I'm so glad I found Core Cardio Fitness. I initially joined one of the 6 week transformation…read morechallenges and have continued to go to the classes ever since. The classes are challenging but fun and engaging. I love the small group atmosphere and it's been fun getting to know other members and becoming a part of the community. The best part is that Ashely gets to know everyone personally and he will push you outside your comfort zone if he knows you are capable of more but will also give you modifications for any exercise that you need. I've lost weight, noticed my clothes fitting better and have gotten into a much better exercise and healthy eating routine. I've also gotten a lot stronger and built muscle which is something I struggled to do on my own. After a long day at work, I actually look forward to going to Core Cardio and working out. I'd definitely recommend it!

Core Cardio is an amazing place. The trainers/instructors, the classes, and the community are…read morefantastic. They offer TRX (suspension training), Real Ryder Cycling, Bootcamp, Cardio Kick Boxing and Zumba! Even in the largest classes(about 12-15 students max for bootcamp) everyone gets personal attention, and the instructors are tuned into everyone's different goals and fitness levels, and they care. They also have a running club that meets 3 times a week, 2 times the meet ups are local in malden, and on the weekends they do a destination run, and the club is made up of all different levels. The club also does local 5k and 10k races. I think the biggest thing that makes this place so wonderful, besides the amazing classes and fantastic instructors, is how welcoming it is, not only do the instructors care about their clients, the studio/running club members care about each other and support each other. This is an ideal place for anyone who wants to challenge themselves. If your looking to make a lifestyle change, and add exercise to your life, this is the gym for you. If your already in great shape and looking to up your game, this is gym for you. If you've always hated gyms and work out studios(I would fit into this category) this is the gym for you. I started at this gym just shy of 6 months ago. I was desperate to get into shape and fit into my wedding dress, I had 8 weeks to lose it, or they were going to have to cut my dress and remake it(read nightmare), in 8 weeks with the help of Ashley and everyone at Core Cardio, they had to take my dress in( 4 inches in total). That was the first goal core cardio helped me reach, recently I hit another personal goal of running a 5k in under 30 minutes, so running under ten minute miles. I recently hit this goal as well, I ran a race that I'd previously run, but I dropped about 8 minutes off my time. In addition to all of that I have dropped 3 pant sizes, and lost 11.5 pounds. For my height and build I'm now only about 10lbs away from my ideal weight and I know with core cardio I will get there. You will not regret making the time and trying your first class free! You literally have nothing to lose.

Very disappointed with how things were handled today at the Marblehead YMCA. All last summer and…read moreeven this past week, our kids were allowed to go down the slide without issue. Suddenly today (July 13 around 1:30 PM), we were told our daughter couldn't use the slide without passing a swim test -- something we were never informed about, and something that's not listed anywhere online. What's worse is that the rules seem to change depending on which lifeguard is working. When I asked for a full list of pool rules (just like I previously asked for slide/indoor pool hours), no one -- not the lifeguards or front desk staff -- could give me any answers. The so-called "manager" on duty refused to give her name, was incredibly rude, and wouldn't explain why the rules had changed or where I could even find them. Her only explanation was, "New year, new rules." That's not an acceptable - she was extremely unprofessional, disrespectful and rude! For the record, I even called in June to ask specifically about the indoor slide and was told nothing about swim tests or new restrictions. YMCA members deserve consistency, transparency, and basic respect. Right now, that's not what we're getting at the Marblehead location.

They only host classes led by a trainer so you can just come, turn off your brain, go hard for an hour, and leave feeling proud that you are improving your health and getting into the best shape of your life. The classes only allow a maximum of 8 clients so everyone receives lots of personal attention from the trainer. Each trainer is very knowledgeable and will make sure you have good form handling the dumbbells during strength training. You can wear a Polar heart rate monitor and keep an eye on the big TV mounted on the wall that shows everyone's heart rates and calories burned. Pushing yourself to get as much yellow and red zone as you can will build endurance and burn more calories. If you have an injury, come to one of Mark's classes where he will guide you through physical therapy exercises that can strengthen shoulders, knees, elbows, etc.

Plenty of cardio and weights equipment, all functioning well, with plenty of duplication so you're not waiting for a machine, and a clean facility with music at the right level. The "extras" like towel service, soap and shampoo, and things like pools and saunas aren't included, but it's a "value" gym, and for my $30 monthly fee, I feel like I'm getting a great value. As for ending the membership, they are up front on sign-up that there's a two-year commitment or you pay an additional fee, so I wouldn't expect that to be waived. Finally, a shout-out to Kim at the front desk on weekday mornings, who greets each member by name and exudes positive energy to start the day. She always finds ways to spruce up the club between check-ins and is a great ambassador.
