If I could give 0 stars I would. I have never been treated with such poor customer service as when…read moreI encountered Rick, the owner of Carr Boxing. I had signed my teenage son up for self defense/fitness classes because he wanted to get in shape in a fun way. Rick suggested I sign him up for the next level since he was certain that once my son started with the program he would eventually want to spar and compete so why not save money and sign up now. I assured him that would not be the issue and after going round and round with him trying to tell me I'd be sorry in the end when I'd be out more money I reluctantly still signed him up for what I originally came in for. A few days later at his pediatrician appointment my son mentioned to her that he was starting the program. I explained it and told the story of my encounter to both her and my son. She was very adamant that my son should not be sparring due to his several concussions he has had in the past. Since I signed a contract with the place Rick would not return the $230 dollars I zelled to him. He said "a contract is a contract." This may be true but due to the given circumstances and even having my son's doctor write a letter to him explaining why he can't be in that situation I was still denied the $230 even though my son never started. It's very disheartening that this business treats customers like this. I'm a former business owner and I couldn't fathom treating someone with the disrespect I had encountered.

Excellent boutique fitness gym in the heart of crown point. MWM stands for Miles with Misty - the…read moreoriginal running training program. They have beginner's 5K/8K group training options through the year with races like the shamrock shuffle being the end goal. But Misty has a number of marathons and ultra marathons on her resume, so more advanced runners would find experienced coaching here too. I don't enjoy running, so I'm often participating in one of the several group fitness training sessions like bootcamp, strength and core, women's strength training, and yoga. I have the fitness freedom plan that allows me monthly unlimited classes, personal training discounts, a VO2MAX or Resting metabolic rate test, and other perks. If you are an endurance athlete the VO2MAX test is a MUST! Misty will break down the numbers and consult on training and nutrition. The RMR test is good for those interested in calorie counting and understanding food as fuel. You don't have to sign a contract to attend a class. Drop ins are $12 and there are a number of different membership options. If you are looking for a headstart on your health goals and need accountability, the "choose to lose" program combines that, nutrition coaching, dedicated group classes with people on the same journey. It seems all the exercises are scalable, so all shapes, genders, and fitness backgrounds can find something that works for them. My only suggestion: if you are new to fitness, I highly recommend personal training or two with one of the trainers before jumping into a group session. There can be 3-16 people in a class. I think you should get personal attention before attending to get basic form down so 1) you don't hurt yourself and 2) you get the most out of each movement. Also! A recent pet peeve of mine is all the salt on the gym floor recently. Please change out of your street shoes before class. :)
