I've never been to a chiropractor before, so, being the "over researcher" that I am, I set out to find someone suitable for me and my family with a very specific list of criteria in hand: 1. Had to be within my insurance network (I have Anthem PPO) 2. Had to have their own private practice (my family went to The Joint many times before and weren't happy with the lack of personalization) 3. Had to have a website (mainly so I could get to know their ethos beforehand) 4. Had to have enough authentic positive reviews on Google & Yelp We hit the jackpot with Dr. Gallagher! At the first phone call, I was super reassured by her welcoming and upbeat personality. And it wasn't a one-and-done nicety because we've been seeing her twice a week for the past month and she treats us with the same happy demeanor each time. Her bedside manner is the best. She's awesome with kids, and my 10 year old daughter literally told me she loves her! The intake and insurance verification process was so smooth. Almost everything is digitally managed: scheduling, appointment reminders, intake paperwork, appointment check-ins, etc. Little things like this make life so much easier. She's a 2nd generation chiropractor, and you can tell right away that she knows the body inside and out. What I appreciate the most is she explains the brain-body connection, why parts of the body feel the way they do, and how they're all connected. (I ask a lot of questions lol.) She teaches it in a way that's compassionate and doesn't leave you feeling lame or confused. She practices out of her home, which, I'll be honest, I was a little unsure of at first, but it's so much better than a stale doctors office. She has you check in with a QR code, then head over to this upright vibration machine for 10 minutes. After that, you lay on a table with a heating pad and she applies this e-stim thing to your back for 15 minutes. I've literally heard people snoring during it because it's so relaxing! Then you pop over to the next table where the adjustments happen....this is my favorite part. My back and neck have never cracked so loud before! I've had this hump thing behind my neck all my life and it's practically gone now. I never knew I had ribs out of place but she poked around and popped them right back in. I'm always fascinated by the things she discovers just by touch. After every session I leave relaxed, stretched, and pain-free. Other perks: there's a sports massage therapist who comes in every Wednesday (book ahead because she fills up fast), she offers infrared therapy (haven't tried it yet but can't wait), she uses essential oils, CBD, and this stuff called Deep Blue that's amazing.
