day of our wedding, they were more than just our photographers, they were our friends FOR LIFE. It is now 2 years later and we still keep in touch on a regular basis. I They did my little sisters wedding too in Malibu and her pictures came out so beautiful. Wedding photos were the most important thing to us at our wedding. Iris and Light captured all the important details that you miss during your big day. Iris and Light traveled up to Nestldown in Los Gatos to shoot our wedding. We loved their personalities, and they made us feel so comfortable! But they really capture lush, ethereal forests like no one else we have seen. As beautiful as your special day may be, let's face it, you barely get to see how beautiful it is! With all the hustle and bustle of a wedding day you barely have time to eat let alone remember what the bridesmaids dresses looked like or who was grinidin on who by the end of the night. And sure, you can get some photographer who will do it for cheaper but..... you are going to regret not spending the money on quality photographers. Jon and John were the best decision I made! They are so professional and just know what they are doing, they know how to make everyone feel comfortable in front of a camera and the work speaks for itself! I had been following Iris and Light's blog for about three years. I loved their style and could tell they were passionate and truly enjoyed what they did. When I got engaged, I almost didn't think about asking them to do our photography because I thought they would be over the top expensive because of their quality of work. I braved it and was shocked how reasonable the prices were...and they definitely didn't disappoint! When we had the chance to meet John the day before, it was as if we had been friends for a while. They are both (John and Johnathen) so easy going and extremely fun! The wedding day was such a blast and a huge part of that was because the tone was set off right with our pictures. They made everything feel so relaxed, but important, that I didn't worry about a thing. It was such a great time that I didn't want it to end--a fantastic start to the day. We were able to work with Ryan as he was our wedding cinematographer/videographer. Using them I have to say was one of the best decisions we made. He and his crew made our day very relaxing and fun given how nervous this day could have been. We also selected to do a feature film of the day to show our guest and it's amazing how he was able to catch everything up to the hour, edit it all together and create a memorable film for the family to share. High end quality, they are definitely the best in the business. They are so in demand with so many projects lined up and somehow some way Ryan was still able to squeeze us in his busy schedule, create a lasting memory for us and provide our film in a timely fashion.
