IronGloves is an amazing place to work out. They have a great combination of workout options, including personal training, boot camp and open gym. I started coming to IronGloves to train for an upcoming charity boxing match. In just two short weeks, I have learned a ton about proper technique while also losing a few pounds and inches off of my waist. In less than a month, I can already wear dress shirts that I had taken out of my rotation because I had gotten too heavy. I can also see my endurance improving rapidly. During my first personal training workout, I felt like I was going to pass out because I was so out of shape. Now, I'm powering through my workouts while still retaining proper form and technique. Fitness and boxing technique-oriented gym with owners always on site. Trainers are almost all active or experienced boxers with a few getting advanced degrees locally. Joe & Renenne are owners and easy to work with for memberships, classes, etc. They have all your need for sale on location and for good value: gloves, wraps, t-shirts and gym towels (which are mandatory but available for a mere $1, what else only costs 100 cents these days??) I've been going to Irongloves for almost a year and I can't say enough nice things about this place. First off, Renene and Joe are great and run a very organized gym. They've got a full boxing ring, heavy/speed bags, weights, kettle bells, and a bunch of other nifty workout gear that I've sometimes never heard of. It seems like every time I go in there they've updated a piece of equipment or added something new for us to try out. Adding variety and spicing up the routine like that is the path to success no matter what kind of exercise you're doing. Working with a personal trainer twice a week has been amazing for both my personal fitness and boxing skill. I feel so much more confident in anything from lifting weights at my other gym to running a 10k race. The mental toughness that comes from boxing is one-of-a-kind. All I gotta say is it's a love hate relationship... more love than hate! I can honestly say I'm obsessed! I completely fell in love! It was like an abusive relationship - I go in get beat up but still in LOVE and keep going back for more! I enjoy working out but I am picky about my workouts. I don't mind paying the money if it is worth it... I do Pure Barre 7 days a week and when my BFF told me about this boxing gym that she found I was a little skeptical. She thought it would be the perfect combo with our current schedule.. PB 7 days and Boxing 3 days a week! I told her I would give it a shot! HOLY COW! On my first day as I was driving in... I got a little nervous.. Wasn't sure if I was going to last... I was a little intimidated by the whole atmosphere... you know boxing gloves, a boxing ring, punching bags, dumb bells, medicine balls, men with muscles (real muscles) etc. I didn't know what the heck I have gotten myself into. I thought okay just one session and then I can say I tried it... After my first session I was on the floor dying! My lungs hurt, my muscles were cramping, my abs were on fire... I didn't know what hit me! I completely fell in love! It was like that abusive relationship - I go in get beat up but still in LOVE! I signed up for a month right away! My BFF and I go 3 days a week! It's totally worth every single penny! 3 days a week for 1 month doing a semi-private for 30 minute sessions for $150 each. Honestly, Brendan kicks our ass in those 30 minute sessions that I don't think I could or would want it to be any longer! After each session I feel like I am getting stronger, my punches are getting better and my confidence is raising. I'm not intimidated by walking in there anymore... Everyone is pretty friendly and no one really cares if your punches look pathletic and your ladder climbs looks completely ridiculous... There just there to get their workouts in. I recommend it to anyone who likes an intense, hardcore workout, where your lungs will be burning, your muscles will be fatigued and the coach will not let you stop. IronGloves Boxing is like a second home to me. I have been training with Joe for almost a year and I can't say enough great things about him. Before signing up at the gym, I hadn't exercised in over two years because there was a period of time where I was very sick. I had anorexia and really wrecked my body. Joe knew how to start off slow and help me work my way up. Now I'm in the best shape I've ever been and I never thought I could be as strong as I am now. That's all because of Joe. He knows exactly how to tailor workouts so that clients are challenged, but not pushed past their boundaries. It takes years of experience to learn this kind of training and Joe is truly talented. I haven't met all of the trainers at the gym yet, but from what I've seen, they are incredible with their clients as well. They have all trained under Joe, so you know he holds them to the highest expectations. I see people sweaty and out of breath all the time, but always smiling. Joe and his wife, Renene, run the business together and they make a great team. They both love to take care of their people and it shows. I can't recommend Irongloves highly enough. I came here looking to start up boxing, having never done it before. I got matched with a trainer, Steven, and started up twice a week (which is very affordable by the way). From the first session I knew the quality and attention the trainers and owners pay to each and every client. The workouts are incredible, I've been playing sports competitively and working out my whole life and these are the hardest workouts I've ever done. Every day as I leave my workout I feel amazing, and I'm learning so much every session. In one month of training with Steven at Irongloves and a few days a week of open gym on my own, I lost 12 pounds and feel & look better than I have in years. Super recommend this gym!! read more

They offer boot camps for those looking to get in shape or just get into High-Intensity Interval Training workouts for $10 per session. They offer 3 classes a week on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday focusing on various things to include boxing, cardio, conditioning, core, fitness and technique. There is one on one training offered for those that are looking to get into shape, learn or just get better with the craft. I am really uncoordinated, not very flexible, have a slow reaction time, and since I was a kid, I hated physical activity. That said, I decided on a bit of a whim one day that I wanted to take up kickboxing. (I figured that it would help me improve all of the aforementioned weaknesses--and it has. But I'm getting ahead of myself.) So I hopped on Google and Yelp and found out about Irongloves, which is quite close to ASU. It took me a couple days to muster up the courage to call for a trial lesson, but when I finally did Renene was very nice and accommodating. I went in for my first lesson that same day. One of the big things that Irongloves emphasizes on its website is that it makes boxing for everyone. And I've found this to be completely true. I was afraid that it would be intimidating, but when I got there those fears were dispelled. All kinds of people train at Irongloves, NOT just pros. NOT just men. NOT just young people. NOT just super fit people. Everyone! Now for my personal opinion: I'm a little obsessed with boxing now. Yes, me, who hated PE in elementary school! I think it has a lot to do with the people at Irongloves. Everyone is friendly, positive, and willing to help each other out. The owners, Joe and Renene, are always there to help you as well, and they will build a relationship with you (which you can't say for a lot of other places these days)! They also won't pressure you into joining (there are no membership contracts) and will accommodate you if you have to cancel or reschedule, given that you give them proper notice. I train with Tony, and we started out with the very basics. He's patient but he really pushes you. Don't expect him to let you go easy. Plus, he's just a lot of fun to work with! I like having someone who holds me accountable and doesn't let me give up. And of course, kickboxing and boxing are great workouts. My arms have definitely toned up and I'm starting to see that coveted definition in my abs. (And at the time of writing this, I've had 9 lessons.) If you're a complete beginner like me, I highly recommend the 1-on-1 training, because your coach will be able to correct your technique and stance, whereas in a class there might be too many people for individualized attention like that. (Though they do offer group classes on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.) At Irongloves, you train with your coach for 30 minutes and then work on a set of whiteboard exercises that change weekly. The price for 1-on-1 is quite reasonable considering that it's personal training. To sum up: Irongloves is awesome, don't be afraid to check it out! read more

Sweat dripping gasping for air about to pass out muscle burning torture that will have you looking like a Million Dollar Baby with a mere 1.5 hours of training a week. This is an old school boxing gym. One-on-one training. You will be jumping rope, doing push-ups, pounding the heavy bag, and learning how to float like a butterfly. If you are pressed for time you will not find a better workout because you are basically in the red for the entire 30 minute workout doing intervals (or "rounds"). The trainers are excellent and the environment is non-threatening. It will put a spring in your step and get you motivated to exercise if you are in need of some extra inspiration. You will never get bored. I guarantee it. You are learning a new sport, which is so much more fun than pushing weights up and down. Recently, the owner, Joe, started a Sunday group class called "Shock Zone". It is aptly named. Pure torture. I liken it to Navy Seal training. Now that the weather has cooled off, we meet at Mesa Community College's playing fields. Ugh. Torture. I already said that. But I keep going back. Somehow, Joe makes it fun. read more

He's knowledgeable and can pretty much work with whatever I throw at him. He's got a work around if you're sick, forget your gloves, are pms-ing, whatever. He pays attention to each individual client and has an innate ability to tell just how far to push you to get the best results responsibly. Joe and Renene are great to work with as well. I've found them very easy to work with. And I can't leave Cindy out... she always has a smile on her face when I walk in and is extremely personable with all of the clients. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! The trainers are amazing, if you want to really get in the ring, ask for Chris, he was my trainer the last year and i love him. The work outs are very very very good. I have played soccer my whole life, ran marathons, everything, and this was by far the best work out iv ever gotten. ONtop of all of it, its fun!!! Its only a half hour so you don't have to move to much around to get there, but you will be burning on your way home. I have been a member since 2009 and I love it! It's always exciting and never boring. Every time I go, my trainer changes it up so it's never the same routine. I mostly do the personal training, but the group classes are fantastic too. The whole place has a terrific atmosphere too, very positive and energetic. Everyone that walks through the door is treated with respect and courtesy, whether they're a tv star, professional boxer or a housewife. No one is prejudged and no one is made to feel inferior. Everyone is encouraged to start at their own level in order to reach their best potential. I like that they don't have any contracts and I don't have to sign away my life to be a member. They don't even charge me for if I cancel, as long as I do it before 10 a.m. I often travel with my job (w/the airlines) and they always accommodate my schedule. I have come to know the owners Joe and Renene very well. I have the utmost respect because they are the hardest working couple I've ever seen. They are very active at the gym and never try to pull rank because they own the place. Joe is one of the best motivators on the planet, and Renene always takes the time to answer my questions, even the dumb ones. They are two of the nicest people I've ever met. I can not believe that someone that claims they were a member for so long actually posted a negative review just because everyone has to bring in their own water. Makes me wonder how many months it took them to realize there was no drinking fountain on the premises. Personally, I am more than happy to bring in my own bottle or buy from their machine. It would be gross beyond words to drink from a fountain that had been used by someone that's sweating from all their pores. And yes, everyone sweats, because that's the type of workout you get every single time. I walked into Irongloves about two months ago after wanted to change up my workout routine. Two months later, I'm really noticing a difference. Both mentally and physically, training 2-3 times a week has been great for me. Had my first session today with the owner, Joe. Renene was super helpful in scheduling everything and explained all the policies before I went in. Coming in with no experience, I was worried I might be intimidated by such a high level gym. Joe assessed my skill level and worked with me to begin developing my skills. I'm only on my first day but I'm definitely doing one-on-one training. Not only is it tailored to you and pushes you beyond your boundaries (safely), it's an amazing deal. I have been a member of this gym off and on for several years. My last go-round was fine for about 6 months. I trained with a coach and my typical dues were anywhere between $140-200/month. After 3-4 months my wife decided to join and her dues were typically $120-160/month. Together we paid around $300/month to workout with our trainer/coach. After being there 6 months and having the same workout times for 6 months I got a text message stating that my time had been double-booked and that I would have to come later or another day. I have a busy schedule and I could not switch my time. I made it clear that I could not make the time given to me, but they booked me anyway. Of course, I missed the time and they tried to charge me for it. I told them that I would not accept this and that I had been going for months at the same time and it wasn't my fault they double-booked that time slot. The owner of the gym then told me she would charge my wife for the time I missed instead. I told her that my wife's time at the gym is not my time and it isn't fair to charge her for it. So, I quit going to the gym and the owners got upset with me over $20. Yea, $20. After I spent hundreds of dollars every month they got upset about $20 and it was THEIR fault anyway for double-booking my slot that I had for months. About 3 months after this incident, I attempted to go back to this gym and get back with my old trainer. My wife also attempted to do the same. Oddly enough, there were NO times available for us to work out with our trainer. We waited a month, but still no times available. I have since found out that the owner of the gym put fake names on the schedule to appear booked up so that we couldn't get a time with our trainer. She also told the trainer to ignore us when we were in the gym. I guess she did this to spite us? We wanted to be paying customers again, but apparently she wasn't interested and took a passive aggressive approach. Pretty childish. Luckily for us, the trainer left and we are now happily training again at another gym with our trainer. I would not recommend this gym. They do not have a water fountain and they tell you to drink out of the bathroom sink or you have to buy a drink. The trainers are not allowed to wrap your hands before your workout. I know how to wrap my hands, but this is a liability to people that are new to boxing. The people and trainers at the gym are nice, but the management/owners make it difficult. They are petty and small-minded. I would have left a lot sooner if my trainer wasn't there. read more

The hardest workouts I have endured has been at IronGloves. 30 minute one on one sessions feeks like an eternity.. Because of IronGloves, I have appreciated the sport of Boxing, and thanks to them, it has become one of my passions. Let me just say, the work-outs are not for the weak or faint at heart; this is the first place I've belonged to, that I actually look forward to going to work out. As a cancer survivor, this experience allowed me to put things into perspective health wise. Life is too short & you only have one body. I love what my body, mind & spirit is becoming, because of this place. As stated in so many reviews to date, they have all of the equipment you need & many exercises to address every muscle in your body - literally. Work-outs are very rarely the same, something different every time, sweat like crazy and it hurts so damn GOOD! :-) I call it HAZING - but in a good way. It's addictive and you want more b/c you look & feel great. That said, if you want to get your work-out on & bring sexy back - come holla at Joe/Renene & the crew and they'll make it DO WHAT IT DO!!!!!!!! Where the age 45 becomes the new 25....
