Coach Jay is an absolute standout and a huge asset to the studio. I came here last week for a trial class, and unfortunately, this was not the type of class I was…read morehoping for. I left after just two stations/15 minutes. I was a bit grossed out by the "cleanliness" and the idea of lying down on the floor to stretch where people walk around in their shoes (there's so much nasty stuff from walking around outside!!). I was also under the impression/told this class was for all levels of fitness, but it seemed like it really didn't matter if we (the entire group) were literally of all different ages and levels of fitness or physique. I thought there would be more individual guidance for the movements we needed to do, but we were pretty much told (after the coach quickly explained each station), to go pick a station and get started. I wasn't sure if the positions I was standing in and sitting/squatting down in were correct or not. There's no way to see my reflection or have anyone who had experience tell me. One of the movements was to squat down while having one leg forward and across diagonally, so the knee is bent and at an angle, sort of like a curtsy position. I feel that because of that movement and not being told if I'm doing it correctly or not, I messed up my knee where I felt some sudden pain behind and around my knee area a couple days later. My vein specialist/doctor did an ultrasound on it today and saw that there's fluid in my knee that wasn't ever there before, and because of that it put pressure on another vein and caused it to "pop". He said it was probably due to straining and if the knee was twisted or at an angle. He mentioned that specifically before I ever said anything about trying out new exercises! Even despite my injury, my rating would probably be the same...the music was SO loud it was hurting my ears a bit, and I really did not want to be listening to club music. There's other music to work out to besides EDM. This just unfortunately and definitely was not what I was expecting based off of the business info and reviews I read up on.

I went to 3 different classes and all the instructors were welcoming despite me being a passport visitor. They also pushed me and helped me on my form every step of the way! Shout out to Coach Amber, Coach Mario and Coach Myk B! The studio is spotless and well-organized. Parking is easy just $2 on the street. You need a towel for class, they offer towel service if you don't bring your own. They allow 2 passport visitors per class so you do have to book early. Although Im a classpass user that only comes on the weekends, the coaches are always so welcoming and remember me well enough to know when I'm not challenging myself on weight. The coaches here are phenomenal and engaged. They are actively walking around, paying attention to form, and correcting in a friendly manner. I've seen them also interact with beginners and they're approachable, which makes a big difference if you're starting out in your fitness journey. I happily drive the 20 minutes each way here every Saturday and Sunday. Saturday mornings are 1-hour hybrid workouts that really push you, so I recommend if you're looking for a challenge! Sundays are strength focused so it's a bit of a recovery/less cardio.

WOD was Open 13.4: a 7-minute AMRAP of toes-to-bar (knee raises for me) and clean & jerks, adding 3 reps every round. Pushed through 12 rounds + 15 knee raises + 2 clean & jerks. Consistency and discipline matter. Even when you think you can't do something, there's always a way to modify it and still get it done. At the end of the day--or night--I feel great. I showed up. I did my workout. That's the win.
