He is prompt, communicative, and delivers on his promises. 1) for the engagement shoot: he helped us get comfortable, gave us directions, helped lighten the mood with music, and worked with our ideas as well and the props we brought! In the end, we got the vision we wanted along with some beautiful scenic shots that we liked from his portfolio. We used our engagement photo shoot everywhere - I highly recommend doing both since you'll get comfortable with him for the actual wedding too. 2) for the wedding day: he was a real pro- I had couple shots I really wanted which he took care of those. We had Bryan the owner for our engagement shoot and Tim for our wedding day! They both did an amazing job and our photos from both events were beautiful. Both very professional. Bryan went more than an hour earlier to our site in MAlibu to check weather conditions for the photos! He really puts 110% into perfecting his art and you can tell he loves his work as his priority is the picture over even personal comfort! Both of them are really good at telling you how to pose or which positions are unflattering etc. and very good at managing the time to get the perfect lighting during the day. The photos look artistic but still clean and are very appropriate for wedding photos. They were also very friendly and funny so our relatives and friends at wedding felt comfortable with him even though they aren't used to taking professional pictures etc. they captured all the main moments at the wedding. We just got our wedding photos from Bryan and wow we are blown away and so happy with all of the pictures. From the beginning Bryan stood out to us from the other photographers. He has his own studio and welcomed us to come over to discuss in person and to see his work. We looked at over a dozen photographers for our wedding, but Bryan had the whole package. He not only offered longer engagement shoots, day-of wedding package, but he also offered legacy albums and canvas/framed photos. We just took our engagement photos last Thursday 5/30/19. Bryan is very detail oriented and professional. I booked Bryan back in August of 2019 for our wedding scheduled for September 2020. I paid the first non-refundable deposit. However, I realized later that I really wanted a film photographer as I researched more into weddings. I didn't know what film photography was at the time, nor any type of photography for that matter. At the time, I was scared of not booking someone right away because a lot of vendors were getting booked. His photos are amazing and great, but as I was researching wedding photos, I couldn't stop thinking about not having a film photographer for our wedding. I wanted a different style of photos. I emailed Bryan in October of 2019 to let him know that I no longer wanted him as a wedding photographer, and asked for, at least, a partial deposit back since there was still some time left. He stated in his email, "Most of our 2020's weddings are booked this year and we are booking only one wedding a day. We've missed a couple of inquiries for weddings on 9/5/20." I mean, I understand that September is a popular date, but I'm sure he would have filled the spot for 9/5. He pretty much didn't give me the deposit back for work he didn't do. Not even a partial deposit. Please, future brides, know what you want for your wedding ahead of time. I understand that I made my own mistake on my part, but I just wish that Bryan was more understanding on this matter. I understand canceling 3-6 months ahead of time. Sure! take my deposit. Bryan was our photographer for our engagement shoots and our wedding -- we are so obsessed with all of our photos, especially our wedding photos. My partner and I still look at our photos and reminisce over the magic of our wedding day. All of our guests also gave glowing comments on our wedding photos. I didn't think it would be possible for photos to bring our wedding day back to life but they do! Bryan captured the magic and perfection of our wedding -- all the big and small moments, all the feels and emotions, all the smiles and tears. Most importantly, Bryan is so easy to work with. He gives great instructions for posing, smiling, and framing of the scene. My partner and I are not natural at all with posing for photos (we are so awkward!) but Bryan was so patient, kind, and instructive on the details that make up great photos. He is also amazing with feedback. We wanted some goofy and silly engagement photos that capture us as a couple and he worked that into our shoots perfectly. He worked with us on all the big and small details (we had so many requests!), including a long list of "family photos" at the wedding (I have a HUGE family). I had both my engagement and wedding photography done by Bryan. It's been over a year since I've been married so I'm really late in leaving this review. Bryan is a fantastic photographer. Both my husband and I are shy and are not the best models. It took my husband and I a few interviews with different photographers before deciding to go with White August Photography. We decided to go with Bryan at White August after meeting with him in his studio and feeling completely comfortable with him. We had our engagement session and wedding day photos with him. He helped us with input with outfits, poses, location, pretty much any questions or concern we had, he was there to help guide us through the whole process. I had waited until we finally received our wedding photo album before writing this review. We loved all of our photographs (both engagement and wedding day). The engagement shoot had no time limit, and Bryan was willing to shoot for as long as we can pose! Our engagement lasted for about 5-6 hours long. On our wedding day, Bryan had a 2nd photographer with him. They arrived on time, and shot for an entire day (12 hours). He and his assistant were extremely professional and courteous the entire day. One thing that we really liked was how detailed Bryan was with our poses. Especially for larger group photos, he and his assistant took the time to make sure everybody was showing in the photo correctly, and looking into the camera. He would give me and my guests pointers of how to tilt our heads to make the photos look better. Even my guests noticed how particular he was; but was impressed with how the photos came out! The timeline of our photos were spot on. We received our wedding photos about 4 weeks after our wedding (our wedding date was 11-30-2013). Bryan helped us design a wedding collage photo book. Didn't have time to meet all vendors and the few I've met, we didn't really have a connection. At this point, my hubby and I felt very lost and back to being stressed out as we were just about to settle and proceed with whomever had the most reasonable pricing. Bryan shot our engagement photos and wedding and they are great! He even brought another photographer, Sam, to help out on both days. His services were great and was more than willing to substitute things on his photo packages for us. The pictures on the website speak for themselves on their photography and editing skills so I won't go into how great they look. Unless you're a professional model or love having your picture taken, standing in front of a camera for hours can be awkward. Bryan's easy-going and fun personality helped us to relax and not be so awkward during the engagement session. His personality was helped to get guests to laugh and relax during the wedding when taking pictures. He takes pride in his work and doesn't just take pictures for the money, but really wants them to turn out looking great! We had our engagement and wedding session with Bryan and it was absolutely a great experience. He helped us throughout the wedding planning and even recommending places and venues even to start! He has packages that we were able to choose from. As far as with picking out places for the shoot, he layed out some areas that might require permit fee for the shooting and places that we can go without any fees. He really encouraged us to look for a place other than the ones he layed out but we decided to shoot in couple of places that he recommended. Bryan guided us to get more comfortable in front of the camera and the best part of it was that the whole shoot felt like we were out on a date. Most importantly, the pictures came out FANTASTIC and my husband and I loved it, my friends and families all love our picture! I highly recommend Bryan and White August photography for any occasions. White August is AMAZING!!!!! My hubby and I loved working with photographer Bryan. Both engagement and wedding photo shoots were done by Bryan and I have attached some photos :) His package price was reasonable and he was very creative with all the poses. We loved all the photos he took so it was really hard for us to pick just one photo as our main. Bryan then suggested us to pick our favorite 5 and he made it into a nice collage and blew up to 20x24. I would highly highly recommend White August to anyone looking for a good photographer. My husband and I had a wonderful overall experience with Bryan at White August Photography. From the initial phone call to the day we picked up our finalized wedding photos, he was nothing but professional! I was, at first, hesitant about deciding to go with White August for our engagement and wedding day photos, but after meeting Bryan at his office and seeing his works as well as photo packages, we knew he was the right one. Our wedding was on October 6, 2012.... beautiful day for a wedding! :) We took our engagement photos a few months beforehand... the weekend after the Fourth of July. Even in the hot summer weather, Bryan helped us stay relaxed and stayed open about all suggestions or concerns. Thus, our engagement photos turned out beautifully! I have received so many compliments about our photos and many of my older friends who have babies/ will soon be married are asking about who took our photos because they want to hire Bryan for their events. He is definitely willing to work with any suggestions because he let us do the initial styling and choosing of engagement session sites. When we were stuck, he stepped in and gave us advice from his experiences. I couldn't have asked for a more comfortable and fun engagement photo session. On the wedding day, he came with an extra photographer to help shoot different angles throughout the ceremony and reception. Bryan also worked well with our other vendors and helpers, so that definitely was a huge plus for a stressed-out bride! Oh, and his timing is great! We received samples of our engagement photos incredibly fast, and we were able to send out save-the-date cards! White August Photography is absolutely legit. We booked Bryan to do our engagement photoshoot as well as our wedding, and he was an amazing person to work with. For our engagement photo, the date we had set, it just happened to be over 100 degrees. It was awful, slightly humid, incredibly hot, and on location in the park, it was just miserable to be outside. We considered moving it to a different date, but both my wife and I had our outfits prepared, took days off, so we just sucked it up and chugged along. I cannot emphasize how hot it was, and how he also stuck through it and chugged along. He was an absolute professional the whole time, and on top of that, the photos he took were absolutely AMAZING! I cannot thank the guy enough for sticking it out through the awful awful heat. We had to "walk" through the park for about a mile to get to one of our locations as well, and as awful as that was, he was a pro about it the whole time. He's easy to hang out with, and when it comes to directing the photos, he was incredibly patient, kind, and great and giving us instructions and keeping us relaxed and calm. I didn't know what to expect, but aside from the heat of the day, it was a really chill experience. I knew after this day, he was legit, and the wedding day photos would be just as good. Wow, so where do I begin? To get straight to the point, Bryan is hands down the best photographer out there. I could say without hesitation that he was the best decision I made when it came to deciding vendors for my big day and I would recommend him to anyone. I met with many photographers in Koreatown in order to find, not only a talented photographer, but someone that my husband and I would be able to feel comfortable shooting with. I had many friends that took pictures with different photographers in Koreatown and my biggest concern was that all of them had the same backgrounds and the only thing changing was the couple being shot. Bryan is truly an artist and he will listen and make what you imagined your photoshoot to be even better. Not only is he talented, but when my husband and I met him for the first time, we loved how we felt so comfortable with him since he was very patient and didn't push us to do anything. Also, he was very accommodating and flexible when it came to swapping things out in the package and making it fit our budget. When deciding the locations for the photoshoot, I only knew exactly what I wanted for one of the locations and Bryan was able to help me find the perfect spot to make it happen. I was very unsure and indecisive about the other locations but Bryan was very patient and provided me with a lot of options of where we could go. It amazes me how fast he replies to all of the text messages and emails. Even when he is busy, he will immediately text me back and tell me that he got my message and that he will text me back soon. What other vendor does that? He would even text me to update me on the weather situation since it was to rain that day and what kind of clothes to prepare. He even went to the locations on his free time and sent me a picture of what the landscape currently looked like since it was heavily raining during that time. He is truly the best and exactly what a bride needs to feel at ease. On the day of our engagement shoot, my husband and I was late to the first location where we were supposed to meet Bryan but he was super understanding about it even though he had to wait for us for an extra hour. During the shoot, Bryan could tell we were very stiff in the beginning and he said all the right things to make us feel comfortable and enjoy the moment. We were both clueless on what to do with our posture, hands, eyes, etc. but Bryan coached us throughout the whole thing until we felt more natural. It actually started to rain a little bit during our shoot but Bryan helped us power through it and keep our energy going. On our wedding day, once again, hair and makeup went a little longer than expected so we were late to our photoshoot location. Bryan was again very understanding and accommodating. We had so much fun shooting with him and my bridal party. Even though it started to rain even during the wedding shoot (bride's worst nightmare), he was very energetic and enthusiastic throughout the whole shoot. I could tell that before both our engagement shoot and wedding shoot, he went to all of the locations to plan out where he wanted us to take our pictures. He didn't waste a single minute and knew exactly where to take us throughout the whole thing. When we got to the wedding venue, he knew exactly what to tell me to make me feel at ease. He even coached me before the wedding started on where to look when walking down the aisle and other little details that the bride would easily forget. He had to stay overtime since the wedding went a bit later than expected but he was very accommodating and flexible. Even just four months after being married, I feel that my wedding day is a complete blur and the only thing I have left to really remember the day is my photos. I am so happy with all of my engagement pictures and wedding pictures. I couldn't have had anyone better.
