It's a very, very distant relative that, up until 2 months ago, I avoided as often as possible, because it was kind of confusing and exhausting. And intimidating. And because I'm sort of lazy. Would I rather be watching Netflix? Yes. Does a sedentary lifestyle usually lead to congestive heart disease and early mortality? Yes. Am I 28 and being dramatic? Also, yes. Always, yes. But all jokes aside, it didn't feel good to be out of shape - both physically as well as mentally. Being stuck indoors for 2 years during Covid didn't do me any favors. Physically, I obviously became out of shape, but mentally, I forgot what the point of being in shape was. Feeling comfortable in my own body and feeling proud of what my body is capable of physically doing on a regular basis is an underrated way of being. I started my fitness journey 2 months ago, and as much as I do love to complain during my sessions, I have loved the process. Because unlike when I attended a gym or intermittent classes, working consistently with the trainers at this gym has helped me transform my thoughts and beliefs around exercising and ways to live a healthier lifestyle. To be clear, I still drink and eat out at restaurants way too often. But apart from physical achievements, I have seen and felt a noticeable difference in my energy levels and attitude during my day-to-day. Moving around in the world and existing in a personal and professional capacity has been easier and lighter and gentler. I feel so much more comfortable in my own skin and almost energized by my desire for more. I've felt incredibly supported, motivated, and committed to this process daily by Derek, Cara, Cam, and Dana. I still don't like exercising.I would definitely still rather be watching Netflix. But the things worth having in life are rarely easy to achieve (or so I'm learning). Exercising is still uncomfortable and a little confusing and exhausting. But having amazing humans next to you, cheering you on, and explaining how the whole process works and why? That makes it easier, and that makes it better. And that makes it worth it. I'm rather confident that I couldn't do this process on my own. And I'm rather-rather confident that now, knowing these trainers, I wouldn't want to. Whatever excuses you're making that are steering you away from this process - stop. Just try it. If you don't like it, you don't have to continue. But you have to at least try. Invest in yourself. You deserve it.

This gym used to be packed with people and classes use to fill up pretty fast. In 2024, BAC is pretty much empty. Plus, now there are cameras literally around EVERY corner of this place. Creepy. Anyway, it seems like everyone moved to Blink. Probably won't re-sign up if I come back home permanently, but won't join Blink either. Friendly employees at BAC, but too few members and too many cameras. Joining Blink is joining A.I. No thanks to both.

One girl, after attending a competition in California, told me that she has never been so happy in her life. I see these women getting empowered, getting fit, and gaining confidence. They just finished a renovation and everything is pretty much brand new. They also have a turf area and a punching bag you can use (though you can't use it if a class is going on). Not to mention, the building (including the locker rooms) is very clean. Outside of that, they have open pickleball, open swim and several leagues that go on throughout the year. Also, this location has a little cafe where you can hang out and get a drink if needed! You definitely get your bang for your buck here. The membership price has increased, yet there always seems to be something broken, and cleanliness appears to be a serious issue. The men's whirlpool and cold plunge can remain dirty for several days or even weeks before they are properly cleaned. There is visible buildup and residue along the walls, which is extremely concerning in facilities where people are exposed to water and shared surfaces. This is not just about appearance,it is a matter of hygiene and health. Management should understand that poor sanitation can expose members to bacteria and potentially cause serious health problems. We have complained about these issues before, and we were told, "Thank you for your feedback." However, one day later, the whirlpool was still closed and the problems remained unresolved. The dry sauna also had such a strong and unpleasant odor that it smelled as though there might have been a dead animal inside. For the price being charged, members should be able to expect a clean, safe, and well-maintained facility. Please take your responsibilities seriously and address these hygiene and maintenance issues before someone gets sick. This gym has the potential to be much better, but the current level of cleanliness is unacceptable.

He really takes the time to get to know you, and creates a personalized training plan to catapult you toward your goals. As an engineer, I love how the system is structured such that your workout is quantifiable and it's easy to track progress. I really like the concept of semi-personal training because let's be honest, you don't really need someone staring at you watching you do reps for 3600 seconds straight. Having a few other people there (up to 4 total per session) helps build a sense of community while still providing the attention and guidance you need. As someone who had been on and off the workout train for a bit, I've dealt with gymtimidation at a lot of other gyms, but not this one. The name rings true as this is definitely the most positive and friendly gym environment I've been in! I've never once felt judged here, not even for my weird taste in music. What I value about this personal training experience is that Rob is so encouraging, he makes you want to do better for yourself. I've hit a lot of personal records here, and I've lifted weights that I didn't think I could. At the same time, he will never make you do something that you're not comfortable with. If ever I feel like an exercise wasn't working my body quite right, Rob gives me pointers as to how to adjust the exercise to my body. He's also full of nutrition tips--a one-stop shop for holistic life advice! After just a couple weeks I feel much stronger than when I first started, and I'm equipped with new knowledge and exercises. Over the past 7 years, Rob has been the most dedicated trainer and human being I have ever met. From making me run with the treadmill OFF for 30sec intervals, to more Farmer's Walks than I thought were humanly possible, to getting me to the point where I could do more pull-ups than half the guys that walked by me(and yes, they were obviously unassisted). He made me realize that I was strong, and powerful, and he actually kept me motivated. I have completely fallen off my game the past 3 years, and I cannot wait to get back at it. She does a thorough stretch before and after the workout and focuses on strength Mon and Wed then cardio Tue and Thu. When I have a week off, I notice the pain is worse and I can't wait to start up again. Its nothing like going to the gym by yourself and doing the same routine over and over. Kelly shakes it up and has something different every day which is truly what we should all be doing. I do have to modify but I can never quit. Even though I hate waking up so early and many days want to just stay in bed, I know I will not regret getting up and moving with Kelly's bootcamp workout.
