Decided to stop in and look around. What a pleasant surprise. Started upstairs as soon as I topped the stairs the memories came flooding in. Saw things I had forgotten from my childhood that took me back in time, when life was easier and my family were alive and healthy... The prices are reasonable and the staff was very friendly and helpful. So much stuff, there truly is something for everyone. The parking can be a little tricky but worth the effort. I would venture to say that this was my favorite antique store in the Manassas area. It has a huge range of antiques and collectibles-- each booth has a different span of specialties and everything is priced really well. Because each booth is small-ish, there wasn't as much furniture here as Memories Antiques up the road, but the stuff they do have is more primitive/rustic. Aside from all the stuff that every antique store has-- costume jewelry, old crystal decanters, salt and pepper shakers-- I found this one to have the most unique pieces of any store I've been to in a long time. Lamps made out of mason jars, a butter churn, teeny tiny pencil sharpeners designed to look like various other things (I believe one was an old school coffee grinder?). There were also a lot of ceramics, some of which was antique and some of which was handmade. I walked out with only the two items I was looking for (and DH with a rice krispy treat and a cup of hot cider), but if I had more space or a longer shopping list this would definitely be the shop I would come back to. ps. We visited Iron Horse on Aug 31, 2019. On this particular day, the exterior of the building was being painted. We do our shopping, the young lady working that day checks us out, then move on with our day. It wasn't until we arrived at our next destination that we noticed small white specs all over our black vehicle-body, door handles, wheels, windows, EVERYWHERE. I immediately call Iron Horse and I believe the same young lady answers the phone. I explain to her what happened and she takes down my information. A week goes by and I don't hear anything. I call again and the same young lady answers. Tell her I'm calling about my vehicle and she takes down another message. We're coming up on 2 months and I have yet to hear from anyone. read more

This is a large and very interesting store. Many different kinds of things, antique or not. I just bought a dining room table and chairs from there -- not antique, but a good deal. I arranged with the owner of the table to have it transported to my apartment. The staff is fine. It's a good place. I've seen motorcycle jackets, antique typewriters, many knick-knacks, old appliances, nice clothing and linens, artwork -- you name it. read more

This is a great antique shop if you do not want to spend tons of money on antiques. Some stores are more expensive, this one is a good mix of rare finds and kitsch that you'd like to use and enhance a room. The location is a collection of different vendors, so have sales and all have something unique. A previous comment is that the sales people are rude, I would disagree I think they are nice enough to give you the space you need to ponder the vast amount of stuff. The store makes bread daily for customers and if you ask a question they will help as best they can considering they are a collection of different vendors. The restroom is tiny and parking can be tough (especially on a Saturday) but with patience and an open mind you can find some real gems. read more

This place is so fun to browse. The upstairs is a bit creaky and it's a bit hard to maneuver around all of the "booths" set up in this shop but what's an antique store without some very careful walking and squeezing by something expensive. A gem of an antique mall, worth making the trip. Found so many quality items and temptations endless.

Very pleasant staff and excellent service. A labor of love, more than a business for some tenants. There is more turnover in some stalls than others. One of the nicer ones is re-stocked frequently by Julia Shanahan, co-owner of Landscape Concepts, who encouraged me to visit Iron Horse. Yes, there were no rest room facilities, but the freshly baking herb bread was a special treat. Served warm with herb butter. There are many familiar restaurants nearby. The newer Prince William Courthouse with handicapped access is about a mile away. At Iron Horse, there is parking, and easy access with a trailer or van. The stairway access to the second floor is long, but unlike many other two story antique malls, the stairs at Iron Horse have shallow risers and broad steps. The second floor has more room in the hallways for a walker or wheelchair browsing. I saw fewer than 10 people during my first visit in which I enjoyed more than two hours of shopping and learning. Safety was not an issue; there is a surveillance camera. My purchases were limited to replacement of a broken saucer (1940's) for $3; several bar service items (1970's, 75% discount, going out of business sale); and a missing holiday ornament from my WH collection, 1982, purchased for $14, compared to $17.95 and free shipping on the WH website, up to $30 on ebay plus shipping. Total purchase, under $40. The highlight, however, was the service. I placed several other WH ornaments on hold for a day until I checked for missing dates among the ones I already own. I am returning to purchase the three I need, and one more that became available when the staff called the dealer with the list of ones I would like to purchase. My discount over the internet price is from one to three dollars, and although it will not pay for the cost of transportation, there are other antique stores in the area in addition to Iron Horse -- gas prices were reasonable. I also located dealers to find new and more appreciative owners for items I received as gifts from the estates of others. The last day of business for Manassas Antiques, was May 8, 2011 -- I purchased a couple of new linen tea towels for $2.50 total, and a print of a 1948 British alphabet from London, nicely framed in metal, for $20, but did not purchase two four inch containers, stamped Roseville, for $24 each. Many of the MA dealers did not retire and have new homes at Iron Horse or elsewhere in the Manassas area. read more

Iron Horse Antiques has been there since I was little and I love going there whenever I can. I recently went there to look at their Mason jars since my grandmother loves them and found quite a few. This place is amazing. I rarely get out of there in less than two hours. It's huuuuge, and the inventory is fairly diverse. There's a tendency towards the sort of country/rustic style that you see a lot in Manassas, but that goes with the territory. A lot of booths have specific little collections of specific little things -- want an antique lighter? A mid-20th century travel postcard? A piece of WWII military regalia? An arcane piece of antique kitchenware? Someone there has a couple dozen displayed. My taste runs more towards mid-to-late 20th century kitsch, and they're a little wanting in that area, but I'd still recommend them as a first stop on any antiquing tour of Manassas. read more

I purchase a ring that had a sticker claiming Topaz 18k gold. I took it to my jeweler to get it sized and it is only 10k gold, and not a Topaz. I called them immediately and was told by the woman "all sales final". I said "Even though it was falsely labeled?" She said there was nothing they can do about it. Needless to say, my bank is doing a fraud investigation. read more

A variety of dealers with different offerings. Prices vary, but it is fun to see if other vendors offer the same item to do some comparison shopping. The majority of the booths on the ground floor are well planned out, labelled, and thoughtfully displayed. Upstairs for the most part is another story. Goods are tossed about without a care, crammed in wherever, buried under other objects, and poorly lighted. I hope the respective owners will show some pride in what they offer by displaying their collection to the benefit of all perspective shoppers. read more

Parking is minimal, there was no issue during a weekday but I am not sure if there you would find parking easily near busy holidays like Mother's Day or Christmas. I totally enjoy this store. It seems that everytime I come, I find something to take home. I stopped by on 6/15 because I was looking for a specific item, and they had it. They also have some Civil War prints, etc. I took one of those home as well. This is really an enjoyable store. read more

I've visited this store on several occasions and purchased items twice. While it is fun to just mosey around the place and reminisce when I see things that my mom and grandma used to have when I was young, it can be an exercise in futility if you're looking for something specific. I'm interested in stereoview cards. The first time I went there I looked all over the place and never saw one, so I left empty handed The second time I went, I looked all over the place again and still never saw any, so I asked a staff member. She led me to two collections of them, one locked in the back of a cabinet. There was no way I'd have found them on my own. On my third visit I just asked for directions to stereoviews at the get-go. I strongly suggest that if you're in the market for something specific, ask the staff when you go in and you'll save a lot of time. My only complaint about this place is the parking situation. It is horrible. Also, I do not recommend bringing children in this store. There is so much stuff crowded together within easy reach of children, chances are you'll be paying for things you don't want because your child broke something. read more
